MAGAZINE AUGUST 2011 | ISSUE #1
THE TRIBAL ISSUE
YUNA’S NOTE
Hi. I’m Yuna Zarai. I was born and raised in Malaysia. I’m passionate about music, art, fashion, film and photography. Five years ago while still studying in law school I started performing as a singer songwriter in Kuala Lumpur, and Alhamdulillah, a year later I started a clothing store called IAMJETFUELshop in Subang Jaya, the neighbourhood I grew up in. For the longest time I’ve always wanted to publish a magazine where I could share the things I stumbled upon with everyone. Trends, music, aspiring individuals I met in my field of work. So I came up with this idea of making a magazine for my store IAMJETFUELshop, so customers would be updated with the store’s latest additions, get more ideas in doing what they do, be inspired to do more things or try out new stuff! This is only the debut issue. Hopefully we would be able to have an issue out once every 2 months! I’m looking for people who would want to be a part of this so if you want to contribute, we’d be more than happy to have you on board. Thank you so much for all your support and enjoy the first issue of
THE IAMJETFUEL MAGAZINE.
Y In this issue we’ll be seeing a lot of ethnic tribal and aztec prints that are taking over the fashion scene! Yuna is wearing IAMJETFUEL’s sheer blouse, Topshop jeans, a vintage tribal printed bucket bag and shoes from Jeffrey Campbell.

Tribal, ethnic and animal prints are huge on runways this year. From L.A.M.B to Missoni, the trend is now finally arriving in the streetstyles of LA and everywhere else in the world. Combine your African fabrics to American prep staples printed garments with blazers, plain white tshirts or shirts, add some leather and you’re set! A little bit of animal prints would add a little spark to your African prints! Check out some of our favourite picks that might inspire your look this spring/summer!

FASHION WATCH
ALDO X JULIAN LOUIE
YES WE ARE STILL ON THAT TRIBAL TOPIC! After Aldo’s International Fashion Week SS11 collaboration with New York name-to-know, Julian Louie, was a hit – it sent editors, bloggers and customers into a tweeting/posting frenzy with love for Julian’s designs. This partnership birthed a shoe collection not for the faint of heart. Filled with tribal art and prints, these shoes are on the pulse of the trend this season and these wedges take tribal to the extreme! The architectural design takes heights to a new level (boasting more than a 4 inch wedge heel). With these ethnic-chic pumps, you always get the most out of your fashion dress looks. source: http://divasanddorks.com/wild-shoe-wednesday-aldo/

HELLO JETTERS!
WE ARE WATCHING YOU! EVERY ISSUE WE WILL BE FEATURING A STYLISTA WITH A DISTINCT SENSE OF STYLE. WE RUMMAGE THROUGH THEIR FASHION FILES, WE FIND OUT WHAT’S BEHIND THAT PRETTY FACE AND STYLISH GET UP AND WHETHER CLOTHES IS WHAT THEY THINK ABOUT ALL THE TIME! THE BEST PART IS WE GET TO SHARE IT WITH YOU! ON THIS ISSUE WE WOULD LIKE TO INTRODUCE OUR VERY FIRST JETSTER, A 23 YEAR OLD STUDENT FROM MMU
NUR ALFAH
5 of your most favourite fashion items to complete your look. 1) Hijab..! I feel absolutely naked without them. 2) My tribal graphic and owl sweater. It’s more comfortable than “stylish”. As a student, shirts or sweaters are the perfect attire for classes. A very relaxed look. 3) Going casual I would wear a plain t-shirt with a pair of dark skinny jeans (my favourite pair is my Cheap Monday jeans) and a pair of sandals. The dark jeans will compliment my look, I won’t look sloppy but at the same time it keeps my look more simpleand clean cut. 4) My brown navy bagpack. The material is lighter than leather (good for my back), it has compartments for everything (easy access on the go, and the size is just right not too small and big. Finding the right bag is like winning the competition!) 5) My Kulkith and Toms shoes.I wear them with jeans and with every other kind of pants. You wear your hijab. How do you cope with the hot weather? The material of my hijab is very important and I try to look for light colours. Like white, for example, reflects sunlight rather than absorbing it. I also make sure I don’t wear anything transparent. I like to get hijabs that are made of cotton and silk. They’re highly breathable, come in lots of fun colors and patterns. Where do you get your style inspiration from? - http://www.hijab-scarf.com/ - http://lookbook.nu/ - http://www.chictopia.com/ - http://just-another-fashion-blog.tumblr.com - http://www.fashionising.com/blogs/ Where do you normally shop? Forever 21,Zara,Topshop,Dorothy perkin,MNG and other online blogshop. How much would you spend for clothes? I’m trying to save as much money as possible but I wouldn’t mind spending a little bit more for stylish pieces, like nice shirts that would cost around RM50 to RM99. Usually I spend RM150+ on clothing.

GOODBYE! STALK-WORTHY CHICKS Spending too much time on the internet?
US TOO! Find out who we like to stalk online during our free time (we stalk nicely!) FASHIONTOAST is a model-cum-fashion blogger who updates her fashionventures like it’s nobody’s business. It’s such a joy going through her professionally-taken photographs! Stalk-worthy? Absolutely! http://www.fashiontoast.com/
SUE ANNA JOE is a fashion blogger. A photographer. A mom. A hero. And she talks about girl problems (one entry was about bad skin! Oh don’t we all have that problem!) Most importantly her sense of fashion is very distinct from the other hijabi fashionistas out there, she’s more willing to take risks, she has a lot of fun experimenting with fashion, she’s rasing a kid and she does it in style. Check out her blog here! http://countthethread.blogspot.com/
