THE STORY

Fuji’s entry into the growing aero road market, the Transonic is the latest evolution of three years in the wind tunnel that first yielded the greatest track bike in the world: the Track Elite; second, the Tri/ TT, fit-comes-first machine with 11 pro victories in its first season: the Norcom Straight; and now, the Transonic: the epitome of all knowledge gained and lessons learned harnessed into an aero road offering designed to save time without compromising stiffness or ride quality. While the ultra-lightweight Altamira shines on brutal gradients and the super-stiff SST in bunch sprints, the aerodynamic Transonic thrives in all circumstances – but is especially in its element on flat or rolling terrain with heavy crosswinds.

VALIDATION

Fuji-sponsored pro team NetApp Endura was heavily involved in the development process, providing extensive ride testing feedback. They will debut the Transonic at one of the biggest sporting events in the world and the greatest event in all of cycling: the Tour de France. Five of the team’s nine riders - the domestiques and sprinters - will race on the Transonic while the four climbers will be on the Altamira.

FEATURES AND BENEFITS

• 1 series frames are constructed of Fuji’s ultra high-modulus C10 carbon, and the 2 series frames: Fuji’s C5 high-modulus carbon; both are lightweight, highstrength, and oriented in a layup structure that maximizes stiffness. • Designed with wider crosssectional tubes than a traditional aero road bike to achieve optimum stiffness. • Tapered head tube and fork are aerodynamically contoured to provide smooth, uninterrupted airflow over the front brake and across the downtube. • Proprietary aero seat post with an integrated seat clamp system for cleaner airflow, plus a roughened surface on the front of the seat post to ensure the post doesn’t slip. • Direct-mount front and rear brakes remove the excess material of a carrier plate – allowing for better frame integration and improved aerodynamics; the Transonic’s fork is also contoured to match the shape of the front brake, further optimizing aerodynamics. • Fuji is one of the first in the industry to position a direct-mount brake on the seatstays instead of under the chainstay, where it is extremely challenging to service; Fuji also chose to position its dual-pivot brake in front of the fork for easier maintenance than

an integrated system; and while there are aerodynamic advantages to placing the brakes behind the fork like with the Norcom Straight, the linear pull brakes required in this position don’t retract far enough away from the rim and can cause rubbing issues on a road bike. • Asymmetrical, oversized Energy Transfer Chainstays (ETC) offset drivetrain-induced torque by maintaining lateral stiffness, displacing power more evenly through the frame, and yet still delivering greater vibrationdampening properties – all of which aids in improved pedaling efficiency. • Integrated chain watcher ensures smooth shifts without the risk of dropping the chain to the inside. • Fully internal cable routing for mechanical and Di2 systems – including an internal Di2 battery integrated into the seat post – that not only improves aerodynamics but protects the cables for consistent shifting even in inclement conditions. • Designed with the future in mind, the frame accommodates all the newest wide-rim profile wheel systems. • Very wide range of sizes: 7 total, from the 61cm all the way down to the 46 cm for one of the widest size ranges in the industry.

THE STORY

The Altamira was named after Cantabria, Spain’s prehistoric 35,000-yearold Altamira caves filled with Paleolithic drawings – especially Bison. Upon discovery, the caves were deemed the earliest example of human development and creative expression. With Fuji’s new racing platform marking a monumental milestone in the development of Fuji carbon road bikes, Fuji decided that “Altamira” was the perfect name and perfect way to pay tribute to the Cantabrian-based team they partnered with for three years to help design it – originally Fuji-Servetto, then Footon-Servetto, then Geox TMC. And so the Fuji Altamira was born. And a year after it was launched, in September 2011 at the Vuelta a España, the Altamira won its first grand tour – by a Cantabrian rider known as “The Bison” no less: Geox-TMC’s Juan Jose Cobo.

VALIDATION

In its three years on the pro circuit, the Altamira has earned 18 victories – including a grand tour title, two Vuelta stage wins, a Tour of California stage win, and a Czech National Road Championship title. Renown for its ability to float uphill, many of its victories have come on queen stage summit finishes, such as the Vuelta’s infamous Angliru and Peñas Blancas, the Giro del Trentino’s Fai della Paganella, and the Tour of California’s Mt. Diablo. The Altamira is currently being raced professionally by Team NetApp-Endura.

• SL and 1 series frames are constructed of Fuji’s top-of-the-line C15 carbon, which utilizes High Compaction (HC) molding: a series of internal molds that eliminate wrinkles and excess resin buildup in high-stress, complex radius bend areas (i.e. the head tube and bottom bracket junctions) for greater compaction in the carbon layers; the payoff is a lighter, stiffer, more durable frame with an interior as finished as the exterior and a more resilient, lively ride quality; HC, introduced in 2013, has enabled Fuji to significantly reduce frame weight – at just 820 grams, the Altamira SL is currently the lightest bike Fuji has ever produced. • 2 series frames are constructed of Fuji’s C5 high-modulus carbon that is both high-strength and lightweight. • Tapered head tube and fork enhance steering precision. • Oversized downtube and chainstays increase torsional stiffness for superior pedaling efficiency. • Press-Fit BB86 bottom bracket positions the bearings further apart, increasing overall stiffness, reducing flex, and maximizing power transfer. • Super-thin seatstays reduce weight and increase ride comfort through controlled flex over rougher terrain; the stays absorb the maximum amount of road vibration and supply greater compliance for long days in the saddle – perfect for stage racers.

THE STORY

A sponsor of the first U.S. Women’s National Cycling Team in 1974 – 10 years before women’s cycling became an Olympic sport – Fuji has a long history of supporting elite and amateur women racers across all disciplines. First introduced to the lineup in 2007, the latest generation Supreme was developed with the input of Fuji’s pro women racers of the past half decade – the likes of which include 2-time World Road Champion Giorgia Bronzini, Giro Donne Winner Mara Abbott, and 2-time U.S. Crit National Champion Shelley Olds. The Supreme was designed to incorporate the best materials and design technologies of the top-of-the-line Altamira and SST into a women’s-specific package that would combine superior handling, comfort, and stiffness with optimum fit. Like the SST, the Supreme benefits from the exceptional stiffness of RIB technology, which makes it a particularly powerful bike for sprinters and criterium racers.

VALIDATION

In 2013 alone, the Supreme earned more than 10 professional victories, including the USA Crit Finals, multiple stage wins and the overall GC victory at the Tour of Elk Grove and Nature Valley Gran Prix, and the Irish, Mexican, and Lithuanian National Road Championship titles. The Supreme is currently being raced professionally by Team TIBCO.

• 1 series frames are constructed of Fuji’s ultra high-modulus C10 carbon, and the 2 series frames: Fuji’s C5 high-modulus carbon; both are lightweight, high-strength, and feature layup schedules tailored specifically to a woman’s traditionally lighter body mass. • Utilizes women’s-specific geometry designed to cater to the inherent anatomical differences between men and women – the hallmarks of which are a shorter top tube, narrower handlebars, and short-reach brake levers that provide greater comfort and thus confidence. • A reinforcing rib (a patented technology from Fuji’s carbon manufacturer called Reinforced I-Beam or RIB technology) runs the length of the oversized downtube and fork blades, amplifying stiffness in the fork for razor-sharp steering precision and in the downtube for exceptional power transfer – without a significant weight penalty. • Tapered head tube and fork enhance steering precision. • Press-Fit BB86 bottom bracket positions the bearings further apart, increasing overall stiffness, reducing flex, and maximizing power transfer. • Asymmetrical, oversized Energy Transfer Chainstays (ETC) offset drivetrain-induced torque by maintaining lateral stiffness, displacing power more evenly through the frame, and yet still delivering greater vibrationdampening properties – all of which aids in improved pedaling efficiency.

THE STORY

Designed with race geometry, many of the features of Fuji’s top-of-the-line Altamira and SST, and yet only marginally heavier than its carbon siblings, the Roubaix is a high-performance, high-value road bike without the carbon price – boasting a redesigned, very lightweight frame. First introduced to the lineup more than two decades ago, the Roubaix is Fuji’s longestrunning and best-selling road race bike.

THE STORY

What sets the Gran Fondo apart from competition carbon road bikes like the Transonic, Altamira, and SST is its taller head tube and longer wheel base. However, apart from these two exceptions, the Gran Fondo features race geometry. It was designed to cater to the rider in need of a more comfortable platform for logging serious miles, but make no mistake: it’s a very capable racing frame – agile and stiff – benefiting from the top-level technology of Fuji’s carbon race bikes yet integrated into a more stable, compliant, and comfortable machine.

THE STORY

Introduced in 2013 and revamped in 2014 to feature disc brakes – Fuji’s first foray into the road disc world – the Sportif was designed for versatility at a great value: the perfect option for the entry-level rider looking to get their feet wet in road riding and who may even see racing in their future, while equally ideal for the veteran rider struggling with back problems, looking to log more miles, or who would prefer to ditch their car and instead bike their daily commute.

THE STORY

Fuji has been producing premium bikes for women since the early 1970s. However, it was in 2006 that the brand first introduced a line of women’sspecific performance bikes with the aluminum Fuji Finest. A year later, Fuji released its first generation, carbon, women’s-specific Supreme. Featuring less race-oriented geometry than its carbon sibling, the Finest is a women’s-specific road bike at an accessible price point incorporating some of the design and technology features of Fuji’s top-of-the-line models into a fitness-minded, smooth riding, perfectly-fitted road bike.

THE STORY

Three years in the making, the Norcom Straight was launched in May 2013 under the mantra: Fit Comes First. The pinnacle of Fuji innovation, design, and engineering, the Norcom Straight was developed in the A2 Wind Tunnel to be one of the fastest bikes in the world. But more importantly, it was designed to offer more positioning options than any other superbike on the market; Fuji believes that the more adjustability available, the more easily a rider is able to dial-in their best, most aerodynamic position – one that doesn’t constrict their lungs or compromise their hip flexors, allows them to find their optimal level of comfort, and therefore increases their efficiency and speed. Fuji also set out to improve on its previous TT/Tri model, the D-6. Wind tunnel results revealed a 16% aerodynamic improvement across the yaw angle sweep over the D-6, as well as 26% stiffer bottom bracket. Another significant objective was for the Norcom to be mechanic-friendly. With much cleaner brake routing than the D-6 and the addition of a vertical dropout, riders and mechanics don’t need to pull the entire bike apart or consult a manual to make adjustments – making it easier than nearly all TT/ Tri bikes on the market for travel, box-up, and assembly/disassembly.

VALIDATION

In its three years on the pro circuit, the Altamira has earned 18 victories – In its first season on the pro cycling and triathlon circuits, the Norcom Straight has already earned 11 victories, including the Czech National Time Trial title and the 2013 Life Time Tri Series title. Introduced to the lineup in 2011 alongside the Altamira, the Altamira CX was designed to incorporate the features of Fuji’s brand-new, top-of-the line, ultra-lightweight carbon road bike into a high-performance machine built for the demands of cross racing – a sport that continues to grow across the globe.

Fuji began its quest to produce the fastest cross country hardtail on the market with the introduction of the SLM in 2009 and saw early success when Fuji-sponsored athlete Annika Langvad won back-to-back Marathon World Championships aboard the SLM in 2010 and 2011. In 2014, the SLM was completely redesigned to be even lighter and better-handling, with its geometry revamped to emphasize speed and power above all: a short wheelbase with exceptionally short chainstays to slice through tight singletrack, paired with a long and low top tube and short head tube for an aggressive rider position.

• 1 series SLM frames are constructed of Fuji’s top-of-the-line c15 carbon, with a new carbon lay up introduced last year that shaved off nearly 300 grams for an ultralow frame weight: less than 1000 grams (size medium).

• Uniquely shaped, oversized downtube amplifies torsional stiffness and maximizes power transfer. • High-end 100mm-travel fork with tunable compression and rebound damping allows riders to dial in the perfect feel, plus remote lockout allows for quick switches in changing terrain. • 1 series models use Oval Concepts M600 series aluminum cranks with a 35mm spindle – the largest diameter BB spindle in the industry – that offers the optimum combination of light weight and stiffness to make every pedal rotation count; the crank also features Praxis Works aluminum, cold-forged chainrings that offer more shifting options and are lighter and stronger than CNC’d chainrings.

The Lea is designed to be accessible, comfortable, and confidence-inspiring – in price, geometry, spec, and fit – for the casual female rider and aspiring mountain biker. Formerly known as the Addy Sport, the Lea gets a rear U-brake in 2015 for improved aesthetics.

• Step-through frame allows for riders to mount and dismount easily, boosting confidence. • Utilizes women’s-specific geometry designed to cater to the inherent anatomical differences between men and women – the hallmarks of which are a shorter top tube, narrower handlebars, and short-reach brake levers for increased comfort and thus confidence. • Slightly taller head tube puts the rider in a more upright position for enhanced comfort. • Suspension fork with100m of travel smooths out the bumps; 1.1 comes equipped with a lockout for quick switches in changing terrain. • Shimano 24-speed and 21-speed drivetrains provide reliable, smooth shifting with a wide gearing range to climb hills or go fast on flats. • Linear-pull brake in the front and U-brake in the rear allows for straighter cable routing for a cleaner look.

THE STORY

Introduced to the lineup more than three decades ago, the Absolute is far and away one of Fuji’s most popular and best-selling models for its versatility. Especially prevalent among city dwellers who can use it for trips to the grocery store, commutes to work, and long weekend trail rides, its geometry strikes the perfect balance between speed and comfort – not too racy, not too casual. It’s also ideal for the fitnessminded rider not yet ready to make the jump to a full-blown road bike or who would prefer to be in a more upright position to ease any lower back fatigue. The Absolute 1 series frame was redesigned in 2014 to feature a sleek, sculpted top tube with increased standover clearance. For 2015, the 2 series frame gets the same top tube redesign.

FEATURES AND BENEFITS

• Constructed of double-butted A2-SL aluminum that is both strong and lightweight. • Carbon-bladed fork on the 1.3 model saves weight and supplies a smoother, more forgiving ride. • Flat or low rise handlebar vs. traditional drop bar allows for a more upright, comfortable, less aggressive riding position. • Wide gearing range enables riders to tackle climbs and flats. • Disc brakes on the 1.3 model provide superior stopping power in all weather conditions.

• 25mm-32mm tyres are fast yet also forgiving; the majority of models feature an anti-puncture layer in the casing of the tyre. • Spec’d with a wider saddle to support a more upright, comfortable rider position. • Rack and fender mounts add carrying capacity and all-weather utility. • Available in six sizes, in both stepover and step-through frames, to fit a variety of riders.

• Internal cable routing on 1 series models provides a sleek look and protects cables from dirt and debris for consistent shifting – even in inclement conditions.
