Photographic of 50 images, in my daily life

PHOTOGRAPH & LAYOUT DESIGN: THANAPHON B.

About me.

Hi, I’m Thanaphon!

As a graphic design student, my world revolves around visual storytelling. But beyond the design software, I have a deep love for capturing everyday moments through the lens of my iPhone. This photo book is a culmination of those passions, presented as my certificate project in Graphic Design.

It’s been a journey of exploration, pushing the boundaries of what a simple phone camera can achieve. Each image is a testament to the power of seeing the ordinary in an extraordinary light. More importantly, it’s a chance for me to hone my skills in visual storytelling, crafting narratives through a single frame.

So, get ready to embark on a visual adventure! Through ten unique themes, you’ll see the world as I do – a world brimming with beauty waiting to be discovered, all captured with the magic of my iPhone.

“I believe that creative collaboration between design and is the magic that can make impossible possible, an opportunity to make a different in the world of DESIGN.” CONTENTS

Portrait close up

This series explores the captivating details that define an Asian woman’s face. Instead of a full portrait, we focus on intimate close-ups – hair, hand, ear, mouth, and eyes.

Each image hints at a story: the texture of a braid, a birthmark’s whisper, a smile revealing personality. By focusing on these features, we create a more personal portrait, a collection of details that paint a larger picture of beauty.

Unveiling Beauty

Own shadow

A Play of Light and Form

Sunlight in the morning casts long, dramatic shadows, and this series captures the playful dance between light and form. Each image uses it own shadow as the subject, exploring its interaction with the environment. The golden hues of morning light add a touch of warmth, transforming a simple shadow into a captivating silhouette.

Food wrapper

Discarded Delights

Unexpected beauty emerges in this series. We spotlight the wrappers of unfinished meals, transforming them into art. Crinkled textures, vibrant colors, and metallic gleams take center stage. By isolating these details, we celebrate the artistic potential found in everyday discards, reminding us to look beyond the ordinary.

Light painiting

Nightlight Symphony

With an unconventional twist, instead of high-powered equipment, we use the everyday tools readily available – a bedroom lamp, a phone flashlight, and even a car’s brake light.

Each image is a testament to creativity. We see swirling orbs of light from the bedroom lamp, sharp lines traced by the phone flashlight, and dramatic bursts of color from the brake light. The limitations become the inspiration, as we paint with light in unexpected ways.

Building

This series explores Melbourne’s architectural diversity. Journey through a vibrant street art mural, the iconic Flinders Street Station dome, the calming facade of the public library, and a sleek modern building by the Yarra River. Each captures a different facet of Melbourne’s soul.

Reflexion

City Reflections

This series captures the magic of Melbourne’s reflections, all discovered during my cycling adventures. Unlike a planned photoshoot, these reflections are fleeting glimpses, serendipitous moments encountered on the city streets.

Boke effect

Whispers of Light

This series embraces the dreamlike quality of bokeh, transforming everyday scenes into captivating mysteries. Softly blurred backgrounds become a canvas for the sharp focus of our subjects – flowers veiled in morning fog, the swirling dance of water and oil in a container, a solitary bubble floating in air, and water mist clinging to a windowpane.

Through these images, bokeh becomes a tool for storytelling, blurring the lines between reality and imagination, and inviting us to discover the hidden magic within the ordinary.

A Blurred subject

Motion and Stillness: A Blurred Dance in Time

This series explores the captivating tension between movement and stillness. Each image features a blurred subject – a flower swaying in the breeze, two fingers in a fleeting gesture, and a figure in motion. The sharp background becomes an anchor, offering a point of reference amidst the blurred movement.

This contrast between the blurred subject and the sharp background creates a sense of dynamism. We’re invited to imagine the story behind the blur – the unseen `wind rustling the flower, the fleeting touch of two fingers, the soft breeze caressing the sunset flower, or the energy of a person moving through their day.

Each image captures a moment in time, a fleeting glimpse of motion frozen against a still backdrop. It’s a reminder that beauty can be found not just in the static, but also in the dynamism of movement, captured through the creative use of blurred subjects.

High contrast

Two Brothers

This series celebrates the movement and joy of our feline family, adopted during a challenging time. Photographed in highcontrast black and white, these images capture their essence not just as pets, but as cherished companions who brought light to our days.

The stark black and white emphasizes every playful leap, every curious head tilt, every graceful pounce. Each image showcases their energy and vitality, a testament to the joy they brought.

We see the world through their playful eyes in these high-contrast snapshots. Their elegant forms, intense gazes, and unbridled joy are highlighted by the stark backgrounds. These are not just pet portraits; they are glimpses of love, loyalty, and the purrfect companions who became our family.

A pair of shoes

A Life in Soles: Stories Told Through Shoes

This series explores the diverse roles shoes play in our lives, all captured through the lens of footwear. We begin with the playful world of childhood, showcasing miniature shoes – a pair of Barbie pumps, tiny sneakers for a boy, and brightly colored shoes for a young child.

Next, we witness the joy of liberation. An adult, shoes held high in the air, swings carefree. This image represents the freedom shoes can provide, both literally and metaphorically. It’s a chance to let loose, break free from routine, and embrace the simple pleasures in life.

Finally, we see the power of inspiration. A child proudly wears oversized “daddy shoes”, mimicking their parent’s style. This image speaks to the desire to emulate and the fun of stepping into someone else’s shoes, even if they’re a bit too big.

This series is a reminder that shoes are more than just footwear. They are companions on our journeys, symbols of growth and aspiration, and sometimes, a source of pure unadulterated fun.

We communicate big ideas through colours, spacing, and vector shapes to create bold designs that resonate. Want to see how we turn minimalist elements into impactful visuals?
