Welcome to the 11th An Dear IAAE Conference attendees and fellow colleagues, On behalf of The Calgary Airport Authority and the International Association of Airport Executives Canada, it's my pleasure to welcome you to Calgary and the 11th Annual F.O.A.M. Conference. YYC Calgary International Airport (YYC) just went through a major expansion, having opened a new International Terminal in late 2016, and in 2014, it opened Canada's longest runway. The more than $2 billion investment in this infrastructure was driven by the need for additional capacity, combined with our airport partners' desire for continued growth out of YYC. In turn, this has resulted in our airport providing Albertans with some of the best air access to destinations around the world and support our local economy with an $8.28 billion GDP contribution. Coming off the heels of such a tremendous achievement, and with the new reality of operation an expanded facility - one of the most technologically-advanced airport terminals in the country - the airport went through another significant change, bringing in new leadership at the start of 2017, with my term beginning on January 1.
With this new operational reality and a fresh outlook for the future, our teams at YYC continue to work hard to elevate the customer experience at our airport. I am pleased to have this opportunity to share with you a bit about what an outside view can bring to an airport environment in terms of creating a world-class passenger experience that is couple with an efficiently run facility and a customer/consumer-centric mentality. And how this focus will work to grow our partners' businesses, stimulating the economy for the benefit of all Calgarians. I look forward to meeting you and having the chance to tell you all about how YYC will continue to grow and move forward, and how we will continue to drive Calgary and Alberta's economy forward as a major economic contributor. Thank you for participating in this year's IAAE Canada F.O.A.M Conference. I hope you enjoy your stay in Calgary and your visit to your airport Bob Sartor President and CEO The Calgary Airport Authority
nnual F.O.A.M. Conference On behalf of the Board of IAAE Canada, I would like to welcome you to the 11th annual IAAE Canada Facilities Operations and Airport Managers FOAM conference in the dynamic and exciting city of Calgary. Each year the organizing committee works to bring you speakers and topics that are interesting, relevant and critical to how we operate our facilities and our airports. This year is no different. We have speakers covering topics from terminal design elements and everything in between. Every year our members rank the opportunity to network with both with their industry peers and with industry experts as one of the top benefits of belonging to IAAE Canada. The FOAM conference is not only our show case networking and professional development event; it is also the annual general meeting of the association. I encourage all members to be involved in the governance and operation of the association. It is one of the ways you can have an impact on the progression of our industry and your career. Paul Ritchi, AAE, P.M.P. Chair, IAAE Canada Senior Manager Strategy Development GTAA Another year and another outstanding FOAM Conference in a great city Calgary! This is our 11th Annual IAAE Canada Facility Operators, Airport Managers Conference. Calgary is a terrific city with much to offer and I know your experience both inside and out of the conference will be top notch. I must extend a huge thank you to the YYC team who have been very generous with their support of the conference. Their hard work assisting IAAEC with the planning and delivery of this conference can be seen in all aspects of the conference; including staff attendance, session delivery and opening their new terminal for all to see. This year’s agenda is riveting and timely; with topics like Making Small Airports Financially Viable, Making Quality Assurance Work for Your Airport, and a feature on CATSA Plus. And to make your conference experience as convenient as possible the quality presentations and networking opportunities will be under one roof once again. Vendors will be part of the conference as its happening – vendors and delegates in the same room at the same time; learning, meeting, connecting. Enjoy the Show! Joe Mauro IAAEC Exec Director
