CHAPTER1

1ThevisionofIsaiahthesonofAmoz,whichhesaw concerningJudahandJerusaleminthedaysofUzziah, Jotham,Ahaz,andHezekiah,kingsofJudah.

2Hear,Oheavens,andgiveear,Oearth:fortheLORD hathspoken,Ihavenourishedandbroughtupchildren,and theyhaverebelledagainstme

3Theoxknowethhisowner,andtheasshismaster'scrib: butIsraeldothnotknow,mypeopledothnotconsider.

4Ahsinfulnation,apeopleladenwithiniquity,aseedof evildoers,childrenthatarecorrupters:theyhaveforsaken theLORD,theyhaveprovokedtheHolyOneofIsraelunto anger,theyaregoneawaybackward

5Whyshouldyebestrickenanymore?yewillrevoltmore andmore:thewholeheadissick,andthewholeheartfaint.

6Fromthesoleofthefootevenuntotheheadthereisno soundnessinit;butwounds,andbruises,andputrifying sores:theyhavenotbeenclosed,neitherboundup,neither mollifiedwithointment

7Yourcountryisdesolate,yourcitiesareburnedwithfire: yourland,strangersdevouritinyourpresence,anditis desolate,asoverthrownbystrangers

8AndthedaughterofZionisleftasacottageinavineyard, asalodgeinagardenofcucumbers,asabesiegedcity.

9ExcepttheLORDofhostshadleftuntousaverysmall remnant,weshouldhavebeenasSodom,andweshould havebeenlikeuntoGomorrah.

10HearthewordoftheLORD,yerulersofSodom;give earuntothelawofourGod,yepeopleofGomorrah

11Towhatpurposeisthemultitudeofyoursacrificesunto me?saiththeLORD:Iamfulloftheburntofferingsof rams,andthefatoffedbeasts;andIdelightnotinthe bloodofbullocks,oroflambs,orofhegoats.

12Whenyecometoappearbeforeme,whohathrequired thisatyourhand,totreadmycourts?

13Bringnomorevainoblations;incenseisanabomination untome;thenewmoonsandsabbaths,thecallingof assemblies,Icannotawaywith;itisiniquity,eventhe solemnmeeting

14Yournewmoonsandyourappointedfeastsmysoul hateth:theyareatroubleuntome;Iamwearytobearthem.

15Andwhenyespreadforthyourhands,Iwillhidemine eyesfromyou:yea,whenyemakemanyprayers,Iwillnot hear:yourhandsarefullofblood.

16Washyou,makeyouclean;putawaytheevilofyour doingsfrombeforemineeyes;ceasetodoevil; 17Learntodowell;seekjudgment,relievetheoppressed, judgethefatherless,pleadforthewidow

18Comenow,andletusreasontogether,saiththeLORD: thoughyoursinsbeasscarlet,theyshallbeaswhiteas snow;thoughtheyberedlikecrimson,theyshallbeas wool

19Ifyebewillingandobedient,yeshalleatthegoodof theland:

20Butifyerefuseandrebel,yeshallbedevouredwiththe sword:forthemouthoftheLORDhathspokenit.

21Howisthefaithfulcitybecomeanharlot!itwasfullof judgment;righteousnesslodgedinit;butnowmurderers 22Thysilverisbecomedross,thywinemixedwithwater:

23Thyprincesarerebellious,andcompanionsofthieves: everyonelovethgifts,andfollowethafterrewards:they judgenotthefatherless,neitherdoththecauseofthe widowcomeuntothem

24ThereforesaiththeLord,theLORDofhosts,themighty OneofIsrael,Ah,Iwilleasemeofmineadversaries,and avengemeofmineenemies:

25AndIwillturnmyhanduponthee,andpurelypurge awaythydross,andtakeawayallthytin:

26AndIwillrestorethyjudgesasatthefirst,andthy counsellorsasatthebeginning:afterwardthoushaltbe called,Thecityofrighteousness,thefaithfulcity.

27Zionshallberedeemedwithjudgment,andherconverts withrighteousness

28Andthedestructionofthetransgressorsandofthe sinnersshallbetogether,andtheythatforsaketheLORD shallbeconsumed

29Fortheyshallbeashamedoftheoakswhichyehave desired,andyeshallbeconfoundedforthegardensthatye havechosen

30Foryeshallbeasanoakwhoseleaffadeth,andasa gardenthathathnowater

31Andthestrongshallbeastow,andthemakerofitasa spark,andtheyshallbothburntogether,andnoneshall quenchthem

CHAPTER2

1ThewordthatIsaiahthesonofAmozsawconcerning JudahandJerusalem

2Anditshallcometopassinthelastdays,thatthe mountainoftheLORD'Shouseshallbeestablishedinthe topofthemountains,andshallbeexaltedabovethehills; andallnationsshallflowuntoit

3Andmanypeopleshallgoandsay,Comeye,andletus gouptothemountainoftheLORD,tothehouseofthe GodofJacob;andhewillteachusofhisways,andwewill walkinhispaths:foroutofZionshallgoforththelaw,and thewordoftheLORDfromJerusalem

4Andheshalljudgeamongthenations,andshallrebuke manypeople:andtheyshallbeattheirswordsinto plowshares,andtheirspearsintopruninghooks:nation shallnotliftupswordagainstnation,neithershallthey learnwaranymore.

5OhouseofJacob,comeye,andletuswalkinthelightof theLORD

6Thereforethouhastforsakenthypeoplethehouseof Jacob,becausetheybereplenishedfromtheeast,andare soothsayerslikethePhilistines,andtheypleasethemselves inthechildrenofstrangers.

7Theirlandalsoisfullofsilverandgold,neitheristhere anyendoftheirtreasures;theirlandisalsofullofhorses, neitheristhereanyendoftheirchariots:

8Theirlandalsoisfullofidols;theyworshiptheworkof theirownhands,thatwhichtheirownfingershavemade:

9Andthemeanmanbowethdown,andthegreatman humblethhimself:thereforeforgivethemnot

10Enterintotherock,andhidetheeinthedust,forfearof theLORD,andforthegloryofhismajesty.

11Theloftylooksofmanshallbehumbled,andthe haughtinessofmenshallbeboweddown,andtheLORD aloneshallbeexaltedinthatday.

12ForthedayoftheLORDofhostsshallbeuponevery onethatisproudandlofty,anduponeveryonethatis liftedup;andheshallbebroughtlow:

13AnduponallthecedarsofLebanon,thatarehighand liftedup,anduponalltheoaksofBashan,

14Anduponallthehighmountains,anduponallthehills thatareliftedup,

15Anduponeveryhightower,anduponeveryfencedwall, 16AnduponalltheshipsofTarshish,anduponall pleasantpictures

17Andtheloftinessofmanshallbeboweddown,andthe haughtinessofmenshallbemadelow:andtheLORD aloneshallbeexaltedinthatday.

18Andtheidolsheshallutterlyabolish

19Andtheyshallgointotheholesoftherocks,andinto thecavesoftheearth,forfearoftheLORD,andforthe gloryofhismajesty,whenhearisethtoshaketerriblythe earth

20Inthatdayamanshallcasthisidolsofsilver,andhis idolsofgold,whichtheymadeeachoneforhimselfto worship,tothemolesandtothebats;

21Togointothecleftsoftherocks,andintothetopsof theraggedrocks,forfearoftheLORD,andforthegloryof hismajesty,whenhearisethtoshaketerriblytheearth 22Ceaseyefromman,whosebreathisinhisnostrils:for whereinishetobeaccountedof?

CHAPTER3

1For,behold,theLord,theLORDofhosts,dothtake awayfromJerusalemandfromJudahthestayandthestaff, thewholestayofbread,andthewholestayofwater,

2Themightyman,andthemanofwar,thejudge,andthe prophet,andtheprudent,andtheancient,

3Thecaptainoffifty,andthehonourableman,andthe counsellor,andthecunningartificer,andtheeloquent orator.

4AndIwillgivechildrentobetheirprinces,andbabes shallruleoverthem

5Andthepeopleshallbeoppressed,everyonebyanother, andeveryonebyhisneighbour:thechildshallbehave himselfproudlyagainsttheancient,andthebaseagainst thehonourable.

6Whenamanshalltakeholdofhisbrotherofthehouseof hisfather,saying,Thouhastclothing,bethouourruler, andletthisruinbeunderthyhand:

7Inthatdayshallheswear,saying,Iwillnotbeanhealer; forinmyhouseisneitherbreadnorclothing:makemenot arulerofthepeople

8ForJerusalemisruined,andJudahisfallen:becausetheir tongueandtheirdoingsareagainsttheLORD,toprovoke theeyesofhisglory.

9Theshewoftheircountenancedothwitnessagainstthem; andtheydeclaretheirsinasSodom,theyhideitnotWoe untotheirsoul!fortheyhaverewardedevilunto themselves

10Sayyetotherighteous,thatitshallbewellwithhim: fortheyshalleatthefruitoftheirdoings

11Woeuntothewicked!itshallbeillwithhim:forthe rewardofhishandsshallbegivenhim.

12Asformypeople,childrenaretheiroppressors,and womenruleoverthem.Omypeople,theywhichleadthee causetheetoerr,anddestroythewayofthypaths

13TheLORDstandethuptoplead,andstandethtojudge thepeople.

14TheLORDwillenterintojudgmentwiththeancientsof hispeople,andtheprincesthereof:foryehaveeatenupthe vineyard;thespoilofthepoorisinyourhouses.

15Whatmeanyethatyebeatmypeopletopieces,and grindthefacesofthepoor?saiththeLordGODofhosts 16MoreovertheLORDsaith,Becausethedaughtersof Zionarehaughty,andwalkwithstretchedforthnecksand wantoneyes,walkingandmincingastheygo,andmaking atinklingwiththeirfeet: 17ThereforetheLordwillsmitewithascabthecrownof theheadofthedaughtersofZion,andtheLORDwill discovertheirsecretparts

18InthatdaytheLordwilltakeawaythebraveryoftheir tinklingornamentsabouttheirfeet,andtheircauls,and theirroundtireslikethemoon, 19Thechains,andthebracelets,andthemufflers, 20Thebonnets,andtheornamentsofthelegs,andthe headbands,andthetablets,andtheearrings, 21Therings,andnosejewels, 22Thechangeablesuitsofapparel,andthemantles,and thewimples,andthecrispingpins, 23Theglasses,andthefinelinen,andthehoods,andthe vails.

24Anditshallcometopass,thatinsteadofsweetsmell thereshallbestink;andinsteadofagirdlearent;and insteadofwellsethairbaldness;andinsteadofa stomacheragirdingofsackcloth;andburninginsteadof beauty

25Thymenshallfallbythesword,andthymightyinthe war

26Andhergatesshalllamentandmourn;andshebeing desolateshallsitupontheground.

CHAPTER4

1Andinthatdaysevenwomenshalltakeholdofoneman, saying,Wewilleatourownbread,andwearourown apparel:onlyletusbecalledbythyname,totakeawayour reproach

2InthatdayshallthebranchoftheLORDbebeautifuland glorious,andthefruitoftheearthshallbeexcellentand comelyforthemthatareescapedofIsrael

3Anditshallcometopass,thathethatisleftinZion,and hethatremainethinJerusalem,shallbecalledholy,even everyonethatiswrittenamongthelivinginJerusalem:

4WhentheLordshallhavewashedawaythefilthofthe daughtersofZion,andshallhavepurgedthebloodof Jerusalemfromthemidstthereofbythespiritofjudgment, andbythespiritofburning

5AndtheLORDwillcreateuponeverydwellingplaceof mountZion,anduponherassemblies,acloudandsmoke byday,andtheshiningofaflamingfirebynight:forupon allthegloryshallbeadefence

6Andthereshallbeatabernacleforashadowinthe daytimefromtheheat,andforaplaceofrefuge,andfora covertfromstormandfromrain

CHAPTER5

1NowwillIsingtomywellbelovedasongofmybeloved touchinghisvineyard.Mywellbelovedhathavineyardina veryfruitfulhill:

2Andhefencedit,andgatheredoutthestonesthereof,and planteditwiththechoicestvine,andbuiltatowerinthe midstofit,andalsomadeawinepresstherein:andhe lookedthatitshouldbringforthgrapes,anditbrought forthwildgrapes

3Andnow,OinhabitantsofJerusalem,andmenofJudah, judge,Iprayyou,betwixtmeandmyvineyard

4Whatcouldhavebeendonemoretomyvineyard,thatI havenotdoneinit?wherefore,whenIlookedthatitshould bringforthgrapes,broughtitforthwildgrapes?

5Andnowgoto;IwilltellyouwhatIwilldotomy vineyard:Iwilltakeawaythehedgethereof,anditshallbe eatenup;andbreakdownthewallthereof,anditshallbe troddendown:

6AndIwilllayitwaste:itshallnotbepruned,nordigged; butthereshallcomeupbriersandthorns:Iwillalso commandthecloudsthattheyrainnorainuponit.

7ForthevineyardoftheLORDofhostsisthehouseof Israel,andthemenofJudahhispleasantplant:andhe lookedforjudgment,butbeholdoppression;for righteousness,butbeholdacry

8Woeuntothemthatjoinhousetohouse,thatlayfieldto field,tilltherebenoplace,thattheymaybeplacedalone inthemidstoftheearth!

9InmineearssaidtheLORDofhosts,Ofatruthmany housesshallbedesolate,evengreatandfair,without inhabitant

10Yea,tenacresofvineyardshallyieldonebath,andthe seedofanhomershallyieldanephah.

11Woeuntothemthatriseupearlyinthemorning,that theymayfollowstrongdrink;thatcontinueuntilnight,till wineinflamethem!

12Andtheharp,andtheviol,thetabret,andpipe,and wine,areintheirfeasts:buttheyregardnottheworkofthe LORD,neitherconsidertheoperationofhishands.

13Thereforemypeoplearegoneintocaptivity,because theyhavenoknowledge:andtheirhonourablemenare famished,andtheirmultitudedriedupwiththirst.

14Thereforehellhathenlargedherself,andopenedher mouthwithoutmeasure:andtheirglory,andtheir multitude,andtheirpomp,andhethatrejoiceth,shall descendintoit

15Andthemeanmanshallbebroughtdown,andthe mightymanshallbehumbled,andtheeyesofthelofty shallbehumbled:

16ButtheLORDofhostsshallbeexaltedinjudgment, andGodthatisholyshallbesanctifiedinrighteousness.

17Thenshallthelambsfeedaftertheirmanner,andthe wasteplacesofthefatonesshallstrangerseat

18Woeuntothemthatdrawiniquitywithcordsofvanity, andsinasitwerewithacartrope:

19Thatsay,Lethimmakespeed,andhastenhiswork,that wemayseeit:andletthecounseloftheHolyOneofIsrael drawnighandcome,thatwemayknowit!

20Woeuntothemthatcallevilgood,andgoodevil;that putdarknessforlight,andlightfordarkness;thatputbitter forsweet,andsweetforbitter!

21Woeuntothemthatarewiseintheirowneyes,and prudentintheirownsight!

22Woeuntothemthataremightytodrinkwine,andmen ofstrengthtominglestrongdrink:

23Whichjustifythewickedforreward,andtakeawaythe righteousnessoftherighteousfromhim!

24Thereforeasthefiredevoureththestubble,andthe flameconsumeththechaff,sotheirrootshallbeas rottenness,andtheirblossomshallgoupasdust:because theyhavecastawaythelawoftheLORDofhosts,and despisedthewordoftheHolyOneofIsrael

25ThereforeistheangeroftheLORDkindledagainsthis people,andhehathstretchedforthhishandagainstthem, andhathsmittenthem:andthehillsdidtremble,andtheir carcasesweretorninthemidstofthestreetsForallthis hisangerisnotturnedaway,buthishandisstretchedout still

26Andhewillliftupanensigntothenationsfromfar,and willhissuntothemfromtheendoftheearth:and,behold, theyshallcomewithspeedswiftly:

27Noneshallbewearynorstumbleamongthem;none shallslumbernorsleep;neithershallthegirdleoftheir loinsbeloosed,northelatchetoftheirshoesbebroken:

28Whosearrowsaresharp,andalltheirbowsbent,their horses'hoofsshallbecountedlikeflint,andtheirwheels likeawhirlwind:

29Theirroaringshallbelikealion,theyshallroarlike younglions:yea,theyshallroar,andlayholdoftheprey, andshallcarryitawaysafe,andnoneshalldeliverit

30Andinthatdaytheyshallroaragainstthemlikethe roaringofthesea:andifonelookuntotheland,behold darknessandsorrow,andthelightisdarkenedinthe heavensthereof

CHAPTER6

1IntheyearthatkingUzziahdiedIsawalsotheLord sittinguponathrone,highandliftedup,andhistrainfilled thetemple

2Aboveitstoodtheseraphims:eachonehadsixwings; withtwainhecoveredhisface,andwithtwainhecovered hisfeet,andwithtwainhedidfly

3Andonecrieduntoanother,andsaid,Holy,holy,holy,is theLORDofhosts:thewholeearthisfullofhisglory

4Andthepostsofthedoormovedatthevoiceofhimthat cried,andthehousewasfilledwithsmoke.

5ThensaidI,Woeisme!forIamundone;becauseIama manofuncleanlips,andIdwellinthemidstofapeopleof uncleanlips:formineeyeshaveseentheKing,theLORD ofhosts

6Thenflewoneoftheseraphimsuntome,havingalive coalinhishand,whichhehadtakenwiththetongsfrom offthealtar:

7Andhelaidituponmymouth,andsaid,Lo,thishath touchedthylips;andthineiniquityistakenaway,andthy sinpurged

8AlsoIheardthevoiceoftheLord,saying,WhomshallI send,andwhowillgoforus?ThensaidI,HereamI;send me

9Andhesaid,Go,andtellthispeople,Hearyeindeed,but understandnot;andseeyeindeed,butperceivenot

10Maketheheartofthispeoplefat,andmaketheirears heavy,andshuttheireyes;lesttheyseewiththeireyes,and hearwiththeirears,andunderstandwiththeirheart,and convert,andbehealed.

11ThensaidI,Lord,howlong?Andheanswered,Until thecitiesbewastedwithoutinhabitant,andthehouses withoutman,andthelandbeutterlydesolate, 12AndtheLORDhaveremovedmenfaraway,andthere beagreatforsakinginthemidstoftheland

13Butyetinitshallbeatenth,anditshallreturn,andshall beeaten:asateiltree,andasanoak,whosesubstanceisin them,whentheycasttheirleaves:sotheholyseedshallbe thesubstancethereof.

CHAPTER7

1AnditcametopassinthedaysofAhazthesonof Jotham,thesonofUzziah,kingofJudah,thatRezinthe kingofSyria,andPekahthesonofRemaliah,kingof Israel,wentuptowardJerusalemtowaragainstit,but couldnotprevailagainstit

2AnditwastoldthehouseofDavid,saying,Syriais confederatewithEphraimAndhisheartwasmoved,and theheartofhispeople,asthetreesofthewoodaremoved withthewind.

3ThensaidtheLORDuntoIsaiah,Goforthnowtomeet Ahaz,thou,andShearjashubthyson,attheendofthe conduitoftheupperpoolinthehighwayofthefuller's field;

4Andsayuntohim,Takeheed,andbequiet;fearnot, neitherbefaintheartedforthetwotailsofthesesmoking firebrands,forthefierceangerofRezinwithSyria,andof thesonofRemaliah

5BecauseSyria,Ephraim,andthesonofRemaliah,have takenevilcounselagainstthee,saying,

6LetusgoupagainstJudah,andvexit,andletusmakea breachthereinforus,andsetakinginthemidstofit,even thesonofTabeal:

7ThussaiththeLordGOD,Itshallnotstand,neithershall itcometopass.

8FortheheadofSyriaisDamascus,andtheheadof DamascusisRezin;andwithinthreescoreandfiveyears shallEphraimbebroken,thatitbenotapeople.

9AndtheheadofEphraimisSamaria,andtheheadof SamariaisRemaliah'ssonIfyewillnotbelieve,surelyye shallnotbeestablished.

10MoreovertheLORDspakeagainuntoAhaz,saying, 11AsktheeasignoftheLORDthyGod;askiteitherin thedepth,orintheheightabove

12ButAhazsaid,Iwillnotask,neitherwillItemptthe LORD

13Andhesaid,Hearyenow,OhouseofDavid;Isita smallthingforyoutowearymen,butwillyewearymy Godalso?

14ThereforetheLordhimselfshallgiveyouasign; Behold,avirginshallconceive,andbearason,andshall callhisnameImmanuel.

15Butterandhoneyshallheeat,thathemayknowto refusetheevil,andchoosethegood

16Forbeforethechildshallknowtorefusetheevil,and choosethegood,thelandthatthouabhorrestshallbe forsakenofbothherkings

17TheLORDshallbringuponthee,anduponthypeople, anduponthyfather'shouse,daysthathavenotcome,from thedaythatEphraimdepartedfromJudah;eventhekingof Assyria.

18Anditshallcometopassinthatday,thattheLORD shallhissfortheflythatisintheuttermostpartofthe riversofEgypt,andforthebeethatisinthelandof Assyria.

19Andtheyshallcome,andshallrestalloftheminthe desolatevalleys,andintheholesoftherocks,anduponall thorns,anduponallbushes

20InthesamedayshalltheLordshavewitharazorthatis hired,namely,bythembeyondtheriver,bythekingof Assyria,thehead,andthehairofthefeet:anditshallalso consumethebeard

21Anditshallcometopassinthatday,thatamanshall nourishayoungcow,andtwosheep;

22Anditshallcometopass,fortheabundanceofmilk thattheyshallgiveheshalleatbutter:forbutterandhoney shalleveryoneeatthatisleftintheland

23Anditshallcometopassinthatday,thateveryplace shallbe,wheretherewereathousandvinesatathousand silverlings,itshallevenbeforbriersandthorns

24Witharrowsandwithbowsshallmencomethither; becauseallthelandshallbecomebriersandthorns.

25Andonallhillsthatshallbediggedwiththemattock, thereshallnotcomethitherthefearofbriersandthorns: butitshallbeforthesendingforthofoxen,andforthe treadingoflessercattle

CHAPTER8

1MoreovertheLORDsaiduntome,Taketheeagreatroll, andwriteinitwithaman'spenconcerning Mahershalalhashbaz

2AndItookuntomefaithfulwitnessestorecord,Uriah thepriest,andZechariahthesonofJeberechiah.

3AndIwentuntotheprophetess;andsheconceived,and bareasonThensaidtheLORDtome,Callhisname Mahershalalhashbaz.

4Forbeforethechildshallhaveknowledgetocry,My father,andmymother,therichesofDamascusandthe spoilofSamariashallbetakenawaybeforethekingof Assyria

5TheLORDspakealsountomeagain,saying, 6ForasmuchasthispeoplerefuseththewatersofShiloah thatgosoftly,andrejoiceinRezinandRemaliah'sson;

7Nowtherefore,behold,theLordbringethupuponthem thewatersoftheriver,strongandmany,eventhekingof Assyria,andallhisglory:andheshallcomeupoverallhis channels,andgooverallhisbanks:

8AndheshallpassthroughJudah;heshalloverflowand goover,heshallreacheventotheneck;andthestretching outofhiswingsshallfillthebreadthofthyland,O Immanuel

9Associateyourselves,Oyepeople,andyeshallbe brokeninpieces;andgiveear,allyeoffarcountries:gird yourselves,andyeshallbebrokeninpieces;gird yourselves,andyeshallbebrokeninpieces

10Takecounseltogether,anditshallcometonought; speaktheword,anditshallnotstand:forGodiswithus

11FortheLORDspakethustomewithastronghand,and instructedmethatIshouldnotwalkinthewayofthis people,saying,

12Sayyenot,Aconfederacy,toallthemtowhomthis peopleshallsay,Aconfederacy;neitherfearyetheirfear, norbeafraid

13SanctifytheLORDofhostshimself;andlethimbe yourfear,andlethimbeyourdread.

14Andheshallbeforasanctuary;butforastoneof stumblingandforarockofoffencetoboththehousesof Israel,foraginandforasnaretotheinhabitantsof Jerusalem

15Andmanyamongthemshallstumble,andfall,andbe broken,andbesnared,andbetaken

16Bindupthetestimony,sealthelawamongmydisciples

17AndIwillwaitupontheLORD,thathidethhisface fromthehouseofJacob,andIwilllookforhim

18Behold,IandthechildrenwhomtheLORDhathgiven meareforsignsandforwondersinIsraelfromtheLORD ofhosts,whichdwellethinmountZion

19Andwhentheyshallsayuntoyou,Seekuntothemthat havefamiliarspirits,anduntowizardsthatpeep,andthat mutter:shouldnotapeopleseekuntotheirGod?forthe livingtothedead?

20Tothelawandtothetestimony:iftheyspeaknot accordingtothisword,itisbecausethereisnolightin them

1Neverthelessthedimnessshallnotbesuchaswasinher vexation,whenatthefirsthelightlyafflictedthelandof ZebulunandthelandofNaphtali,andafterwarddidmore grievouslyafflictherbythewayofthesea,beyondJordan, inGalileeofthenations

2Thepeoplethatwalkedindarknesshaveseenagreat light:theythatdwellinthelandoftheshadowofdeath, uponthemhaththelightshined

3Thouhastmultipliedthenation,andnotincreasedthejoy: theyjoybeforetheeaccordingtothejoyinharvest,andas menrejoicewhentheydividethespoil.

4Forthouhastbrokentheyokeofhisburden,andthestaff ofhisshoulder,therodofhisoppressor,asinthedayof Midian

10Thebricksarefallendown,butwewillbuildwithhewn stones:thesycomoresarecutdown,butwewillchange themintocedars

11ThereforetheLORDshallsetuptheadversariesof Rezinagainsthim,andjoinhisenemiestogether;

12TheSyriansbefore,andthePhilistinesbehind;andthey shalldevourIsraelwithopenmouthForallthishisanger isnotturnedaway,buthishandisstretchedoutstill 13Forthepeopleturnethnotuntohimthatsmiteththem, neitherdotheyseektheLORDofhosts

14ThereforetheLORDwillcutofffromIsraelheadand tail,branchandrush,inoneday.

15Theancientandhonourable,heisthehead;andthe prophetthatteachethlies,heisthetail

16Fortheleadersofthispeoplecausethemtoerr;and theythatareledofthemaredestroyed

17ThereforetheLordshallhavenojoyintheiryoungmen, neithershallhavemercyontheirfatherlessandwidows: foreveryoneisanhypocriteandanevildoer,andevery mouthspeakethfollyForallthishisangerisnotturned away,buthishandisstretchedoutstill.

1Woeuntothemthatdecreeunrighteousdecrees,andthat writegrievousnesswhichtheyhaveprescribed;

2Toturnasidetheneedyfromjudgment,andtotakeaway therightfromthepoorofmypeople,thatwidowsmaybe theirprey,andthattheymayrobthefatherless!

3Andwhatwillyedointhedayofvisitation,andinthe desolationwhichshallcomefromfar?towhomwillyeflee forhelp?andwherewillyeleaveyourglory?

2Andthepeopleshalltakethem,andbringthemtotheir place:andthehouseofIsraelshallpossessthemintheland oftheLORDforservantsandhandmaids:andtheyshall takethemcaptives,whosecaptivestheywere;andthey shallruleovertheiroppressors

11Inthedayshaltthoumakethyplanttogrow,andinthe morningshaltthoumakethyseedtoflourish:butthe harvestshallbeaheapinthedayofgriefandofdesperate sorrow

12Woetothemultitudeofmanypeople,whichmakea noiselikethenoiseoftheseas;andtotherushingof nations,thatmakearushingliketherushingofmighty waters!

13Thenationsshallrushliketherushingofmanywaters: butGodshallrebukethem,andtheyshallfleefaroff,and shallbechasedasthechaffofthemountainsbeforethe wind,andlikearollingthingbeforethewhirlwind

1TheburdenofEgyptBehold,theLORDridethupona swiftcloud,andshallcomeintoEgypt:andtheidolsof Egyptshallbemovedathispresence,andtheheartof Egyptshallmeltinthemidstofit

2AndIwillsettheEgyptiansagainsttheEgyptians:and theyshallfighteveryoneagainsthisbrother,andevery oneagainsthisneighbour;cityagainstcity,andkingdom againstkingdom

3AndthespiritofEgyptshallfailinthemidstthereof;and Iwilldestroythecounselthereof:andtheyshallseektothe idols,andtothecharmers,andtothemthathavefamiliar spirits,andtothewizards

4AndtheEgyptianswillIgiveoverintothehandofa cruellord;andafiercekingshallruleoverthem,saiththe Lord,theLORDofhosts

5Andthewatersshallfailfromthesea,andtherivershall bewastedanddriedup.

6Andtheyshallturntheriversfaraway;andthebrooksof defenceshallbeemptiedanddriedup:thereedsandflags shallwither.

7Thepaperreedsbythebrooks,bythemouthofthe brooks,andeverythingsownbythebrooks,shallwither, bedrivenaway,andbenomore

8Inmeasure,whenitshootethforth,thouwiltdebatewith it:hestayethhisroughwindinthedayoftheeastwind 9BythisthereforeshalltheiniquityofJacobbepurged; andthisisallthefruittotakeawayhissin;whenhe makethallthestonesofthealtaraschalkstonesthatare beateninsunder,thegrovesandimagesshallnotstandup 10Yetthedefencedcityshallbedesolate,andthe habitationforsaken,andleftlikeawilderness:thereshall thecalffeed,andthereshallheliedown,andconsumethe branchesthereof.

11Whentheboughsthereofarewithered,theyshallbe brokenoff:thewomencome,andsetthemonfire:foritis apeopleofnounderstanding:thereforehethatmadethem willnothavemercyonthem,andhethatformedthemwill shewthemnofavour

12Anditshallcometopassinthatday,thattheLORD shallbeatofffromthechanneloftheriveruntothestream ofEgypt,andyeshallbegatheredonebyone,Oye childrenofIsrael

13Anditshallcometopassinthatday,thatthegreat trumpetshallbeblown,andtheyshallcomewhichwere readytoperishinthelandofAssyria,andtheoutcastsin thelandofEgypt,andshallworshiptheLORDintheholy mountatJerusalem.

1Woetothecrownofpride,tothedrunkardsofEphraim, whosegloriousbeautyisafadingflower,whichareonthe headofthefatvalleysofthemthatareovercomewithwine!

2Behold,theLordhathamightyandstrongone,whichas atempestofhailandadestroyingstorm,asafloodof mightywatersoverflowing,shallcastdowntotheearth withthehand

3Thecrownofpride,thedrunkardsofEphraim,shallbe troddenunderfeet:

4Andthegloriousbeauty,whichisontheheadofthefat valley,shallbeafadingflower,andasthehastyfruit beforethesummer;whichwhenhethatlookethuponit seeth,whileitisyetinhishandheeatethitup

5InthatdayshalltheLORDofhostsbeforacrownof glory,andforadiademofbeauty,untotheresidueofhis people,

6Andforaspiritofjudgmenttohimthatsittethin judgment,andforstrengthtothemthatturnthebattleto thegate

7Buttheyalsohaveerredthroughwine,andthrough strongdrinkareoutoftheway;thepriestandtheprophet haveerredthroughstrongdrink,theyareswallowedupof wine,theyareoutofthewaythroughstrongdrink;theyerr invision,theystumbleinjudgment

8Foralltablesarefullofvomitandfilthiness,sothatthere isnoplaceclean.

9Whomshallheteachknowledge?andwhomshallhe maketounderstanddoctrine?themthatareweanedfrom themilk,anddrawnfromthebreasts.

10Forpreceptmustbeuponprecept,preceptuponprecept; lineuponline,lineuponline;herealittle,andtherealittle:

11Forwithstammeringlipsandanothertonguewillhe speaktothispeople

12Towhomhesaid,Thisistherestwherewithyemay causethewearytorest;andthisistherefreshing:yetthey wouldnothear

13ButthewordoftheLORDwasuntothempreceptupon precept,preceptuponprecept;lineuponline,lineuponline; herealittle,andtherealittle;thattheymightgo,andfall backward,andbebroken,andsnared,andtaken

14WhereforehearthewordoftheLORD,yescornfulmen, thatrulethispeoplewhichisinJerusalem

15Becauseyehavesaid,Wehavemadeacovenantwith death,andwithhellareweatagreement;whenthe overflowingscourgeshallpassthrough,itshallnotcome untous:forwehavemadeliesourrefuge,andunder falsehoodhavewehidourselves:

16ThereforethussaiththeLordGOD,Behold,Ilayin Zionforafoundationastone,atriedstone,aprecious cornerstone,asurefoundation:hethatbelievethshallnot makehaste

17JudgmentalsowillIlaytotheline,andrighteousnessto theplummet:andthehailshallsweepawaytherefugeof lies,andthewatersshalloverflowthehidingplace

18Andyourcovenantwithdeathshallbedisannulled,and youragreementwithhellshallnotstand;whenthe overflowingscourgeshallpassthrough,thenyeshallbe troddendownbyit.

19Fromthetimethatitgoethforthitshalltakeyou:for morningbymorningshallitpassover,bydayandbynight: anditshallbeavexationonlytounderstandthereport

20Forthebedisshorterthanthatamancanstretch himselfonit:andthecoveringnarrowerthanthathecan wraphimselfinit

21FortheLORDshallriseupasinmountPerazim,he shallbewrothasinthevalleyofGibeon,thathemaydo hiswork,hisstrangework;andbringtopasshisact,his strangeact

22Nowthereforebeyenotmockers,lestyourbandsbe madestrong:forIhaveheardfromtheLordGODofhosts aconsumption,evendetermineduponthewholeearth.

23Giveyeear,andhearmyvoice;hearken,andhearmy speech

24Doththeplowmanplowalldaytosow?dothheopen andbreaktheclodsofhisground?

25Whenhehathmadeplainthefacethereof,dothhenot castabroadthefitches,andscatterthecummin,andcastin theprincipalwheatandtheappointedbarleyandtheriein theirplace?

1WoetoAriel,toAriel,thecitywhereDaviddwelt!add yeyeartoyear;letthemkillsacrifices.

2YetIwilldistressAriel,andthereshallbeheavinessand sorrow:anditshallbeuntomeasAriel

3AndIwillcampagainsttheeroundabout,andwilllay siegeagainsttheewithamount,andIwillraiseforts againstthee

4Andthoushaltbebroughtdown,andshaltspeakoutof theground,andthyspeechshallbelowoutofthedust,and thyvoiceshallbe,asofonethathathafamiliarspirit,out oftheground,andthyspeechshallwhisperoutofthedust.

5Moreoverthemultitudeofthystrangersshallbelike smalldust,andthemultitudeoftheterribleonesshallbeas chaffthatpassethaway:yea,itshallbeataninstant suddenly

6ThoushaltbevisitedoftheLORDofhostswiththunder, andwithearthquake,andgreatnoise,withstormand tempest,andtheflameofdevouringfire

7Andthemultitudeofallthenationsthatfightagainst Ariel,evenallthatfightagainstherandhermunition,and thatdistressher,shallbeasadreamofanightvision

8Itshallevenbeaswhenanhungrymandreameth,and, behold,heeateth;butheawaketh,andhissoulisempty:or aswhenathirstymandreameth,and,behold,hedrinketh; butheawaketh,and,behold,heisfaint,andhissoulhath appetite:soshallthemultitudeofallthenationsbe,that fightagainstmountZion

13WhereforetheLordsaid,Forasmuchasthispeople drawnearmewiththeirmouth,andwiththeirlipsdo honourme,buthaveremovedtheirheartfarfromme,and theirfeartowardmeistaughtbythepreceptofmen:

14Therefore,behold,Iwillproceedtodoamarvellous workamongthispeople,evenamarvellousworkanda wonder:forthewisdomoftheirwisemenshallperish,and theunderstandingoftheirprudentmenshallbehid 15Woeuntothemthatseekdeeptohidetheircounsel fromtheLORD,andtheirworksareinthedark,andthey say,Whoseethus?andwhoknowethus?

16Surelyyourturningofthingsupsidedownshallbe esteemedasthepotter'sclay:forshalltheworksayofhim thatmadeit,Hemademenot?orshallthethingframedsay ofhimthatframedit,Hehadnounderstanding?

17Isitnotyetaverylittlewhile,andLebanonshallbe turnedintoafruitfulfield,andthefruitfulfieldshallbe esteemedasaforest?

18Andinthatdayshallthedeafhearthewordsofthe book,andtheeyesoftheblindshallseeoutofobscurity, andoutofdarkness.

19ThemeekalsoshallincreasetheirjoyintheLORD,and thepooramongmenshallrejoiceintheHolyOneofIsrael

20Fortheterribleoneisbroughttonought,andthescorner isconsumed,andallthatwatchforiniquityarecutoff:

21Thatmakeamananoffenderforaword,andlayasnare forhimthatreprovethinthegate,andturnasidethejust forathingofnought

22ThereforethussaiththeLORD,whoredeemed Abraham,concerningthehouseofJacob,Jacobshallnot nowbeashamed,neithershallhisfacenowwaxpale

23Butwhenheseethhischildren,theworkofminehands, inthemidstofhim,theyshallsanctifymyname,and sanctifytheHolyOneofJacob,andshallfeartheGodof Israel.

1Woetotherebelliouschildren,saiththeLORD,thattake counsel,butnotofme;andthatcoverwithacovering,but notofmyspirit,thattheymayaddsintosin:

2ThatwalktogodownintoEgypt,andhavenotaskedat mymouth;tostrengthenthemselvesinthestrengthof Pharaoh,andtotrustintheshadowofEgypt!

3ThereforeshallthestrengthofPharaohbeyourshame, andthetrustintheshadowofEgyptyourconfusion

4ForhisprinceswereatZoan,andhisambassadorscame toHanes.

5Theywereallashamedofapeoplethatcouldnotprofit them,norbeanhelpnorprofit,butashame,andalsoa reproach.

6Theburdenofthebeastsofthesouth:intothelandof troubleandanguish,fromwhencecometheyoungandold lion,theviperandfieryflyingserpent,theywillcarrytheir richesupontheshouldersofyoungasses,andtheir treasuresuponthebunchesofcamels,toapeoplethatshall notprofitthem

10Whichsaytotheseers,Seenot;andtotheprophets, Prophesynotuntousrightthings,speakuntoussmooth things,prophesydeceits:

11Getyououtoftheway,turnasideoutofthepath,cause theHolyOneofIsraeltoceasefrombeforeus

12WhereforethussaiththeHolyOneofIsrael,Becauseye despisethisword,andtrustinoppressionandperverseness, andstaythereon:

13Thereforethisiniquityshallbetoyouasabreachready tofall,swellingoutinahighwall,whosebreakingcometh suddenlyataninstant

14Andheshallbreakitasthebreakingofthepotters' vesselthatisbrokeninpieces;heshallnotspare:sothat thereshallnotbefoundintheburstingofitasherdtotake firefromthehearth,ortotakewaterwithaloutofthepit 15ForthussaiththeLordGOD,theHolyOneofIsrael;In returningandrestshallyebesaved;inquietnessandin confidenceshallbeyourstrength:andyewouldnot 16Butyesaid,No;forwewillfleeuponhorses;therefore shallyeflee:and,Wewillrideupontheswift;therefore shalltheythatpursueyoubeswift

17Onethousandshallfleeattherebukeofone;atthe rebukeoffiveshallyeflee:tillyebeleftasabeaconupon thetopofamountain,andasanensignonanhill

18AndthereforewilltheLORDwait,thathemaybe graciousuntoyou,andthereforewillhebeexalted,thathe mayhavemercyuponyou:fortheLORDisaGodof judgment:blessedarealltheythatwaitforhim.

19ForthepeopleshalldwellinZionatJerusalem:thou shaltweepnomore:hewillbeverygraciousuntotheeat thevoiceofthycry;whenheshallhearit,hewillanswer thee

20AndthoughtheLordgiveyouthebreadofadversity, andthewaterofaffliction,yetshallnotthyteachersbe removedintoacorneranymore,butthineeyesshallsee thyteachers:

21Andthineearsshallhearawordbehindthee,saying, Thisistheway,walkyeinit,whenyeturntotheright hand,andwhenyeturntotheleft.

22Yeshalldefilealsothecoveringofthygravenimages ofsilver,andtheornamentofthymoltenimagesofgold: thoushaltcastthemawayasamenstruouscloth;thoushalt sayuntoit,Gettheehence

23Thenshallhegivetherainofthyseed,thatthoushalt sowthegroundwithal;andbreadoftheincreaseofthe earth,anditshallbefatandplenteous:inthatdayshallthy cattlefeedinlargepastures.

24Theoxenlikewiseandtheyoungassesthatearthe groundshalleatcleanprovender,whichhathbeen winnowedwiththeshovelandwiththefan

25Andthereshallbeuponeveryhighmountain,andupon everyhighhill,riversandstreamsofwatersinthedayof thegreatslaughter,whenthetowersfall

26Moreoverthelightofthemoonshallbeasthelightof thesun,andthelightofthesunshallbesevenfold,asthe lightofsevendays,inthedaythattheLORDbindethup thebreachofhispeople,andhealeththestrokeoftheir wound

27Behold,thenameoftheLORDcomethfromfar, burningwithhisanger,andtheburdenthereofisheavy:his lipsarefullofindignation,andhistongueasadevouring fire:

28Andhisbreath,asanoverflowingstream,shallreachto themidstoftheneck,tosiftthenationswiththesieveof vanity:andthereshallbeabridleinthejawsofthepeople, causingthemtoerr

29Yeshallhaveasong,asinthenightwhenaholy solemnityiskept;andgladnessofheart,aswhenonegoeth withapipetocomeintothemountainoftheLORD,tothe mightyOneofIsrael

30AndtheLORDshallcausehisgloriousvoicetobe heard,andshallshewthelightingdownofhisarm,with theindignationofhisanger,andwiththeflameofa devouringfire,withscattering,andtempest,andhailstones.

31ForthroughthevoiceoftheLORDshalltheAssyrian bebeatendown,whichsmotewitharod

32Andineveryplacewherethegroundedstaffshallpass, whichtheLORDshalllayuponhim,itshallbewithtabrets andharps:andinbattlesofshakingwillhefightwithit

33ForTophetisordainedofold;yea,forthekingitis prepared;hehathmadeitdeepandlarge:thepilethereofis fireandmuchwood;thebreathoftheLORD,likeastream ofbrimstone,dothkindleit.

CHAPTER31

1WoetothemthatgodowntoEgyptforhelp;andstayon horses,andtrustinchariots,becausetheyaremany;andin horsemen,becausetheyareverystrong;buttheylooknot untotheHolyOneofIsrael,neitherseektheLORD!

2Yethealsoiswise,andwillbringevil,andwillnotcall backhiswords:butwillariseagainstthehouseofthe evildoers,andagainstthehelpofthemthatworkiniquity

3NowtheEgyptiansaremen,andnotGod;andtheir horsesflesh,andnotspirit.WhentheLORDshallstretch outhishand,bothhethathelpethshallfall,andhethatis holpenshallfalldown,andtheyallshallfailtogether

4ForthushaththeLORDspokenuntome,Likeasthelion andtheyounglionroaringonhisprey,whenamultitudeof shepherdsiscalledforthagainsthim,hewillnotbeafraid oftheirvoice,norabasehimselfforthenoiseofthem:so shalltheLORDofhostscomedowntofightformount Zion,andforthehillthereof.

5Asbirdsflying,sowilltheLORDofhostsdefend Jerusalem;defendingalsohewilldeliverit;andpassing overhewillpreserveit

6TurnyeuntohimfromwhomthechildrenofIsraelhave deeplyrevolted.

7Forinthatdayeverymanshallcastawayhisidolsof silver,andhisidolsofgold,whichyourownhandshave madeuntoyouforasin.

8ThenshalltheAssyrianfallwiththesword,notofa mightyman;andthesword,notofameanman,shall devourhim:butheshallfleefromthesword,andhis youngmenshallbediscomfited

9Andheshallpassovertohisstrongholdforfear,andhis princesshallbeafraidoftheensign,saiththeLORD, whosefireisinZion,andhisfurnaceinJerusalem

CHAPTER32

1Behold,akingshallreigninrighteousness,andprinces shallruleinjudgment

2Andamanshallbeasanhidingplacefromthewind,and acovertfromthetempest;asriversofwaterinadryplace, astheshadowofagreatrockinawearyland

3Andtheeyesofthemthatseeshallnotbedim,andthe earsofthemthathearshallhearken.

4Theheartalsooftherashshallunderstandknowledge, andthetongueofthestammerersshallbereadytospeak plainly.

5Thevilepersonshallbenomorecalledliberal,northe churlsaidtobebountiful

6Forthevilepersonwillspeakvillany,andhisheartwill workiniquity,topractisehypocrisy,andtouttererror againsttheLORD,tomakeemptythesoulofthehungry, andhewillcausethedrinkofthethirstytofail.

7Theinstrumentsalsoofthechurlareevil:hedeviseth wickeddevicestodestroythepoorwithlyingwords,even whentheneedyspeakethright.

8Buttheliberaldevisethliberalthings;andbyliberal thingsshallhestand

9Riseup,yewomenthatareatease;hearmyvoice,ye carelessdaughters;giveearuntomyspeech

10Manydaysandyearsshallyebetroubled,yecareless women:forthevintageshallfail,thegatheringshallnot come

11Tremble,yewomenthatareatease;betroubled,ye carelessones:stripyou,andmakeyoubare,andgird sackclothuponyourloins

12Theyshalllamentfortheteats,forthepleasantfields, forthefruitfulvine

13Uponthelandofmypeopleshallcomeupthornsand briers;yea,uponallthehousesofjoyinthejoyouscity:

14Becausethepalacesshallbeforsaken;themultitudeof thecityshallbeleft;thefortsandtowersshallbefordens forever,ajoyofwildasses,apastureofflocks;

15Untilthespiritbepoureduponusfromonhigh,andthe wildernessbeafruitfulfield,andthefruitfulfieldbe countedforaforest.

16Thenjudgmentshalldwellinthewilderness,and righteousnessremaininthefruitfulfield

17Andtheworkofrighteousnessshallbepeace;andthe effectofrighteousnessquietnessandassuranceforever

18Andmypeopleshalldwellinapeaceablehabitation, andinsuredwellings,andinquietrestingplaces; 19Whenitshallhail,comingdownontheforest;andthe cityshallbelowinalowplace.

20Blessedareyethatsowbesideallwaters,thatsendforth thitherthefeetoftheoxandtheass

1Woetotheethatspoilest,andthouwastnotspoiled;and dealesttreacherously,andtheydealtnottreacherouslywith thee!whenthoushaltceasetospoil,thoushaltbespoiled; andwhenthoushaltmakeanendtodealtreacherously, theyshalldealtreacherouslywiththee

2OLORD,begraciousuntous;wehavewaitedforthee: bethoutheirarmeverymorning,oursalvationalsointhe timeoftrouble

3Atthenoiseofthetumultthepeoplefled;attheliftingup ofthyselfthenationswerescattered.

4Andyourspoilshallbegatheredlikethegatheringofthe caterpiller:astherunningtoandfrooflocustsshallherun uponthem.

5TheLORDisexalted;forhedwellethonhigh:hehath filledZionwithjudgmentandrighteousness

9Theearthmournethandlanguisheth:Lebanonisashamed andhewndown:Sharonislikeawilderness;andBashan andCarmelshakeofftheirfruits

10NowwillIrise,saiththeLORD;nowwillIbeexalted; nowwillIliftupmyself.

11Yeshallconceivechaff,yeshallbringforthstubble: yourbreath,asfire,shalldevouryou

12Andthepeopleshallbeastheburningsoflime:as thornscutupshalltheybeburnedinthefire

13Hear,yethatarefaroff,whatIhavedone;and,yethat arenear,acknowledgemymight.

14ThesinnersinZionareafraid;fearfulnesshathsurprised thehypocritesWhoamongusshalldwellwiththe devouringfire?whoamongusshalldwellwitheverlasting burnings?

15Hethatwalkethrighteously,andspeakethuprightly;he thatdespiseththegainofoppressions,thatshakethhis handsfromholdingofbribes,thatstoppethhisearsfrom hearingofblood,andshuttethhiseyesfromseeingevil;

16Heshalldwellonhigh:hisplaceofdefenceshallbethe munitionsofrocks:breadshallbegivenhim;hiswaters shallbesure

17Thineeyesshallseethekinginhisbeauty:theyshall beholdthelandthatisveryfaroff

18Thineheartshallmeditateterror.Whereisthescribe? whereisthereceiver?whereishethatcountedthetowers?

19Thoushaltnotseeafiercepeople,apeopleofadeeper speechthanthoucanstperceive;ofastammeringtongue, thatthoucanstnotunderstand

20LookuponZion,thecityofoursolemnities:thineeyes shallseeJerusalemaquiethabitation,atabernaclethat shallnotbetakendown;notoneofthestakesthereofshall everberemoved,neithershallanyofthecordsthereofbe broken.

21ButtherethegloriousLORDwillbeuntousaplaceof broadriversandstreams;whereinshallgonogalleywith oars,neithershallgallantshippassthereby.

22FortheLORDisourjudge,theLORDisourlawgiver, theLORDisourking;hewillsaveus

23Thytacklingsareloosed;theycouldnotwellstrengthen theirmast,theycouldnotspreadthesail:thenistheprey ofagreatspoildivided;thelametaketheprey.

24Andtheinhabitantshallnotsay,Iamsick:thepeople thatdwellthereinshallbeforgiventheiriniquity

1Comenear,yenations,tohear;andhearken,yepeople: lettheearthhear,andallthatistherein;theworld,andall thingsthatcomeforthofit

2FortheindignationoftheLORDisuponallnations,and hisfuryuponalltheirarmies:hehathutterlydestroyed them,hehathdeliveredthemtotheslaughter

3Theirslainalsoshallbecastout,andtheirstinkshall comeupoutoftheircarcases,andthemountainsshallbe meltedwiththeirblood

4Andallthehostofheavenshallbedissolved,andthe heavensshallberolledtogetherasascroll:andalltheir hostshallfalldown,astheleaffallethofffromthevine, andasafallingfigfromthefigtree.

5Formyswordshallbebathedinheaven:behold,itshall comedownuponIdumea,anduponthepeopleofmycurse, tojudgment.

6TheswordoftheLORDisfilledwithblood,itismade fatwithfatness,andwiththebloodoflambsandgoats, withthefatofthekidneysoframs:fortheLORDhatha sacrificeinBozrah,andagreatslaughterinthelandof Idumea

7Andtheunicornsshallcomedownwiththem,andthe bullockswiththebulls;andtheirlandshallbesoakedwith blood,andtheirdustmadefatwithfatness

8ForitisthedayoftheLORD'Svengeance,andtheyear ofrecompencesforthecontroversyofZion

9Andthestreamsthereofshallbeturnedintopitch,and thedustthereofintobrimstone,andthelandthereofshall becomeburningpitch

10Itshallnotbequenchednightnorday;thesmoke thereofshallgoupforever:fromgenerationtogeneration itshallliewaste;noneshallpassthroughitforeverand ever

11Butthecormorantandthebitternshallpossessit;the owlalsoandtheravenshalldwellinit:andheshallstretch outuponitthelineofconfusion,andthestonesof emptiness

12Theyshallcallthenoblesthereoftothekingdom,but noneshallbethere,andallherprincesshallbenothing.

1Thewildernessandthesolitaryplaceshallbegladfor them;andthedesertshallrejoice,andblossomastherose.

2Itshallblossomabundantly,andrejoiceevenwithjoy andsinging:thegloryofLebanonshallbegivenuntoit, theexcellencyofCarmelandSharon,theyshallseethe gloryoftheLORD,andtheexcellencyofourGod

1Beholdmyservant,whomIuphold;mineelect,inwhom mysouldelighteth;Ihaveputmyspirituponhim:heshall bringforthjudgmenttotheGentiles

2Heshallnotcry,norliftup,norcausehisvoicetobe heardinthestreet.

3Abruisedreedshallhenotbreak,andthesmokingflax shallhenotquench:heshallbringforthjudgmentunto truth.

4Heshallnotfailnorbediscouraged,tillhehaveset judgmentintheearth:andtheislesshallwaitforhislaw

5ThussaithGodtheLORD,hethatcreatedtheheavens, andstretchedthemout;hethatspreadforththeearth,and thatwhichcomethoutofit;hethatgivethbreathuntothe peopleuponit,andspirittothemthatwalktherein:

6ItheLORDhavecalledtheeinrighteousness,andwill holdthinehand,andwillkeepthee,andgivetheefora covenantofthepeople,foralightoftheGentiles;

7Toopentheblindeyes,tobringouttheprisonersfrom theprison,andthemthatsitindarknessoutoftheprison house

11Letthewildernessandthecitiesthereofliftuptheir voice,thevillagesthatKedardothinhabit:letthe inhabitantsoftherocksing,letthemshoutfromthetopof themountains

12LetthemgivegloryuntotheLORD,anddeclarehis praiseintheislands.

13TheLORDshallgoforthasamightyman,heshallstir upjealousylikeamanofwar:heshallcry,yea,roar;he shallprevailagainsthisenemies.

14Ihavelongtimeholdenmypeace;Ihavebeenstill,and refrainedmyself:nowwillIcrylikeatravailingwoman;I willdestroyanddevouratonce.

20Seeingmanythings,butthouobservestnot;openingthe ears,buthehearethnot.

21TheLORDiswellpleasedforhisrighteousness'sake; hewillmagnifythelaw,andmakeithonourable

22Butthisisapeoplerobbedandspoiled;theyareallof themsnaredinholes,andtheyarehidinprisonhouses: theyareforaprey,andnonedelivereth;foraspoil,and nonesaith,Restore.

23Whoamongyouwillgiveeartothis?whowillhearken andhearforthetimetocome?

24WhogaveJacobforaspoil,andIsraeltotherobbers? didnottheLORD,heagainstwhomwehavesinned?for theywouldnotwalkinhisways,neitherwerethey obedientuntohislaw.

25Thereforehehathpoureduponhimthefuryofhisanger, andthestrengthofbattle:andithathsethimonfireround about,yetheknewnot;anditburnedhim,yethelaiditnot toheart

1ButnowthussaiththeLORDthatcreatedthee,OJacob, andhethatformedthee,OIsrael,Fearnot:forIhave redeemedthee,Ihavecalledtheebythyname;thouart mine.

2Whenthoupassestthroughthewaters,Iwillbewiththee; andthroughtherivers,theyshallnotoverflowthee:when thouwalkestthroughthefire,thoushaltnotbeburned; neithershalltheflamekindleuponthee.

3ForIamtheLORDthyGod,theHolyOneofIsrael,thy Saviour:IgaveEgyptforthyransom,EthiopiaandSeba forthee

4Sincethouwastpreciousinmysight,thouhastbeen honourable,andIhavelovedthee:thereforewillIgive menforthee,andpeopleforthylife

5Fearnot:forIamwiththee:Iwillbringthyseedfrom theeast,andgathertheefromthewest;

3ForIwillpourwateruponhimthatisthirsty,andfloods uponthedryground:Iwillpourmyspirituponthyseed, andmyblessinguponthineoffspring:

4Andtheyshallspringupasamongthegrass,aswillows bythewatercourses

5Oneshallsay,IamtheLORD'S;andanothershallcall himselfbythenameofJacob;andanothershallsubscribe withhishanduntotheLORD,andsurnamehimselfbythe nameofIsrael.

8Fearyenot,neitherbeafraid:havenotItoldtheefrom thattime,andhavedeclaredit?yeareevenmywitnesses. IsthereaGodbesideme?yea,thereisnoGod;Iknownot any

9Theythatmakeagravenimageareallofthemvanity; andtheirdelectablethingsshallnotprofit;andtheyare theirownwitnesses;theyseenot,norknow;thattheymay beashamed.

10Whohathformedagod,ormoltenagravenimagethat isprofitablefornothing?

13Thecarpenterstretchethouthisrule;hemarkethitout withaline;hefittethitwithplanes,andhemarkethitout withthecompass,andmakethitafterthefigureofaman, accordingtothebeautyofaman;thatitmayremaininthe house

14Hehewethhimdowncedars,andtakeththecypressand theoak,whichhestrengthenethforhimselfamongthe treesoftheforest:heplantethanash,andtheraindoth nourishit

2Iwillgobeforethee,andmakethecrookedplaces straight:Iwillbreakinpiecesthegatesofbrass,andcutin sunderthebarsofiron:

3AndIwillgivetheethetreasuresofdarkness,andhidden richesofsecretplaces,thatthoumayestknowthatI,the LORD,whichcalltheebythyname,amtheGodofIsrael

1Belbowethdown,Nebostoopeth,theiridolswereupon thebeasts,anduponthecattle:yourcarriageswereheavy loaden;theyareaburdentothewearybeast

2Theystoop,theybowdowntogether;theycouldnot delivertheburden,butthemselvesaregoneintocaptivity.

3Hearkenuntome,OhouseofJacob,andalltheremnant ofthehouseofIsrael,whicharebornebymefromthe belly,whicharecarriedfromthewomb:

4AndeventoyouroldageIamhe;andeventohoarhairs willIcarryyou:Ihavemade,andIwillbear;evenIwill carry,andwilldeliveryou.

5Towhomwillyelikenme,andmakemeequal,and compareme,thatwemaybelike?

6Theylavishgoldoutofthebag,andweighsilverinthe balance,andhireagoldsmith;andhemakethitagod:they falldown,yea,theyworship

3Thynakednessshallbeuncovered,yea,thyshameshall beseen:Iwilltakevengeance,andIwillnotmeettheeasa man

4Asforourredeemer,theLORDofhostsishisname,the HolyOneofIsrael

2Forheshallgrowupbeforehimasatenderplant,andas arootoutofadryground:hehathnoformnorcomeliness; andwhenweshallseehim,thereisnobeautythatwe shoulddesirehim.

3Heisdespisedandrejectedofmen;amanofsorrows, andacquaintedwithgrief:andwehidasitwereourfaces fromhim;hewasdespised,andweesteemedhimnot.

4Surelyhehathborneourgriefs,andcarriedoursorrows: yetwedidesteemhimstricken,smittenofGod,and afflicted.

2Yettheyseekmedaily,anddelighttoknowmyways,as anationthatdidrighteousness,andforsooknotthe ordinanceoftheirGod:theyaskofmetheordinancesof justice;theytakedelightinapproachingtoGod

3Whereforehavewefasted,saythey,andthouseestnot? whereforehaveweafflictedoursoul,andthoutakestno knowledge?Behold,inthedayofyourfastyefind pleasure,andexactallyourlabours.

7Isitnottodealthybreadtothehungry,andthatthou bringthepoorthatarecastouttothyhouse?whenthou seestthenaked,thatthoucoverhim;andthatthouhidenot thyselffromthineownflesh?

8Thenshallthylightbreakforthasthemorning,andthine healthshallspringforthspeedily:andthyrighteousness shallgobeforethee;thegloryoftheLORDshallbethy rereward.

9Thenshaltthoucall,andtheLORDshallanswer;thou shaltcry,andheshallsay,HereIam.Ifthoutakeaway fromthemidstoftheetheyoke,theputtingforthofthe finger,andspeakingvanity;

3Foryourhandsaredefiledwithblood,andyourfingers withiniquity;yourlipshavespokenlies,yourtonguehath mutteredperverseness

4Nonecallethforjustice,noranypleadethfortruth:they trustinvanity,andspeaklies;theyconceivemischief,and bringforthiniquity

8Whoarethesethatflyasacloud,andasthedovesto theirwindows?

9Surelytheislesshallwaitforme,andtheshipsof Tarshishfirst,tobringthysonsfromfar,theirsilverand theirgoldwiththem,untothenameoftheLORDthyGod, andtotheHolyOneofIsrael,becausehehathglorified thee

1TheSpiritoftheLordGODisuponme;becausethe LORDhathanointedmetopreachgoodtidingsuntothe meek;hehathsentmetobindupthebrokenhearted,to proclaimlibertytothecaptives,andtheopeningofthe prisontothemthatarebound;

2ToproclaimtheacceptableyearoftheLORD,andthe dayofvengeanceofourGod;tocomfortallthatmourn;

3ToappointuntothemthatmourninZion,togiveunto thembeautyforashes,theoilofjoyformourning,the garmentofpraiseforthespiritofheaviness;thatthey mightbecalledtreesofrighteousness,theplantingofthe LORD,thathemightbeglorified

4Andtheyshallbuildtheoldwastes,theyshallraiseup theformerdesolations,andtheyshallrepairthewaste cities,thedesolationsofmanygenerations.

5Andstrangersshallstandandfeedyourflocks,andthe sonsofthealienshallbeyourplowmenandyour vinedressers

6ButyeshallbenamedthePriestsoftheLORD:men shallcallyoutheMinistersofourGod:yeshalleatthe richesoftheGentiles,andintheirgloryshallyeboast yourselves

2Forallthosethingshathminehandmade,andallthose thingshavebeen,saiththeLORD:buttothismanwillI look,eventohimthatispoorandofacontritespirit,and tremblethatmyword

8Whohathheardsuchathing?whohathseensuchthings? Shalltheearthbemadetobringforthinoneday?orshalla nationbebornatonce?forassoonasZiontravailed,she broughtforthherchildren

9ShallIbringtothebirth,andnotcausetobringforth? saiththeLORD:shallIcausetobringforth,andshutthe womb?saiththyGod

10RejoiceyewithJerusalem,andbegladwithher,allye thatloveher:rejoiceforjoywithher,allyethatmournfor her:

11Thatyemaysuck,andbesatisfiedwiththebreastsof herconsolations;thatyemaymilkout,andbedelighted withtheabundanceofherglory

12ForthussaiththeLORD,Behold,Iwillextendpeaceto herlikeariver,andthegloryoftheGentileslikeaflowing stream:thenshallyesuck,yeshallbeborneuponhersides, andbedandleduponherknees

13Asonewhomhismothercomforteth,sowillIcomfort you;andyeshallbecomfortedinJerusalem

14Andwhenyeseethis,yourheartshallrejoice,andyour bonesshallflourishlikeanherb:andthehandofthe LORDshallbeknowntowardhisservants,andhis indignationtowardhisenemies

15For,behold,theLORDwillcomewithfire,andwithhis chariotslikeawhirlwind,torenderhisangerwithfury,and hisrebukewithflamesoffire

16ForbyfireandbyhisswordwilltheLORDpleadwith allflesh:andtheslainoftheLORDshallbemany

17Theythatsanctifythemselves,andpurifythemselvesin thegardensbehindonetreeinthemidst,eatingswine's flesh,andtheabomination,andthemouse,shallbe consumedtogether,saiththeLORD.

18ForIknowtheirworksandtheirthoughts:itshallcome, thatIwillgatherallnationsandtongues;andtheyshall come,andseemyglory

19AndIwillsetasignamongthem,andIwillsendthose thatescapeofthemuntothenations,toTarshish,Pul,and Lud,thatdrawthebow,toTubal,andJavan,totheisles afaroff,thathavenotheardmyfame,neitherhaveseenmy glory;andtheyshalldeclaremygloryamongtheGentiles.

20Andtheyshallbringallyourbrethrenforanoffering untotheLORDoutofallnationsuponhorses,andin chariots,andinlitters,anduponmules,anduponswift beasts,tomyholymountainJerusalem,saiththeLORD,as thechildrenofIsraelbringanofferinginacleanvesselinto thehouseoftheLORD

21AndIwillalsotakeofthemforpriestsandforLevites, saiththeLORD.

22Forasthenewheavensandthenewearth,whichIwill make,shallremainbeforeme,saiththeLORD,soshall yourseedandyournameremain.

23Anditshallcometopass,thatfromonenewmoonto another,andfromonesabbathtoanother,shallallflesh cometoworshipbeforeme,saiththeLORD.

24Andtheyshallgoforth,andlookuponthecarcasesof thementhathavetransgressedagainstme:fortheirworm shallnotdie,neithershalltheirfirebequenched;andthey shallbeanabhorringuntoallflesh
