AFTER SCHOOL GRAFFITI ART CLUB Aims Raise awareness around graffiti art and educate teenager’s and the history behind it showing its links to hip hop music.
Implementation The Group was shown a music video by krs 1 and a short film documenting Hip hop’s early origins told by it’s founders and pioneers. This aimed to give students an insight to the birth and culture of Hip Hop. The group formed a crew identity in the form of a bubble letter logo
Exercises exploring single letterforms were given to students to encourage creativity and express personal style with characterisation, attitude and flavour.
Slang list was discussed and documented. Later expanded on and typed up by students
HIPHOP visual was produced on mount board with specialist Paint pens. Blowing on the tip of the pen a spray paint feel is given to the inside of the letters.
Evaluation Young people learned the wider cultural elements of Hip Hop, furthering they’re knowledge on rap and the all other expressional forms. All young people explored their creative side and produced visuals that contributed to the end (master) piece and are happy for it to be displayed, as they are proud of their works.
