Introduction AIMS, the Alliance for IP Media SoluLons, is a non-‐profit trade alliance that promotes the open standards that broadcast and media companies use to move from legacy SDI systems to a virtualized, IP-‐based future—quickly and profitably.
Kerry Wheeles, CTO – Networking for Imagine Communica6ons and Technical Workgroup Chair for AIMS (Alliance for IP Media Solu6ons) is highly focused on the move from SDI to IP, the virtualiza6on of services and the need for higher levels & quality of compression and transcoding for both linear and non-‐linear distribu6on of content. Kerry has 30 years of progressively responsible experience in bringing innova6ve, market leading technologies to market. Kerry worked on the rou6ng control systems used in the 1988, 1992 and 1996 Olympics, led the Engineering for Leitch Technology focused on the rou6ng porXolio which led the market with many technology firsts and served as Director of Product Marke6ng before driving the Servers, Rou6ng, Mul6viewers, Master Control & Branding business units for Harris Broadcast prior to his current role with Imagine Communica6ons.

Easily Integrate Legacy Devices What ever you are building • Content Producer, Playout, etc.
for example
Legacy HD-‐SDI Devices Cameras, ProducLon Switchers, Monitoring Devices, etc
• Island of IP or island of HD-‐SDI
As you move to 4K/UHD • Island of UHD or island of HD • CriLcal Picture Viewing and Studio Monitor Wall Viewing
don’t forget about…
ConverSng to 2110 for HD Signals Up-‐converSng to UHD

About Audio QUESTIONS YOU NEED TO ASK What are you trying to build? • Audio ProducLon, Live Sound Re-‐inforcement (concert sound), etc.
for example
ExisSng Audio Devices
Switchers, Audio Processing Units, Conversion, STEM
Do you need audio break-‐away? • To what level (ie. mono, stereo, etc.)
Compressed Audio? • 2110 will support or convert as required
Object audio? • Lots of channels – use 2110
Do your devices talk Dante vs Ravena? • Verify operaLonal sedngs to ensure ST-‐2110 compaLbility with AES67

AMWA-NMOS IS-04 SOLVES TWO KEY PROBLEMS WE CARE A LOT ABOUT REGISTRATION & DISCOVERY
• Finding the parts of the system in a vendor-‐neutral way • Cataloguing the streams being generated
MINIMAL END-‐POINT CONTROL
• Telling a Receiver to join a new stream
