B.Arch. (Interior Architecture)

The Department of Interior Architecture provides a strong and comprehensive interior architectural curriculum encompassing the understanding of interior built environment, social context, art, and business. The study centers on design studio where students learn through hands-on experience and collaboratively work with the studio instructors on applied research to gain more outside-classroom experiences as well as to get involved to domestic and international communities. With intense years of training, the graduates earn accredited professional degrees at the undergraduate level. The student achievement and career success of the department’s alumni proves the program vigorous quality. The 80% of our students between 2015-2020 are placed into the top design firm in Thailand, such as PIA, DWP, and August Design Consultant.

Living Environment

Concept and Context

The first foundation studio will introduce students to the fundamental knowledge in design creativity through exploring of two mode of practices; analytical and intuitive operation. The studio will assign series of small exercises to students to manage, manipulate, transform, or solve each particular situation. Students are expected to unfold design potentialities of intentions, concepts, or ideas

The second year studio will introduce students how to integrate artistic sensibility and creativity with practicality of professionalism in Interior Architecture. Students will encounter with series of small scale projects such as residential interiors or small restaurants. Students must explore on how to design environment with simple programmatic relationship by using visual communication

Third year design studio will address further elaboration between conceptual approaches and contextual realism in professional practice. Students will generate design concepts for semi-complex programs such as basic commercial retails, offices, or resorts. Images, identities, lifestyles, and experiences of different environment will be roughly introduced and integrated within design

by using hand-on observation or basic logical analysis. This studio will use architectural drawings and model making, as a tool of investigation, to help students to construct relationship between two-dimensional abstraction of virtual ideas and three-dimensional presences of spatial quality

as a mean to solve or create unique living condition. The studio will investigate on two mediums; flat (collage) geometries and three dimensional conceptual models, as tools for elaborating ideas and compositional aesthetic. At this early stage of design experience, the studio will not heavily emphasize on color scheme, or material characteristic, but will concentrate more on viewing, investigating and manipulating fragmental elements as parts of a whole composition.

process. The studio will require students to arrive at their own innovative solution of how to visually present the identities of products through the use of colors, lighting, textures, and material choices. This year also will introduce a brief history of furniture and its affect as three dimensional propositional objects within designed environments. Besides accelerating in creative thinking, students are expected to practice their skills of drawing typical and standard of building regulations to the perfection.

Research and Branding

Conclusive exploration

The forth year studio will explore conceptual thinking as a strategy to interconnect the complex information of multi-level programs. Students will work in a relatively large scale projects such as schools, corporate offices, or large scale retailed outlets. Bas on the idea of working with virtual prescribed clients, students are critically challenged to reinterpret a brand identity.

The last studio work of the Interior Architectural program aims to prepare student’s readiness to encounter their professional world. Under selected design topics which mostly concerned with types of exhibition spaces, students will carefully use research technique as a method for data analysis to generate potential space planning and the design context as well. Students will investigate alternative methodologies which

Acknowledged as the most significant stage for the graduation, the thesis in Interior Architecture aims to benefit the student’s capability in terms of gathering the design skill and knowledge which students have simultaneously accumulated for the last five years of their academic course works. The thesis’s objective is focused on qualitative assuredness to produce creative thinking

Students will learn to generate strategic ideas from the exploration of research data in order to conceptualized and re-present brands and identities, solve programmatic requirements. Students will exercise how to balance the design solutions to contain both conceptually innovative and commercially viable. In term of professional practicality, issues such as handling of circulation, spatial adjacencies and experiences will be major concerned

emphasize on the notion of experiential design in a branding context. With a certain set of parameters, students will develops their design solutions of exhibition experience which will concern with issues such as story-telling, narrative and branding in three dimensional environments. Structural will be addressed with an emphasis in constructing in reality. With such a large scale project, students are also expected to manage on how to complete the design project to the detail level with the time constraint

through the inventive design practicality. Students are encouraged to carefully select their preference topics that reflect through the various kinds of programs. The researching core is recognized as the imperative portion which performs as a supportive knowledge to assist students to make in decision in design execution. Students need to prove that they are capable in applying the design execution to applicably fit their conceptualizations, accordance with the particular design functions and practicality.
