CATALAN ARTS! – CATALAN ARTS BOOKS!
Catalan Arts is the brand used for the international promotion of Catalan companies that operate in the music, performing arts, books, visual arts and digital culture sectors. To this end, the brand strengthens the presence of Catalan companies and creative works at international fairs and key professional events. Catalan Arts also offers all kind of useful materials and resources to professionals based in Catalonia seeking to develop their projects internationally, as well as to professionals from other countries looking for artistic productions and willing to establish contact with their creators and promoters. Hosted by the Catalan Institute for Cultural Companies (ICEC), Catalan Arts identifies the activities carried out by ICEC’s Market Development Department following the internationalization strategy implemented by the Government of Catalonia’s Ministry of Culture. With the goal of facilitating access to national and international markets, the Market Development Department offers Cultural companies the necessary infrastructure, resources and experience to create favourable conditions for a successful internationalization: It develops strategies and activities in support of cultural companies in coordination with the entities and associations that represent the industry. It provides support for Catalan cultural and creative companies’ internationalization projects, with subsidy lines. These include travel expenses for market research and those related to participation at international fairs (rental of stands, accreditations and some others), shipment of samples of books and catalogs to international fairs, production of commercial promotional material, promotional actions on social networks. It coordinates the presence of Catalan companies at international fairs and professional events and promotes their creative works internationally.
Concerning the book sector, Catalan Arts Books attends with an institutional stand the London Book Fair, Bologna Children’s Book Fair, Frankfurt Buchmesse and Feria Internacional del Libro de Guadalajara.
It publishes catalogues, directories, newsletters and other international promotion tools. It also publishes market surveys, reports on fairs, and studies that are useful for Catalan professionals. It offers counselling, tools, resources and specific training to facilitate access to international markets.
It provides support to other professional events in Catalonia that showcase artistic creation in Catalonia. It works from the ICEC offices in Barcelona, Berlin, Brussels, London and Paris to liaise between Catalan companies and international professionals who are looking for artistic productions. These offices also prospect new markets and issue reports and studies that are useful for Catalan professionals.
