He is, however, a self-confessed “very picky person” and it took three attempts to get the floor exactly right. He wanted an industrial look to match the ceiling style so it couldn’t be too shiny and there is a visible paint swish. “It’s made of concrete with an Italian type of texture on top, which doesn’t scratch and cleans really well,” he says.

Hygiene is an utmost priority for any eatery and cockroaches are a problem in Bermuda. To combat that, Fadda ensured they simply couldn’t get in by sealing everything with silicone including around the sinks and beneath the counters. “We have left no spaces for them to hide,” he says.

Like the inside, the entrance is minimalist with huge, flat, entry ways and a subtle, black and white name sign on the right-hand side. When looking at the empty space, Fadda knew he wanted his restaurant to match the shops he had just walked past. “One is Atelerie and one is Polished, so I thought ‘let’s do something really modern that pops and goes with the two modern shops next to it.’”

And that’s exactly what he did.
