Suzuki Motor Corporation unveiled this all new SX4 S-Cross Crossover at the 2013 Geneva Motor Show. This is the production model that replaces the current SX4 and is ready to purchase. Along with other brands it intends to go after the popular Nissan Qashqai. SX4 4WD capability derives from their Swift model with two engine choices; 1.6ltr petrol and a 1.6ltr diesel with a variable geometry turbocharger which ensures plenty of torque from the low end of the rev range. A five-speed manual gearbox is available with the petrol engine and a six-speed manual with the diesel. The top-spec SZ5 version comes with toys including cruise control, dual-zone climate, sat-nav, Bluetooth, heated leather seats and a panoramic glass sunroof.

On my travels around the UK recently I spotted a Smart car parked slightly unusually which got me thinking: One of the advantages of owning a Smart car is the size and ability of parking in very tight spaces and after searching the web here we have some examples of some really Smart Parking.

MOTORS IN THE NEWS Green for Go. The clever people at Audi have designed a new traffic light recognition system. The production ready technology uses Audi Connect, the car's in-built WiFi connection, to establish a link between the car and the traffic light network via the town or city's traffic computer. When the automated traffic light change sequences in the area are downloaded, the car can then tell the driver the exact speed at which to travel in order to go through the lights on green. Also, if the driver is at a red light, the system will calculate the time until the next green light is due to appear and display this information as a countdown timer on the car's infotainment screen. The start-stop system will also make sure the engine switches back on five seconds before the green light appears. Audi estimates that the system has the capacity to reduce CO2 emissions by up to 15 per cent and could save 900 million litres of fuel if used throughout Germany. It is ready to be used across the full Audi range, providing the necessary relevant government legislation is passed.
Baby Jag. The small Jaguar sports saloon, which will replace the X-Type and sit below the XF will be called the XE. The BMW 3-Series rival will be available from early next year and feature the new Ingenuim engines in rear and four-wheel drive versions, and a 550bhp top of the range model. Dr Ralf Speth, CEO of Jaguar Land Rover, said: ‘XE will be an all-new Jaguar, delivering an advanced aluminium structure which is a first in its segment. It will bring our customers all the benefits of aluminium: lightness, stiffness, for unbeatable handling and efficiency. The new engine and aluminium architecture complement each other; they create a car that drives, feels and looks like a true Jaguar.’
David Beckham Gets a New Job. The former England captain will be the face of Jaguar cars in China. He will feature in TV and newspaper advert campaigns and his first role is for the new Jaguar F-Type Coupé. Formula E on ITV. ITV will broadcast live coverage of the new FIA Formula E electric car championship in the UK when it launches later this year. The free-to-air channel ITV4 will broadcast all races live and online. That's great news since F1 and now the MotoGP have moved to pay channels. ITV4 have an impressive motorsport portfolio, which includes extensive live coverage of the BTCC, the World Rally Championship, MotoGP highlights and the British Superbikes Championship highlights. Other sporting events covered by the channel include the Isle of Man TT, The Goodwood FOS and Revival and highlights of the BRDC Formula 4 single-seater series. Tune in at 9pm following the live race at the weekend (Spanish time); Monday MotoGP highlights, World Rally Championship on Tuesdays and British Superbike Championship on Wednesdays. Formula E launches on the 13th September in Beijing, China and has 10 rounds, including Los Angeles, Miami and Monte Carlo, all on street circuits. The season finale is on June 27th 2015 in London.

Season News 2014 16th March Melbourne, Australia The ‘new era’ of F1 have been the buzzwords in the run up to this season and the opening round in Australia didn’t disappoint; with some top driver DNFs, crashes, great overtaking and a sting in the tale that hit Red Bull. After a false start, most of the cars made it off the line. Pole-sitter Lewis Hamilton was overtaken by teammate Nico Rosburg and new Red Bull driver Daniel Ricciardo off the line. The first corner saw Kamui Kobayashi’s rear brakes fail and he hit the rear of Kimi Raikkonen before taking out William’s Felipe Massa. Lewis Hamilton had power issues and had to retire, along with Sebastian Vettel who was continually on his radio asking why he had no power. So the race favourite (after pre-season testing) and current world champion were out, it was down to their teammates. That’s just what was happening as

Pedictably and essentially, the theme park has 'Formula Rossa', the world's fastest roller coaster which reaches a top speed of 240km/h (149 mph). I'll never be an F1 driver, but I can pretend to be Fernando Alonso or Kimi Räikkönen, I just need to get to Abu Dhabi... Well, my dreams have been realised since Ferrari has announced that it will build a new theme park and hotel here in Spain! Due to be opened in 2016, the new park, 'Ferrari Land' will cover 18 acres and include a luxury �ive-star Ferrarithemed hotel, restaurants and a driving simulator.
A new rollercoaster will also be built, which Ferrari claims will become Europe's highest and fastest vertical accelerator. I, for one, will stand in a long queue to get on the front seat of that. The site chosen is the PortAventura resort, which is close to fashionable Barcelona and already houses Spain's top amusement park PortAventura (attracting 4 million visitors a year) and ranked second in Europe. The entire park is expected to cost around 100 million euros to develop and due to open in just two years, now I’m not a sceptic, but I have been waiting for the Disney Park here in Spain and I won’t mention the new empty airport... Let’s hope it does come off, it’ll be a great new attraction for Spain, the computer generated images from Ferrari (above) look spectacular.

140 cars were counted with parking at a premium, making another fantastic record. Has any body calculated how much money is lined up at any one time? This makes the Ace possibly the biggest classic car show in Spain, and IT`S ALL FREE compliments of the Phoenix Car Club. 23rd March Qatar, Losail In an action packed season opener, it was Marc Marquez who held his nerve and took the victory. The young champion performed brilliantly despite missing the last two test sessions due to breaking his leg in February. He had great battle with Valentino Rossi,with some great overtaking moves from both riders, which went right down to the last lap, with Marquesa winning by 0.25 seconds. Dani Pedrosa finished in third with another Spaniard in fourth, Aleix Espargaro. Jorge Lorenzo had issues with grip in qualifying and crashed out of the race while in the lead on the first lap.

Now, still with me? Zombies are dead (no really it's true!). That is their hearts have ceased to function and thus no blood circulates in order to keep all their organs working correctly etc and as a result they fail; turn into zombies and try to kill you! HOLD ON. DON'T STOP READING, THIS IS ABOUT MOTORCYCLES. HONEST!! Your motorcycle has a heart. It is the throbbing, beating engine of your machine. Unlike the "engine" in our bodies, it doesn't use blood. It requires oil. Yes oil is the "blood" of our motorcycles! Now this may (apparently!) come as a shock to some of you, but oil is not self perpetuating. Someone has to physically put oil into our engines. Sometimes these people are called "mechanics". These mechanics are only of secondary importance however where oil is concerned. The onus of PUTTING OIL INTO OUR ENGINES falls to US the OWNERS! Harley manuals state that oil levels should be checked "...at each complete fuel refill." That's every time you fill your tank folks! Ok maybe this is a bit much, I personally check mine every 2nd/3rd fill up. It takes between 2/4 minutes depending whether it needs "topping up" or not. I am not a mechanic but I have seen the affect a damaged engine, suddenly seizing up can have on both a moving motorcycle and it's rider! Messy is an adjective that springs to mind! Sometimes an engine can "seize" so quickly there isn't time to pull in the clutch lever and thus avoid superman impressions flying down the road!! So, if you don't want
your motorcycle to "go zombie" and attempt to kill you; PUT OIL IN IT!!!!!! At the very least it will save you money and it may save you more than cash! 2/4 minutes folks! Skin grafts take MONTHS painful months! It also means that you will not have to suffer the embarrasment of having a mechanic telling you in a tone mothers usually reserve for stupid children: "THERE SHOULD BE OIL INSIDE IT!!!!!" whilst the rest of the workshop staff giggle and laugh at you! NO NAMES, that would be cruel (or would it?) YOU KNOW WHO YOU ARE SO ONCE MORE WITH FEELING: PUT SOME OIL IN IT!!! Remember, road safety starts BEFORE we get on the road (don't even get me started about tyre pressures!!) Stay safe everyone, El Guiri
