An Irish owned Holstein cow has been making waves on the North American show circuit this year! Lookout Burning It Up-Red is owned by Elitehaven Genetics (Morgan Sheehy & Alan Kelleher) and is housed at world-renowned Lookout Holsteins in Quebec, Canada. Lookout Burning It Up-Red is believed to be the first European owned animal to win her class and the R&W Intermediate Championship at WDE.

The year began with Lookout Burning It Up-Red winning 1st Senior 2-year-old, Intermediate and Grand Champion of Le Supreme Laitier R&W Holstein Show 2022 in Quebec, Canada. She also placed 1st in the senior 2-year-old black and white Holstein show. She followed this up with a hugely impressive display at the 54th World Dairy Expo, Madison, Wisconsin where she placed 1st in the Senior 2-year-old class of the red & white show. She was crowned Intermediate Champion and picked up the best udder and home bred award. Her success at WDE was followed with a R&W Reserve Intermediate Champion rosette at the Royal Agricultural Winter Fair, winning the 1st Fall 2 year old cow class. Comments over this show season referred to Lookout Burning It Up-Red as “the perfect cow with a great career ahead of her”.

Show Pedigree Burning It Up-Red comes from a real show winning pedigree going back to Apple x Barbara. A combination of two of the breeds most iconic families, with an unparalleled ability to transmit elite genetics to their offspring. She is a direct daughter of Garay Awesome Beauty VG88 2 yr. old, All North American 2 yr. old, out of the Barbara family. Rainyridge Talent Barbara and Rainyridge Tony Beauty, two exceptional cows to grace the show ring, are the backbone to her pedigree. Burning It Up Red is sired by Altitude-Red, the No 2 proven Red Sire for Type in the world. He has a PTAT of +2.92, UDC of +2.32 and a FLC of 1.63.

Classification & Figures Lookout Burning It Up-Red is classified as a VG87 2-year-old with the following classification

breakdown: Mammary System: 88, Feet & Legs: 87, Dairy Strength: 85 and Rump: 87. In her 1st lactation she produced 8573kg milk, 346kg fat, 4.0% fat, 284 kg protein, 3.3% Protein. Over the first 241 days in her 2nd lactation she produced 10512kg milk, 449kg fat and 355 kg protein, with 4.3% fat an 3.4% protein. This is backed up by highly impressive August 2022 evaluation figures: GLPI 2702 with 77% reliability, breaking down to 1127 for production, 1293 for durability and 282 Health & Fertility. Burning It Up-Red is back in calf, with two daughters already on the ground: Lookout Unstoppable Burning It Up Red, born Sept. 2021 (she is being sold in the Lookout and Partners online sale on Dec 12th-13th 2022), and a lovely heifer by Dice. Embryos will also be available early in 2023.
