WHAT MAKES US DIFFERENT Student Mentor System Our student mentor system sets us apart from other institutions, and ensures a student-centred learning experience. The student mentor system means you’ll have the opportunity to: ask questions, explore and truly understand what you’ve set out to learn.

It is IBaT policy to nominate a student mentor across all full-time programmes at the beginning of each academic year. The student mentor is a visible and active link between IBaT and the student body. The student mentor: • Listens to the concerns and questions of the student. • Serves as the sounding board for ideas/concerns. • Communicates with students and ensure they are aware of IBaT resources and services. • Provides assistance, support, and guidance to students. • Assists students with the student appeals process

Our Teaching Methods Our programmes are designed to prepare individuals for employment and further education. The broad range of business and technology subjects available provides comprehensive exposure to the core areas of business and management. Learning is something that happens both individually and between you and your fellow participants. It is the way that you take in the theories, models, cases and other information that you are confronted with, how you reflect upon them and how you apply them in your daily work life as well as in your personal life.

At IBaT the focus of our teaching method is on creating learning together with our participants and staff. This is achieved through dialogue based and interactive lectures and discussions. We believe that competencies are not developed through a one-way communication, but rather through a discussion of theories and the participants’ experiences.

WELCOME TO IRELAND Studying in Ireland Ireland is an ideal destination for international students. Our location is a great place to live and work – right at the heart of North Dublin, the capital of Ireland. Dublin has history stretching back over 1000 years but it is more recently known as the centre of the worlds’s most consistently successful economy. IBaT is based in North Dublin (Swords) which is one of the fastest growing areas in Ireland. North Dublin boasts the youngest population in ireland with a busy social and sporting background and a strong ethnic mix. We are located in a town which combines its medieval origins with its present-day status of a modern, dynamic centre on the fringe of Dublin, close to the Irish and European headquarters of many multi-national high technology industries. On top of that, we are based beside Dublin airport, the epi-centre of much of the import and export activity that drives our economy.

Economy Ireland is a modern open economy, which was called the Celtic Tiger after economic growth averaged 10% between 1995-2000. The Irish economic model is seen by many countries as a benchmark to follow for its intelligent education, taxation and industrial policies. Ireland is a global hub for business in constant demand for talented people to drive future growth. The iIrish economy is still one of the highest growing economies in the EU. Unemployment is very low with employment creation particularly strong.

Culture Ireland is a beautiful scenic country, which boasts many famous areas such as the Ring of Kerry, the Burren, the Giants Causeway, and world renowned antiquities such as Newgrange.

Ireland has become multi-cultural with all religions and faiths represented in some way. Ireland as a society is very open to new traditions and cultures. You can also be sure that a place of worship will be easily accessible in Dublin city centre for most major religions.

Standard of Education Modern Ireland offers a wide spectrum of educational choice. The standard of education in Ireland is particularly strong and is among the best in the OECD. Higher education awards in Ireland are conferred by the Higher Education and Training Awards Council (HETAC). IBaT received HETAC accreditation in 2006 for its Higher Certificate in Business. All our courses in this prospectus are on the Irish Department of Education’s Internationalisation Register of Programmes. The number of students in third-level education has grown from 18,500 in 1965 to more than 100,000 at present. Presently, nearly half of young people advance to third-level, with around half of these taking degreelevel programmes.

Opportunities There are attractive employment opportunities in Ireland by working for multi-national companies or Irish-owned businesses in a diverse range of sectors. Over 1000 overseas companies have chosen to invest in Ireland as their European base. Ireland also has strong economic ties with the EU, Middle East, Africa, North America and Asia. Irish job growth continues to be exceptional and remains about 2 ½ times faster than employment gains in the US and nearly 5 times faster than in the UK.
