Adjustment in respect to Terrain

The design process begins byfolding / loosening of the MDL , occupying both North and South as it is only permitted to step over the line within the existing PANMUMJUM meeting barracks. Interaction between the line and the site creates a protected lower level riverbank for researches and an upper level forming a continuous viewing level for observations. Spaces are created by the folded line but also within the thickness of the line. The wall not only provides the security and protection from a potentially dangerous military zone, but it also serves as an active tool to engage directly with the ecological system around it. The facility provides bird-watching spaces - especially for the internationally endangered Red Crown Cranes - and nests for smaller birds. Parts of the wall open up as a screen creating a semi-open space for Botanic studies. The front line of the halted war becomes a front line for scientists to study and protect the ecological sanctuary.
