Symbiosis Elementary School is a reuse project of the existing Jamestown Elementary School. Symbiosis seeks to address the desires of the client, Arlington Public Schools, the problems evident in the history of Jamestown Elementary, and the needs of the community. Symbiosis balances reuse with innovation through a new roof system to address both human and environmental needs. The symbiotic roof is split into four quadrants, inspired by the balance within photosynthesis. As a tree takes in carbon dioxide and water to thrive and grow, it creates a balance by releasing oxygen and creating glucose for other living things. This system dictates the organization of spaces and informs the flow of the site. The wings within each quadrant represent areas of educational integration, allowing Symbiosis Elementary to balance the needs of the school with those of the greater community.

SHIF T Second Semester Junior (2020) Multi - Use Building | Rome, Italy
Located in the neighborhood of Trastevere, the design is inspired by the idea of creating a shift in the architecture of the area. While it contains hints of traditional multi-use buildings in Rome, it has a unique and modern style. The design is centered around the division created shown in the parti. The dividing line acts as a strip of public space, blending the public versus private spaces of the building. At the end of this line is an art gallery, serving as a place for local artists to display their work. The windows contain wooden louvres on the exterior that are adjusted based on personal preference, supporting the idea of a constantly shifting faรงade.

UNITE Second Semester Sophomore (2019) Restaurant | Georgetown, DC
Awarded Best Project in Sophomore Studio
Situated in Georgetown, the design of this restaurant is based on the philosophy of Esben Bang, a Denmark born chef who believes that the food used in his kitchen should be all natural. He uses old Norwegian cooking techniques as a way to connect people to this culture. Since both nature and culture are important to his philosophy, this was the basis of the concept. The design came from the idea of two hands coming together, representing the unification of nature and culture. The forms are made of wood to reflect nature, contrasting with the glass representing culture, as when sitting inside the restaurant people can look out into the culture of Georgetown. In the design process, every element and detail was related back to the concept and values of Chef Bang.

T R AV E L January 2020 - March 2020
A collection of photos | Rome, Italy
Pre-COVID, I found myself wandering around Rome on a daily basis. Since high school, I knew I wanted to study abroad during my college career. During the second semester of junior year is when I finally found myself accomplishing this dream. Based in Rome, I was able to cross four countries, Italy, Spain, Germany, and England, and seven cities, Rome, Florence, Pisa, Milan, Madrid, Munich, and London, off my travel list. Through these trips, I saw the various types of architecture that are evident across Europe. What follows are a few of my favorite architectural pieces from those places I travelled. Although short-lived, I thoroughly enjoyed my opportunity to study abroad and the many lessons it taught me.
