Component 2 Change and stability Ibrahim Ahmed

Design Brief & Specifications Every community requires a central attraction that brings them toget her. It ’s vit al for the stability of every neighborhood for its harmony. One of the most common and best ways of bringing people together is sport. Sports were created to bring people together to work together and have friendly competition regardless of race, culture, societies or any differences. In Chadwell Heath, residents have always had concerns of lack of local sports grounds and community facilities. If anything those t hat are around are all in different surrounding areas but nothing in one place. My task is to create a leisure center in Chadwell Heath that is designed in a way that it can bring the local community toget her in different ways and provide sports and fitness facilities to locals all in one place. Along with the potential facilities there is large emphasis on the aesthetic pleasure to the eye that the structure would have in order to attract more people and t o st and out in a rather simple neighborhood.

The location I have chosen is Chadwell Heath’s St Chad’s Park. It’s the largest open space in the area and is localized centrally which makes it easily accessible for all. It is also not used by many therefore it is expendable as I would only be using a portion of the field. It’s also accessible to visitors from surrounding areas as it is close to the High Rd with any bus stops as well as Chadwell Heath train station. This would invite tourists to visit the area to view the structure which is very important because Chadwell Heath isn’t really known for any tourist attractions. Consequently, this would increase local revenue. In the end this should connect the whole Chadwell Heath area as well as residents of surrounding areas. Bringing societies together and bringing some light to a rather quiet Chadwell Heath.

On the south west end is the only playground in the park. The park isn't used as often as it should be as it doesn't ’t consist of many activities. Only during the summer season would you see it full. But on account of its mediocre facilities it usually consequences in the vast majority of children being unable to use anything Another issue brought up by the local community is the misuse of spaces within the playground especially. The playground is fenced off from the open grass but much of the space inside is just open and has no use. With a lack of activities this frustrates visitors and locals.

Local to the east entrance is the small, outdoor adidas gym alongside a mini basketball area and a single football goal. Beside this area is mediocre multi-sport court. Due to mediocrity it is rarely used for sport.

Further down south is a tennis court which is the most used area of the sports facilities in the park. It consists of two cages with two courts in each making up four courts. More often than not these are far more occupied t han t he ot her areas.
