At a time when retail is getting a bad press it’s heartwarming to see the dedication and creativity that centre management teams put into their malls. Christophe Cuvillier, CEO of Unibail Rodamco which this month became the owner of Westfield, said “Retail isn’t dead…boring retail is dead.” This is something that the best centre teams have already embraced, injecting vibrancy and vitality into bricks and mortar malls to give shoppers a reason to keep coming back. More and more shoppers are looking for experience when they go out. Otherwise they could sit on their sofa and buy everything they need online. So at its best centre management is more and more about hospitality, entertainment and engagement. I’m delighted to say that our judges were able to find plenty of examples of this enlightened approach to management among our entries, and tonight these are the winners that we’ll be celebrating. I’d like to thank our distinguished panel of judges for giving up their time. With a bigger-than-ever entry for SCEPTRE 2018 they had a difficult task, so there’s no shame in not winning – to make the shortlists alone is a major achievement. Enjoy your evening!

Our goal is to raise £10,000 from this event, with 100% of the proceeds going to the charity. Managing Director, Rupert Williams, his son Leo, along with two other Directors from UKPC, Simon Snelgrove and Stuart Harrison will cycle and paddle from the Tower of London to the Eiffel Tower, Paris. In three days our team will cycle from the Tower of London, down the Southern coast, then paddle across the English Channel finishing with another cycle to the Eiffel Tower.
