2Andtherewerebornuntohimsevensonsandthree daughters.
3Hissubstancealsowasseventhousandsheep,andthree thousandcamels,andfivehundredyokeofoxen,andfive hundredsheasses,andaverygreathousehold;sothatthis manwasthegreatestofallthemenoftheeast
4Andhissonswentandfeastedintheirhouses,everyone hisday;andsentandcalledfortheirthreesisterstoeatand todrinkwiththem
5Anditwasso,whenthedaysoftheirfeastingweregone about,thatJobsentandsanctifiedthem,androseupearly inthemorning,andofferedburntofferingsaccordingtothe numberofthemall:forJobsaid,Itmaybethatmysons havesinned,andcursedGodintheirhearts.ThusdidJob continually
6NowtherewasadaywhenthesonsofGodcameto presentthemselvesbeforetheLORD,andSatancamealso amongthem
7AndtheLORDsaiduntoSatan,Whencecomestthou?
ThenSatanansweredtheLORD,andsaid,Fromgoingto andfrointheearth,andfromwalkingupanddowninit
8AndtheLORDsaiduntoSatan,Hastthouconsideredmy servantJob,thatthereisnonelikehimintheearth,a perfectandanuprightman,onethatfearethGod,and eschewethevil?
9ThenSatanansweredtheLORD,andsaid,DothJobfear Godfornought?
10Hastnotthoumadeanhedgeabouthim,andabouthis house,andaboutallthathehathoneveryside?thouhast blessedtheworkofhishands,andhissubstanceis increasedintheland.
11Butputforththinehandnow,andtouchallthathehath, andhewillcursetheetothyface
12AndtheLORDsaiduntoSatan,Behold,allthathehath isinthypower;onlyuponhimselfputnotforththinehand SoSatanwentforthfromthepresenceoftheLORD
13Andtherewasadaywhenhissonsandhisdaughters wereeatinganddrinkingwineintheireldestbrother's house:
14AndtherecameamessengeruntoJob,andsaid,The oxenwereplowing,andtheassesfeedingbesidethem:
15AndtheSabeansfelluponthem,andtookthemaway; yea,theyhaveslaintheservantswiththeedgeofthesword; andIonlyamescapedalonetotellthee
16Whilehewasyetspeaking,therecamealsoanother,and said,ThefireofGodisfallenfromheaven,andhath burnedupthesheep,andtheservants,andconsumedthem; andIonlyamescapedalonetotellthee
17Whilehewasyetspeaking,therecamealsoanother,and said,TheChaldeansmadeoutthreebands,andfellupon thecamels,andhavecarriedthemaway,yea,andslainthe servantswiththeedgeofthesword;andIonlyamescaped alonetotellthee
18Whilehewasyetspeaking,therecamealsoanother,and said,Thysonsandthydaughterswereeatinganddrinking wineintheireldestbrother'shouse:
19And,behold,therecameagreatwindfromthe wilderness,andsmotethefourcornersofthehouse,andit fellupontheyoungmen,andtheyaredead;andIonlyam escapedalonetotellthee
20ThenJobarose,andrenthismantle,andshavedhis head,andfelldownupontheground,andworshipped, 21Andsaid,NakedcameIoutofmymother'swomb,and nakedshallIreturnthither:theLORDgave,andtheLORD hathtakenaway;blessedbethenameoftheLORD.

CHAPTER2
1AgaintherewasadaywhenthesonsofGodcameto presentthemselvesbeforetheLORD,andSatancamealso amongthemtopresenthimselfbeforetheLORD
2AndtheLORDsaiduntoSatan,Fromwhencecomest thou?AndSatanansweredtheLORD,andsaid,From goingtoandfrointheearth,andfromwalkingupand downinit.
3AndtheLORDsaiduntoSatan,Hastthouconsideredmy servantJob,thatthereisnonelikehimintheearth,a perfectandanuprightman,onethatfearethGod,and eschewethevil?andstillheholdethfasthisintegrity, althoughthoumovedstmeagainsthim,todestroyhim withoutcause
4AndSatanansweredtheLORD,andsaid,Skinforskin, yea,allthatamanhathwillhegiveforhislife
5Butputforththinehandnow,andtouchhisboneandhis flesh,andhewillcursetheetothyface
6AndtheLORDsaiduntoSatan,Behold,heisinthine hand;butsavehislife.
7SowentSatanforthfromthepresenceoftheLORD,and smoteJobwithsoreboilsfromthesoleofhisfootuntohis crown.
8Andhetookhimapotsherdtoscrapehimselfwithal;and hesatdownamongtheashes
9Thensaidhiswifeuntohim,Dostthoustillretainthine integrity?curseGod,anddie
10Buthesaiduntoher,Thouspeakestasoneofthe foolishwomenspeaketh.What?shallwereceivegoodat thehandofGod,andshallwenotreceiveevil?Inallthis didnotJobsinwithhislips
11NowwhenJob'sthreefriendsheardofallthisevilthat wascomeuponhim,theycameeveryonefromhisown place;EliphaztheTemanite,andBildadtheShuhite,and ZophartheNaamathite:fortheyhadmadeanappointment togethertocometomournwithhimandtocomforthim
12Andwhentheylifteduptheireyesafaroff,andknew himnot,theylifteduptheirvoice,andwept;andtheyrent everyonehismantle,andsprinkleddustupontheirheads towardheaven
13Sotheysatdownwithhimuponthegroundsevendays andsevennights,andnonespakeaworduntohim:forthey sawthathisgriefwasverygreat

3LetthedayperishwhereinIwasborn,andthenightin whichitwassaid,Thereisamanchildconceived.
4Letthatdaybedarkness;letnotGodregarditfrom above,neitherletthelightshineuponit.
5Letdarknessandtheshadowofdeathstainit;letacloud dwelluponit;lettheblacknessofthedayterrifyit
6Asforthatnight,letdarknessseizeuponit;letitnotbe joineduntothedaysoftheyear,letitnotcomeintothe numberofthemonths
7Lo,letthatnightbesolitary,letnojoyfulvoicecome therein

2Forwrathkilleththefoolishman,andenvyslayeththe sillyone
3Ihaveseenthefoolishtakingroot:butsuddenlyIcursed hishabitation.
4Hischildrenarefarfromsafety,andtheyarecrushedin thegate,neitheristhereanytodeliverthem
5Whoseharvestthehungryeatethup,andtakethiteven outofthethorns,andtherobberswallowethuptheir substance.
6Althoughafflictioncomethnotforthofthedust,neither dothtroublespringoutoftheground;
7Yetmanisbornuntotrouble,asthesparksflyupward 8IwouldseekuntoGod,anduntoGodwouldIcommit mycause:
9Whichdoethgreatthingsandunsearchable;marvellous thingswithoutnumber:
10Whogivethrainupontheearth,andsendethwaters uponthefields:
11Tosetuponhighthosethatbelow;thatthosewhich mournmaybeexaltedtosafety
12Hedisappointeththedevicesofthecrafty,sothattheir handscannotperformtheirenterprise
13Hetakeththewiseintheirowncraftiness:andthe counselofthefrowardiscarriedheadlong.
14Theymeetwithdarknessinthedaytime,andgropein thenoondayasinthenight.
15Buthesaveththepoorfromthesword,fromtheir mouth,andfromthehandofthemighty 16Sothepoorhathhope,andiniquitystoppethhermouth 17Behold,happyisthemanwhomGodcorrecteth: thereforedespisenotthouthechasteningoftheAlmighty: 18Forhemakethsore,andbindethup:hewoundeth,and hishandsmakewhole

20Infamineheshallredeemtheefromdeath:andinwar fromthepowerofthesword
21Thoushaltbehidfromthescourgeofthetongue: neithershaltthoubeafraidofdestructionwhenitcometh
22Atdestructionandfaminethoushaltlaugh:neithershalt thoubeafraidofthebeastsoftheearth.
23Forthoushaltbeinleaguewiththestonesofthefield: andthebeastsofthefieldshallbeatpeacewiththee 24Andthoushaltknowthatthytabernacleshallbein peace;andthoushaltvisitthyhabitation,andshaltnotsin 25Thoushaltknowalsothatthyseedshallbegreat,and thineoffspringasthegrassoftheearth.

11Thencamethereuntohimallhisbrethren,andallhis sisters,andalltheythathadbeenofhisacquaintance before,anddideatbreadwithhiminhishouse:andthey bemoanedhim,andcomfortedhimoveralltheevilthatthe LORDhadbroughtuponhim:everymanalsogavehima pieceofmoney,andeveryoneanearringofgold
12SotheLORDblessedthelatterendofJobmorethanhis beginning:forhehadfourteenthousandsheep,andsix thousandcamels,andathousandyokeofoxen,anda thousandsheasses.
13Hehadalsosevensonsandthreedaughters.
14Andhecalledthenameofthefirst,Jemima;andthe nameofthesecond,Kezia;andthenameofthethird, Kerenhappuch.
15Andinallthelandwerenowomenfoundsofairasthe daughtersofJob:andtheirfathergavetheminheritance amongtheirbrethren
16AfterthislivedJobanhundredandfortyyears,andsaw hissons,andhissons'sons,evenfourgenerations.
17SoJobdied,beingoldandfullofdays
