Thai people usuallly have a nickname so my dad give me one. it’s ‘Fah’. it also means SKY, BLUE, OR BLUE SKY in thai language. so i’m BLUE for my whole life this portfolio will show the shades of BLUE (shades of me), through design and typography.

the concept is carrying from the previous draft also fixing kerning and type setting. changing the color to make them more synchronized and all of them still convey the same message. right bright vibrance color is the color i chose for it.

marcel breuer This project is continued project that’s based on an architect, Marcel Breuer. Started off with posters and extended to create brand identity. In the poster design, designing 2 different direction poster which one is complimentary with architect’s and another is contrasting poster.

Marcel breuer is an architect who was a part of the bauhaus. He started off with industrial design which his well recognize work was the tubular chair. It was highly caught attention in the industry. Afterward he shifted his working field to architecture which he also very good and recognize in the industry too. His architecture style is very simple with concrete texture and geometric shape somehow his work as the sense of nature behind the strongness of concrete design. His well-known work are Met Breuer (New York Whitney Museum of American Art) building and Church of St Francis of Sales.

In the complimentary poster, the ideal of it is using his principle of design which is more of angular, geometric, concrete and very simple.
process. Using the stillness, concrete, and simply as the principle of breuer would convey breuer’s design better instead of using design elements. In this sketches is showing the different compositions of the text blocks which is the intention in design this poster to make it look like a blocky style.

In this design will focus on what breuer would not do it so this will be totally opposite style of his principal ideal. Since the concrete, simple and geometric are the ideal so organic, complex, and colorful would be the contrast style that will use for this poster.

My first responses after listen to the whole set of the sinfonietta, I can touch and feel the of goldeness somehow there are some chaotic and sadness motion within it. After listened and making the research I understand more about this piece of music that it’s very emotional relate the warfare which full of pride and sacrifice. 48

first draft. The idea I would like to interpret to vinyl packaging design is bringing out my initial feeling of gold and chaotic mixing together.
The painted gold is the key for this pieces for which I came up with 2-styles, one which is purely gold swirling paint and the other is gold and grey paint mixing and swirling on each other. Then I used them as the vinyl cover. 50

It would be boring and simple if I designed it to be a cover so I thought of changing the package from traditional vinyl record. I designed it like a gift box which incorporated the Japanese origami technique. It will convey the purpose of this music piece which it’s gift of the pride from the warfare and reminding of the scarifire.

This design works based on Jim Jarmusch’s movies, Paterson, Broken Flowers, and Only Lovers Live Alive. This assignment has two design works the first is making a poster for a movie (Paterson) and the second is to design a zine for each movie.

poster paterson (2016) I started off with the movie poster design from a selected director criterion collection which was paterson. It is the first movie I watched of Jim Jarmusch’s movie criterion collection.
This assignment has a working parameter which is that it has to be a handmade execution. The idea can be executed with scanner, photocopy, paper cut and etc but cannot be made using computer. 68

Paterson (2016)- Jim Jarmusch First of all, I chose to watch Paterson by Jim Jarmusch because personally I don’t really like to watch very old film and Paterson is probably one of the most recent film of all choices. Also after I watched the trailer and I saw that it very contemporary style movie which i never experience before. After I watched the whole film, this film is related to poet also the way that director leaded the story is pretty much simple and very mundane. The story goes by the daily routine of a bus driver in Paterson in New Jersey who is secretly a poet that doesn’t like his work to go on public or let anyone knows about his work so much. He always carry his secret notebook and come up with poetry during his break time. However, the interesting part for me is the simplicity and the routine cycle which it normally make its boring but the way the this film presents the story It make me feel like there’s something in it that’s not directly saying but it’s coming with symbolism. In each scenario, every conversation or dialogue that appears in the film is significantly important saying something to audiences behind the motionless and boring daily routine life mood. 69

It’s more like experimentations of trying different techniques to create a handmade work. Playing with scanner and photocopy and combining with the idea of the movie, Paterson. I came out with a different idea to convey a very poetic and mundane message of the movie.

The final solution is not that different from my sketch because I had already executed the idea fairly well in the beginning so all I needed were slight refinements. 71

This movie is like being a detective whose goal is to find the mother of his lost son from the random pink letter envelope. So I designed it to look like a narrative book telling the story of his investigation and which is presented in the accordion book. 79

It’s a story of a vampire couple who are trying to survive in the changing world from one era to another. The story of being odd and out of place is revealed in this movie. I picked out the idea of living from time to time and things that this couple have done or mentioned about themselves and put them in this zine. Also the need of blood forces them to adapt themselves a lot in order to find the resource which I presented in the different typeface chronologically. 81

In this second design, i developed my design based on the critique in which i tried to balance the two design style on the first draft and come up with the new design. I kept some of the good aspects of the composition and made it more interesting by doing things like wrapping the text around the corner of the box and pushing more of the visual hierarchy of the text.
