Structural Solution There are four main sources for load in the system. Cable car, funicular rail, pedestrians and the Re;actor. Though radically di erent their forces can be routed towards the two main structural elements in the hub. The two main structural elements that have been topologically optimised are the structural facade and the buttresses. These two elements deliver all load to the foundations. They also work together to spread load between them where possible.

In this example we are looking at the cable car platform. Here the axle is slightly hung by the ceiling. This splits the load into the structural slab (Purple) and the celling (Red). From here the ceiling delivers the load tot he structural facade. Meanwhile the structural slab has transferred most of its load to the buttress and a little to the structural facade. Now the forces are safely discharged into the foundation piles.

The necessary use of concrete will have a high initial impact on the environment but several strategies have been pursued to attempt to reduce the impact of this decision. These include 3D printing and topological optimisation reducing the total needed concrete, using renewable materials like timber wherever possible, deploying renewable energy systems and passive environmental controls. The overall e ect is a building with high environmental credentials despite the concrete needed to produce the structure.
