Anam Cara House (a palliative care facility) in Geelong recently advised the Board of Governors that it wished to recognise the advocacy and support received from former board member, the late Sir James GobboAC CVO QC,

The Southern View area atAnam Cara House will be named "Sir James Gobbo AC CVO QC Southern View", situated with views to the east to Point Nepean, to the south to farmland and vineyards and to the sunset in the west.

PROGRAM AREAS & FUNDING ROUNDS

The Foundation's Environment program will not be open for grant applications until 2024. This is due to our Senior Program Manager – Environment, LouiseArkles, taking up extended study leave to attend Cambridge University to complete a Master of Conservation Leadership.

While Louise is away, Elena Mogilevski, an experienced philanthropic program manager and senior philanthropic consultant, will assist the Foundation in a part-time capacity to manage all current grants in the Environment program area.

Welcome Workshop for new grantees

Dates for the next grantee Welcome Workshops have been set. All new grantees should have received an email inviting their staff to attend one of three workshops:

Sydney: Thursday 27 October – NSW-based organisations

Melbourne:Thursday 3 November Victoria-based organisations

Virtual: Tuesday 8 November – other states

Grantee news UWA's Art of Good Mental Health

To increase community awareness of the impact of recreational arts on mental health, the GoodArts, Good Mental Health Project has been developed.

This cross-sector, multi-university project, led by the University of WesternAustralia, is currently calling for input from the general public in the development of a campaign, courses and programs.

Community feedback can be provided via the consultation survey until 28 October 2002, helping to guide the project.

The Social Enterprise World Forum 2022 (SEWF) was recently held in Brisbane. Hosted by White Box Enterprises, this hybrid in-person/virtual event was a roaring success with:

2,770 participants

93 countries represented 70 sessions

20% of speakers under 30 years old

Over 70% were first-time SEWF speakers

Over 60% of speakers identified as women or girls

SEWF is the flagship event for the global social enterprise community, providing space for purpose-led people, policymakers, philanthropists, intermediaries and entrepreneurs to connect, learn and be inspired.

Rohan Martyres – Major Grants Development Manager

Rohan Martyres joined the Foundation in July 2022. In this new role, he supports cross-sector partnerships and develops Flagship Grants to help tackle some of the most pressing issues facingAustralians to create a substantially more fair, healthy, sustainable, and vibrantAustralia.

Rohan has 15 years of experience in facilitating cross-sector collaborations for social and health equity. He has worked with the World Economic Forum in Australia, led an international conflict resolution field team in Nepal, and managed a social impact investment fund and consultancy in London.
