1Thesongofsongs,whichisSolomon's 2Lethimkissmewiththekissesofhismouth:forthylove isbetterthanwine.

3Becauseofthesavourofthygoodointmentsthynameis asointmentpouredforth,thereforedothevirginslovethee.

4Drawme,wewillrunafterthee:thekinghathbrought meintohischambers:wewillbegladandrejoiceinthee, wewillrememberthylovemorethanwine:theupright lovethee

5Iamblack,butcomely,OyedaughtersofJerusalem,as thetentsofKedar,asthecurtainsofSolomon.

6Looknotuponme,becauseIamblack,becausethesun hathlookeduponme:mymother'schildrenwereangry withme;theymademethekeeperofthevineyards;but mineownvineyardhaveInotkept

7Tellme,Othouwhommysoulloveth,wherethou feedest,wherethoumakestthyflocktorestatnoon:for whyshouldIbeasonethatturnethasidebytheflocksof thycompanions?

8Ifthouknownot,Othoufairestamongwomen,gothy wayforthbythefootstepsoftheflock,andfeedthykids besidetheshepherds'tents

9Ihavecomparedthee,Omylove,toacompanyofhorses inPharaoh'schariots

10Thycheeksarecomelywithrowsofjewels,thyneck withchainsofgold.

11Wewillmaketheebordersofgoldwithstudsofsilver

12Whilethekingsittethathistable,myspikenardsendeth forththesmellthereof.

13Abundleofmyrrhismywellbeloveduntome;heshall lieallnightbetwixtmybreasts.

14Mybelovedisuntomeasaclusterofcamphireinthe vineyardsofEngedi

15Behold,thouartfair,mylove;behold,thouartfair;thou hastdoves'eyes.

1IamtheroseofSharon,andthelilyofthevalleys

2Asthelilyamongthorns,soismyloveamongthe daughters

3Astheappletreeamongthetreesofthewood,soismy belovedamongthesons.Isatdownunderhisshadowwith greatdelight,andhisfruitwassweettomytaste

4Hebroughtmetothebanquetinghouse,andhisbanner overmewaslove.

5Staymewithflagons,comfortmewithapples:forIam sickoflove

6Hislefthandisundermyhead,andhisrighthanddoth embraceme

7Ichargeyou,OyedaughtersofJerusalem,bytheroes, andbythehindsofthefield,thatyestirnotup,norawake mylove,tillheplease

8Thevoiceofmybeloved!behold,hecomethleaping uponthemountains,skippinguponthehills.

9Mybelovedislikearoeorayounghart:behold,he standethbehindourwall,helookethforthatthewindows, shewinghimselfthroughthelattice.

11For,lo,thewinterispast,therainisoverandgone; 12Theflowersappearontheearth;thetimeofthesinging ofbirdsiscome,andthevoiceoftheturtleisheardinour land;

13Thefigtreeputtethforthhergreenfigs,andthevines withthetendergrapegiveagoodsmellArise,mylove, myfairone,andcomeaway.

14Omydove,thatartinthecleftsoftherock,inthesecret placesofthestairs,letmeseethycountenance,letmehear thyvoice;forsweetisthyvoice,andthycountenanceis comely

15Takeusthefoxes,thelittlefoxes,thatspoilthevines: forourvineshavetendergrapes.

16Mybelovedismine,andIamhis:hefeedethamongthe lilies

17Untilthedaybreak,andtheshadowsfleeaway,turn, mybeloved,andbethoulikearoeorayounghartuponthe mountainsofBether.

1BynightonmybedIsoughthimwhommysoulloveth:I soughthim,butIfoundhimnot

2Iwillrisenow,andgoaboutthecityinthestreets,andin thebroadwaysIwillseekhimwhommysoulloveth:I soughthim,butIfoundhimnot

3Thewatchmenthatgoaboutthecityfoundme:towhom Isaid,Sawyehimwhommysoulloveth?

4ItwasbutalittlethatIpassedfromthem,butIfound himwhommysoulloveth:Iheldhim,andwouldnotlet himgo,untilIhadbroughthimintomymother'shouse, andintothechamberofherthatconceivedme

5Ichargeyou,OyedaughtersofJerusalem,bytheroes, andbythehindsofthefield,thatyestirnotup,norawake mylove,tillheplease

6Whoisthisthatcomethoutofthewildernesslikepillars ofsmoke,perfumedwithmyrrhandfrankincense,withall powdersofthemerchant?

7Beholdhisbed,whichisSolomon's;threescorevaliant menareaboutit,ofthevaliantofIsrael

8Theyallholdswords,beingexpertinwar:everyman hathhissworduponhisthighbecauseoffearinthenight.

9KingSolomonmadehimselfachariotofthewoodof Lebanon

10Hemadethepillarsthereofofsilver,thebottomthereof ofgold,thecoveringofitofpurple,themidstthereofbeing pavedwithlove,forthedaughtersofJerusalem 11Goforth,OyedaughtersofZion,andbeholdking Solomonwiththecrownwherewithhismothercrowned himinthedayofhisespousals,andinthedayofthe gladnessofhisheart.

CHAPTER4

1Behold,thouartfair,mylove;behold,thouartfair;thou hastdoves'eyeswithinthylocks:thyhairisasaflockof goats,thatappearfrommountGilead.

2Thyteetharelikeaflockofsheepthatareevenshorn, whichcameupfromthewashing;whereofeveryonebear twins,andnoneisbarrenamongthem

3Thylipsarelikeathreadofscarlet,andthyspeechis comely:thytemplesarelikeapieceofapomegranate withinthylocks

4ThyneckislikethetowerofDavidbuildedforan armoury,whereontherehangathousandbucklers,all shieldsofmightymen

5Thytwobreastsareliketwoyoungroesthataretwins, whichfeedamongthelilies

6Untilthedaybreak,andtheshadowsfleeaway,Iwillget metothemountainofmyrrh,andtothehillof frankincense

7Thouartallfair,mylove;thereisnospotinthee

8ComewithmefromLebanon,myspouse,withmefrom Lebanon:lookfromthetopofAmana,fromthetopof ShenirandHermon,fromthelions'dens,fromthe mountainsoftheleopards.

9Thouhastravishedmyheart,mysister,myspouse;thou hastravishedmyheartwithoneofthineeyes,withone chainofthyneck.

10Howfairisthylove,mysister,myspouse!howmuch betteristhylovethanwine!andthesmellofthine ointmentsthanallspices!

11Thylips,Omyspouse,dropasthehoneycomb:honey andmilkareunderthytongue;andthesmellofthy garmentsislikethesmellofLebanon.

12Agardeninclosedismysister,myspouse;aspringshut up,afountainsealed

13Thyplantsareanorchardofpomegranates,with pleasantfruits;camphire,withspikenard, 14Spikenardandsaffron;calamusandcinnamon,withall treesoffrankincense;myrrhandaloes,withallthechief spices:

15Afountainofgardens,awelloflivingwaters,and streamsfromLebanon.

16Awake,Onorthwind;andcome,thousouth;blowupon mygarden,thatthespicesthereofmayflowoutLetmy belovedcomeintohisgarden,andeathispleasantfruits.

CHAPTER5

1Iamcomeintomygarden,mysister,myspouse:Ihave gatheredmymyrrhwithmyspice;Ihaveeatenmy honeycombwithmyhoney;Ihavedrunkmywinewithmy milk:eat,Ofriends;drink,yea,drinkabundantly,O beloved.

2Isleep,butmyheartwaketh:itisthevoiceofmy belovedthatknocketh,saying,Opentome,mysister,my love,mydove,myundefiled:formyheadisfilledwith dew,andmylockswiththedropsofthenight.

3Ihaveputoffmycoat;howshallIputiton?Ihave washedmyfeet;howshallIdefilethem?

4Mybelovedputinhishandbytheholeofthedoor,and mybowelsweremovedforhim

5Iroseuptoopentomybeloved;andmyhandsdropped withmyrrh,andmyfingerswithsweetsmellingmyrrh, uponthehandlesofthelock

6Iopenedtomybeloved;butmybelovedhadwithdrawn himself,andwasgone:mysoulfailedwhenhespake:I

soughthim,butIcouldnotfindhim;Icalledhim,buthe gavemenoanswer.

7Thewatchmenthatwentaboutthecityfoundme,they smoteme,theywoundedme;thekeepersofthewallstook awaymyveilfromme.

8Ichargeyou,OdaughtersofJerusalem,ifyefindmy beloved,thatyetellhim,thatIamsickoflove

9Whatisthybelovedmorethananotherbeloved,Othou fairestamongwomen?whatisthybelovedmorethan anotherbeloved,thatthoudostsochargeus?

10Mybelovediswhiteandruddy,thechiefestamongten thousand

11Hisheadisasthemostfinegold,hislocksarebushy, andblackasaraven

12Hiseyesareastheeyesofdovesbytheriversofwaters, washedwithmilk,andfitlyset.

13Hischeeksareasabedofspices,assweetflowers:his lipslikelilies,droppingsweetsmellingmyrrh

14Hishandsareasgoldringssetwiththeberyl:hisbelly isasbrightivoryoverlaidwithsapphires

15Hislegsareaspillarsofmarble,setuponsocketsoffine gold:hiscountenanceisasLebanon,excellentasthe cedars

16Hismouthismostsweet:yea,heisaltogetherlovely Thisismybeloved,andthisismyfriend,Odaughtersof Jerusalem

1Whitheristhybelovedgone,Othoufairestamong women?whitheristhybelovedturnedaside?thatwemay seekhimwiththee

2Mybelovedisgonedownintohisgarden,tothebedsof spices,tofeedinthegardens,andtogatherlilies.

3Iammybeloved's,andmybelovedismine:hefeedeth amongthelilies

4Thouartbeautiful,Omylove,asTirzah,comelyas Jerusalem,terribleasanarmywithbanners

5Turnawaythineeyesfromme,fortheyhaveovercome me:thyhairisasaflockofgoatsthatappearfromGilead.

6Thyteethareasaflockofsheepwhichgoupfromthe washing,whereofeveryonebearethtwins,andthereisnot onebarrenamongthem.

7Asapieceofapomegranatearethytempleswithinthy locks

8Therearethreescorequeens,andfourscoreconcubines, andvirginswithoutnumber

9Mydove,myundefiledisbutone;sheistheonlyoneof hermother,sheisthechoiceoneofherthatbareherThe daughterssawher,andblessedher;yea,thequeensandthe concubines,andtheypraisedher

10Whoisshethatlookethforthasthemorning,fairasthe moon,clearasthesun,andterribleasanarmywith banners?

11Iwentdownintothegardenofnutstoseethefruitsof thevalley,andtoseewhetherthevineflourished,andthe pomegranatesbudded.

12OreverIwasaware,mysoulmademelikethechariots ofAmminadib

13Return,return,OShulamite;return,return,thatwemay lookupontheeWhatwillyeseeintheShulamite?Asit werethecompanyoftwoarmies

CHAPTER7

1Howbeautifularethyfeetwithshoes,Oprince's daughter!thejointsofthythighsarelikejewels,thework ofthehandsofacunningworkman.

2Thynavelislikearoundgoblet,whichwantethnot liquor:thybellyislikeanheapofwheatsetaboutwith lilies.

3Thytwobreastsareliketwoyoungroesthataretwins

4Thyneckisasatowerofivory;thineeyeslikethe fishpoolsinHeshbon,bythegateofBathrabbim:thynose isasthetowerofLebanonwhichlookethtoward Damascus.

5ThineheadupontheeislikeCarmel,andthehairofthine headlikepurple;thekingisheldinthegalleries

6Howfairandhowpleasantartthou,Olove,fordelights!

7Thisthystatureisliketoapalmtree,andthybreaststo clustersofgrapes

8Isaid,Iwillgouptothepalmtree,Iwilltakeholdofthe boughsthereof:nowalsothybreastsshallbeasclustersof thevine,andthesmellofthynoselikeapples;

9Andtheroofofthymouthlikethebestwineformy beloved,thatgoethdownsweetly,causingthelipsofthose thatareasleeptospeak

10Iammybeloved's,andhisdesireistowardme.

11Come,mybeloved,letusgoforthintothefield;letus lodgeinthevillages

12Letusgetupearlytothevineyards;letusseeifthevine flourish,whetherthetendergrapeappear,andthe pomegranatesbudforth:therewillIgivetheemyloves

13Themandrakesgiveasmell,andatourgatesareall mannerofpleasantfruits,newandold,whichIhavelaid upforthee,Omybeloved

CHAPTER8

1Othatthouwertasmybrother,thatsuckedthebreastsof mymother!whenIshouldfindtheewithout,Iwouldkiss thee;yea,Ishouldnotbedespised

2Iwouldleadthee,andbringtheeintomymother'shouse, whowouldinstructme:Iwouldcausetheetodrinkof spicedwineofthejuiceofmypomegranate

3Hislefthandshouldbeundermyhead,andhisright handshouldembraceme

4Ichargeyou,OdaughtersofJerusalem,thatyestirnot up,norawakemylove,untilheplease.

5Whoisthisthatcomethupfromthewilderness,leaning uponherbeloved?Iraisedtheeupundertheappletree: therethymotherbroughttheeforth:thereshebroughtthee forththatbarethee

6Setmeasasealuponthineheart,asasealuponthine arm:forloveisstrongasdeath;jealousyiscruelasthe grave:thecoalsthereofarecoalsoffire,whichhathamost vehementflame

7Manywaterscannotquenchlove,neithercanthefloods drownit:ifamanwouldgiveallthesubstanceofhishouse forlove,itwouldutterlybecontemned.

8Wehavealittlesister,andshehathnobreasts:whatshall wedoforoursisterinthedaywhensheshallbespokenfor?

9Ifshebeawall,wewillbuilduponherapalaceofsilver: andifshebeadoor,wewillincloseherwithboardsof cedar

10Iamawall,andmybreastsliketowers:thenwasIin hiseyesasonethatfoundfavour.

11SolomonhadavineyardatBaalhamon;heletoutthe vineyarduntokeepers;everyoneforthefruitthereofwas tobringathousandpiecesofsilver.

12Myvineyard,whichismine,isbeforeme:thou,O Solomon,musthaveathousand,andthosethatkeepthe fruitthereoftwohundred.

13Thouthatdwellestinthegardens,thecompanions hearkentothyvoice:causemetohearit

14Makehaste,mybeloved,andbethouliketoaroeorto ayounghartuponthemountainsofspices
