Alworth is the second recipient of the Crisp Museum Southeast Solo Exhibition, given to a living artist in the Southeast region who has produced a sufficient body of work, has not had a solo museum exhibition and has made contributions of their time and artistic talents to their community.

July 7 - August 20 Coffey examines the positive, elusive moments of awe and the struggle of dealing with mental and monetary barriers. Her paintings allow each artwork to become a conversation with a symbol. Inevitably, this abstracted symbol builds upon itself and references not one thing, but many.

BROADWAY'S NEXT H!T MUSICAL August 26 Every song is fresh. Every scene is new. Every night is different. It’s all improvised, and it’s all funny. Master improvisers gather made-up, hit song suggestions from the audience and create a spontaneous evening of music, humor and laughter. RECONSTRUCTED/ RECONCEPTUALIZED najjar abdul-mussawwir September 1 - October 22

Najjar Abdul-Mussawwir, Over The Sea, mixed-media painting, 2012-2016

The exhibition is an investigation of the history of the banjo and its direct link to African string instruments, leading to the creation of sculptural works focusing on material as content and the re-contextualizing of various wood quality and forms.

TANGO BUENOS AIRES the spirit of argentina October 6 One of Argentina’s great cultural exports, known throughout the Americas, Europe and the Far East as the most authentic and uncompromising representative of the Tango. This year, the group is undertaking another coast-tocoast tour of the United States and Canada, performing a brand-new program, the Spirit of Argentina, a journey through dance and music.

MEN’S CHORAL FESITVAL October 20

The 7th annual Men's Choral Festival for high school singers focuses on study of vocal technique, rehearsal procedure and performance practice, plus a minilesson with a Southeast voice faculty member, culminating in an evening concert.

Clinician Dr. Derrick Fox is the director of choral activities at University of Nebraska-Omaha. An active adjudicator for regional, state, national and international organizations, Fox is a baritone soloist who has collaborated with the St. Louis Symphony, Michigan State University and the Espaco Cultural among others.

Your fear hemorrhages deliciously within you." This new adaptation restores the suspense and seduction of Bram Stoker's classic novel to the stage. As Count Dracula begins to exert his will upon the residents of London, they try to piece together the clues of his appearances— in a valiant attempt to save themselves from a hideous fate. FALL FOR DANCE November 15 - 19 An annual favorite featuring original choreography by faculty, guest artists and students providing a variety of dance audiences enjoy. BUDDY the buddy holly story November 29 Now in its 25th amazing year, the "World's Most Successful Rock 'n' Roll Musical" continues to thrill audiences on tour. CINDERELLA January 19 & 21 A charming and intimate setting of Perrault's fairy tale. First performed in 1904, the opera is filled with beautiful melodies reminiscent of Chopin and Tchaikovsky. The story of Cinderella and her prince, complete with slipper, evil step-sisters, and an effervescent fairy guiding the path to true love is presented in English with orchestra. Enjoy this timeless fairytale with an enhanced ballroom party scene and fun for the whole family!

JOHN MCEUEN January 27 A founding member of the Nitty Gritty Dirt Band (now in their 50th year), John McEuen has continually performed since 1964 with the band and as a solo artist. Beyond performing, he has a rich history of creating, producing and preserving original and traditional folk and acoustic music, and taking it to new audiences.

STOMP January 30 STOMP is explosive, inventive, provocative, witty and utterly unique - an unforgettable experience for audiences of all ages. The international percussion sensation has garnered armfuls of awards and rave reviews. The eight-member troupe uses everything but conventional percussion instruments - matchboxes, wooden poles, brooms, garbage cans, Zippo lighters, hubcaps - to fill the stage with magnificent rhythms. February 2 This annual festival saw more than 500 students in 23 jazz ensembles perform in 2016, capping off with a concert of both of Southeast’s big bands in a gala concert.

The ensembles will perform for three jazz experts who will give them written and recorded comments as well as a live clinic session.

THE ARTWORK OF MARKO FIELDS February 2 - 23 A Minnesota-based, three-dimensional artist in ceramics and mixed media, whose artwork is highly ornate, colorful and displays a flair for the whimsy.

music for clarinet and percussion February 22 A recital of clarinet and percussion duos featuring Gabrielle Baffoni and Chris Wilson. With a passion for chamber music, Dr. Baffoni has performed with several chamber ensembles over the last 15 years. As a soloist Wilson has helped to introduce the marimba to public audiences in settings outside of the concert hall, including coffee shops, libraries, art galleries and more.

sphere artist group, brian franklin March 2 - 28 Artwork created by the juror for the Annual Student Show. The 2018 juror is Brian Franklin, a digital/mixed media artist and professor at Illinois State University. This show delves into the topic of security and privacy in our electronic era with an installation created by Franklin's new media artist group called Sphere.

The word Pysanka comes from the verb pysaty, "to write," as the designs are not painted on, but written with wax.

Participants will learn the rich history of legends, superstition, folklore and symbolism as they complete a Pysanka egg with rich dyes and meaningful designs with a wax resist process.

New Zealand-born conductor Gemma New was recently appointed the St. Louis Symphony’s resident conductor and director of the St. Louis Symphony Youth Orchestra. Founded in 1880, the St. Louis Symphony is recognized internationally as an ensemble of the highest caliber, performing a broad musical repertoire with skill and spirit. The St. Louis Symphony continues to build upon its reputation for musical excellence.
