The 2017 Employee Engagement will be open Monday, May 15 to Friday, June 9. Please plan now to take the survey. RMC’s goal is 100% employee participation and a 75% employee engagement score. See pg. 5 to review our accomplishments based on feedback from the 2016 survey, they are incredible! I’m thrilled to see how living our mission is making a difference in the lives of patients and families every day. Here’s a message we received recently: “Since being diagnosed with Stage IIIB pancreatic cancer June 2015, I have spent a LOT of time at Research. The doctors, nurses and staff have all been incredibly compassionate and supportive. Jaswinder Singh MD (oncologist), Joe Cates MD (surgeon), James Malezewski MD (internist), Thomas Sweeney MD (interventional radiology), the countless nurses including Cindy at the infusion clinic, the NPs at Sarah Cannon, Erin in outpatient surgery admitting all worked together to rip me from the jaws of death. So many dedicated professionals! They provided outstanding communication throughout the whole ordeal! Happy to say I’m now cancer free and moving on to survivorship thanks to them and the world class care they gave me <3.” Please take a moment to thank each other for the teamwork and commitment of our entire organization!

Sincerely, facebook.com/researchmedicalcenter

8 Deliver Exceptional Care

DAISY Award Honorees December: Keith Trammell, RN - ICU “My husband was riding his motorcycle and was hit by a truck. Keith was so kind and compassionate yet informative. I felt so much comfort knowing he was my husband’s nurse.”

January: Monica Carter, RN - Labor & Delivery “I was a homebirth transfer and not a fan of hospitals. Transferring to a hospital was upsetting to me, but I was trusting that my midwives knew best. The first thing Monica did was ask me why I did not like hospitals and what could she do to make it different this time. She was so gentle and loving. Monica was respectful and loving to not only me, but also my husband and my midwives-turned doula’s. My daughter was born the day before my birthday. On the evening of my daughter’s birth, Monica brought me birthday cake. She said it would be my birthday when her shift ended, so it was already my birthday in her eyes. That kind of attention and care is something special.”

They are treating him so good! I am so grateful for them, God Bless all of you! From the ER to the third floor, you guys are amazing.” “Awesome place to be when you need it. Discussing distracted driving with teens RoadWise is a FREE program for young drivers 14-19, emphasizing the importance of wearing a seat belt, making good decisions behind the wheel and not driving distracted. Participants follow the path they would take at a trauma center after being seriously injured in a car crash by visiting the Emergency Room, Radiology, Intensive Care and Physical Therapy. Lunch is spent with young people who have sustained a permanent brain or spinal cord injury as a result of a motor-vehicle crash. The Missouri State Highway Patrol also visits to talk about working crash sites and the daunting task of making death notifications to families.

All healthcare services received at this facility and these offices will be processed as out-of-network, which will result in higher costs to Well Care medical plan participants. What should you do? If you are an HCA Well Care medical plan participant, it is very important that you verify your physician is still participating in the HMCC/Aetna network by calling Aetna at (800) 222-9215. You can also access the provider directory by logging on to HCArewards.com, clicking on Benefits Providers and choosing the HMCC/PHO directory link. If you have questions about the network and participating physicians, call HMCC at (816) 823-0750.
