I KNEW THAT BEING A FASHION DESIGNER WAS MY CALLING WHEN… I was young; I have had a little design worm in me since a young age. I loved playing with clothes, styling and fashion, having chosen a career path in styling and design throughout my life. Then one day, a few things fell into place and I took a big jump to start my own fashion brand!

MY AVERAGE WORKING DAY IS… Long! Exciting! I work a minimum 12 hour day, most often closer to 16/18 hours and I usually have to force myself to stop – too many ideas and a rather large production studio keep me on my toes! A lot of time goes toward admin, clients and managing my team,

alter necks are back in a big way this season, giving us a beautiful alternative to the strapless, V-neck, one shoulder or off the shoulder options. The classic halter neckline burst back into trend after the Duchess of Sussex wore a stunning halter neck style dress for her reception. Halter necklines are well known to be a flattering cut for those who like to showcase a feminine figure with a more open back, and shoulders and arms on show. This neckline suits many styles from casual bohemian to elegant evening.

Will You Be My Bridesmaid?
Your partner may have gone all out to propose to you, but now it’s your turn, with bridesmaid proposals becoming the new thing to do! While we don’t suggest you get down on one knee, make the most of the privilege you get of asking your best girls to be by your side as you walk down the aisle. To show your besties how much they mean to you the key is creativity. Gone are the days where you would throw it into conversation over a coffee catch up or simply call them to ask the question. To give you some inspiration here are CONFETI’s top ten ways to ask, “Will you be my bridesmaid?”

Reem Acra R
eem Acra’s Spring 2020 bridal show took place in St. Bartholomew’s Church, an official New York City landmark on Park Avenue. The show kicked off with a ceremonial performance (to the tune of Madonna’s “Papa Don’t Preach”) by six Lilliputian flower girls walking down the aisle in adorable baby-pink dresses. Acra’s megawatt gowns made their way down the aisle next with gem-encrusted princess dresses, slinky body-hugging gowns, mini dresses, and plenty of the intricate, couture-like embroidery Acra is known for.

Aisle Style
“Fashion is for us to have fun.” - Reem Acra A particular standout was Acra’s take on the veil: One model displayed a bejeweled crown with a teased veil sprouting from the top for a bit of artistic flare. Another wore a Pepto-pink veil fastened around her face with a tuft puffing out at the top. There were model grooms, too. (Their suits were made in collaboration with Joseph Abboud.) One young man wore a shirt drenched in large pearls, and many others had the glitz and the glam typically reserved for brides – a charming touch. The epic finale saw singers in the audience stand up and break out into Madonna’s ‘Like a Prayer’. Described by Vogue’s Emily Farra “Acra is making bridal fun. In other words: Take me to church.” CONFETI 29
Grooming Want the wedding day hairstyle of your dreams? Reflections very own Paul MacFarlane, who specialises in bespoke bridal hairdressing, shares his W-Day wisdom with you.
GIVE IT TIME
First up, lets tackle the hair issue. If you are not happy with your current stylist, then finding a new one straight after your engagement should be your priority. This gives them enough time to create a battle plan so that your hair can reach its fullest potential. There are things a good stylist can do with the right amount of time, (meaning months of growth) to allow your hair to be shaped properly. You would be surprised with what can be done in the hands of someone who thinks about what could be, instead of what is. Choose a stylist who not only gives you the best shape and flow but also educates you on how to style it on your own.
KEEP IT SIMPLE
There isn’t a set-in stone hairstyle for grooms, but I would recommend going for something classic, think short and tidy. A short, back and sides will ALWAYS look good with a suit. This style isn’t going to date and will remain looking timeless. You don’t want to look back at your wedding photos and have a style that was too modern or too trendy at the time. If your style is tousled and textured, stick with that. Plenty of male celebrities choose the messy look for the red carpet

EMBRACE WHO YOU ARE
MORE THAN SKIN DEEP
I would highly recommend in the months leading up to the wedding booking in a course of facials to get your skin in the best possible condition. Also think about investing in good quality skincare products. The skincare industry for men is booming, gone are the days where you just slathered a tub of Nivea cold cream over your face. Well that’s if you bothered to moisturise at all. Men are now taking a lot more pride in their appearance and all the top brands have sat up and noticed. If you don’t know your hyaluronic acids from your retinols, then ask your facialist to recommend suitable products for your skin type. Other must have treatments are manicures. Schedule in a few before the big day. Remember the wedding photographer is always going to take a close up shot of the rings exchange, so you want your hands looking picture perfect. I wouldn’t usually recommend eyebrow waxing on men, because I think it creates too defined of a shape. If you are currently rocking a monobrow then ask your barber or hairstylist to use clippers to lightly trim them.
THE BIG DAY
Your hair should be freshly cut either the morning of, (which saves you having to style it yourself,) or the day before. Why not get together with your guys on the morning of the wedding and go for a hot towel shave? A straight razor gives the cleanest shave. While you are there why not all enjoy a manicure, The skincare industry for facial or massage and men is booming, gone are spend the whole morning getting ready as a group. the days where you just Remember it’s not just slathered a tub of Nivea bride’s day, it’s the cold cream over your face. the grooms as well.

As we walked towards the sea, I was holding on to him and walking with precaution as it was dark with only the moonlight to guide us, and the deck that led to the rocks above the shore had large enough gaps for my stilettos to become wedged in! When we arrived at the beach, the moonlight hit the waves that were rolling onto the sand - we just stood there in awe of the scenery. We held each other tight and reminisced about the amazing times we had been through together over all the years we had known each other. He then suddenly said, ‘Can you see that?’ I turned around to see what he was pointing at, and as I looked down, a light shone on to the rocks where there was a sign that read, ‘Marry Me?’. I then turned back around to see that Bhavesh had got down on one knee! He told me that he wanted to spend the rest of his life and more with me

We went back to our table where we finished off our champagne, when Bhavesh told me he had another surprise for me! What could possibly be better than this? We were on a tiny island off the south coast of Cuba and on our last night on the island (we were due to fly to Varadero the next day to continue our holiday), Bhavesh had booked us a table at a restaurant. When we arrived, I was surprised to see that he had arranged for us to dine in a private cabana that was beautifully decorated with candles, flowers and white curtains that were softly blowing in the breeze. During our meal, we were serenaded with beautiful Spanish love songs. At this point he told me that he did this for me

ALL I EVER WANTED AND MORE…
The wedding planning begun almost immediately after we had returned back to the UK. I had always dreamt of an outdoors wedding, with beautiful scenery and romance. I already knew that this would be the theme throughout. We decided to marry in Spain as we both travelled there often. Spain has always been a destination close to home and close to my heart... the ambience, the people, the laidback attitude, the weather and climate.... we had to get married in Spain!

All were outdoors, the weather was amazing and all this infused with the surroundings and the ‘buzz’ our guests came with made it truly the best wedding, I myself, had ever been to, and I still can’t believe that it was my own. I knew I wanted a traditional Hindu wedding with a twist of vintage and regal attire. Dianna from Party People and the team at Beau Rivaaaj ensured that the setting was just that and the planning was impeccable. The mandap was decorated with beautiful fabrics and hanging ornaments. It looked exquisite with traditional but subtle colours. The large pillars surrounding the amphitheatre were draped with beautiful images of Lord Ganesh. For the blessing ceremony, Dianna had stripped away the colours and left a beautiful plain white chuppah that was complemented by the surroundings of the Roman Stone amphitheatre. The ivory and soft pink flowers paired with our outfits made a perfect combination against the sunlight and the greenery.

Affair
An International It started as a holiday romance… I’m Australian and was living in Tel Aviv, Daniel is Scottish and was based in London. We met in Tel Aviv while Daniel was there on holiday. We were introduced by two mutual friends who quite literally sat on me, until I agreed to go and meet him for a drink. Daniel and I had our second date in Paris and then our third date in London. I moved to London a couple of months after we met, and the rest is history! White lies are allowed… Daniel is a teacher and told me he was going on a school ski trip. Two days after he “left” for the trip I came home after work (which was also Valentine’s Day) and found our apartment filled with hundreds of white roses and candles, with Daniel on bended 46 CONFETI
knee in the middle of the room! Turns out, there was no ski trip and he had been hiding at his mum’s house for two days to make it believable that he was away. He wanted to propose to me when I wasn’t at all expecting him to, and boy did he succeed! It was the most magical and surprising proposal. In search of sunshine… As an Australian, I always wanted to get married outside in the sunshine. Since Australia was a little too far to ask the majority of our guests to travel to, we opted instead for some sunshine a little closer to home. Daniel also spent his childhood holidays in Marbella, so it’s a place he has a lot of wonderful memories. Daniel and I both wanted our wedding to be a big outdoor party, under the sunshine and the stars. We looked

at several different places, but as soon as we saw our venue, we knew it was perfect. We got married on a beautiful property called El Molino Del Duque, located just outside of Marbella. The main house is surrounded by acres of stunning gardens, so we were able to have the ceremony, reception and dinner all outside in a different space on the property, each one with its own unique look and feel. It was simply stunning. We used Dyana and her wonderful team, Sarah and Jessica from Optimum Weddings, to help us create the wedding of our dreams. Once we told Dyana the type of wedding we wanted - a big party in a beautiful setting, with a very relaxed atmosphere - she introduced us to the most amazing suppliers, who made our
dreams a reality. We couldn’t have done it without her. Dress to impress… My dress was designed by Hayley Paige, and completely beaded with a beautifully intricate pattern. The style was very fitted with a slight fish tail at the bottom with a lovely train, shoe string straps and a low, scalloped back. Because my dress was incredibly detailed, I kept my accessories to a minimum. Daniel’s mum leant me a pair of diamond earrings, which I paired with a tennis bracelet and a diamond ring my parents gave to me for my 30th birthday. I also wore a beautiful Hayley Paige cathedral length veil (with extra length added on). I had three bridesmaids, who all picked their own outfits. My two bridesmaids who walked down the aisle with me, wore light pink dresses from the same label, in a
so much greenery and flowers in the garden, we kept the table arrangements simple and used glass pots filled with jasmine, lavender, mint, thyme and rosemary, surrounded by an abundance of different sized white candles. All the trees were hung with fairy lights and the garden filled with storm lanterns, which gave it such a magical and ethereal feel. For my bouquet I kept it simple with white peonies with white hydrangeas as the base of the arrangement. My bridesmaids had white peonies and very light pink and white garden roses. Daniel wore a white rose with eucalyptus as his button hole. Our florist, Unique by Roberto Silvosa, was incredible. They guided us throughout the entire process with the help of our wedding planner Dyana, and really created the wedding of our dreams.

different style. My third bridesmaid was Daniel’s sister, and as she was walking him down the aisle with his mum, she went with a Diane Von Fustenberg jumpsuit in a vibrant shade of orange. Daniel wore a gorgeous threepiece light navy-blue suit from Suit Supply with a very light Ted Baker tie to match the bridesmaid’s dresses. A little helping hand… I had the most incredible makeup artist, Nicola McGeorge. We were on the same page from the moment we met, and she is just amazingly talented. I wanted to look like me, so we kept my makeup natural with a golden glow. I wanted my blue eyes to sparkle, so Nicola used neutral and gold shades to make my eyes pop. I also went for a strong brow and a light pink lip. Hair was
Keeping with tradition… We had a traditional Jewish ceremony and it was held outside in the main garden of the property, under the most beautiful Chuppah. Sadly, Daniel’s father is no longer with us, so we were married under his Tallis, which was incredibly special for us and our family. We wanted our ceremony to be filled with so much love and soulful music, which our Rabi and Chazzan really captured so perfectly.
Garden vibes… Because our venue was surrounded by gardens and so naturally beautiful, we wanted to keep the whole style of the wedding within the same garden theme. The colour palette was inspired by the main house which was a very light pink, and the colours of the trees and flowers in the garden – including hues of greens, whites and pinks. I also wanted to incorporate a little bit of Australia, so the greenery, the Chuppah we were married under, and the isle pews, all included multiple varieties of Eucalyptus leaves. We also included olive leaves, pistacia and ivy, with pops of white and light pink garden roses and hydrangeas. Floral dreams… Our dinner was held in another garden on the property, next to a stunning swimming pool, surrounded by palm trees and bougainvillea. Because there was CONFETI 47

Our catering was by Fiesta Sol and they did the most amazing job! We wanted to have a big party so opted out of a formal 3 course sit down dinner, and instead went for a buffet. For mains we had chefs cooking fresh BBQ in front of the guests, accompanied by delicious salads, grilled vegetables and rice dishes. For dessert, we opted for a doughnut wall instead of a cake, plus a dessert buffet of chocolate cake, macaroons filled with cream and raspberries, as well as a tropical fruit and berry buffet with fresh cream and ice cream. The doughnut wall was such a hit, by the time Daniel and I got there all the doughnuts were gone! We also had a late-night snack of cheeseburgers with French fries and fish & chips. All night long… Our band was BM Artists headed up by the incredibly talented Brendan Mills. As soon as we met Brendan, we knew he was the one to make our big wedding party happen. The band kept the party going through the night with all our 48 CONFETI

The cocktail bar was headed up by Mixologist Andres from Pro Shakers and him and his team were amazing. Halfway through the night, they put on a fire show (which we were not expecting) - fire twirling, mixing cocktails on fire and fire breathing, it was incredible!
Capture the love…
My favourite moments…
For photography we used the incredibly talented Mireia Cordomi. As soon as we met, we clicked, and she got our vision instantly. Her photos captured the pure love and energy of the day, we couldn’t have asked for a better wedding photographer. For videography we went with Antonio de Perez who made us feel so at ease and comfortable all day. We were blown away by the amazing video footage Antonio captured, and cannot recommend him highly enough. Again, we wanted our wedding photos and videos to capture the love, joy and energy of the day, which they both did exceptionally.
There were too many special moments to count but if I had to pick, it would be seeing Daniel for the first time as I walked down the aisle, surrounded by our family and friends who travelled from Australia, Israel, America, England and Scotland, in the most beautiful setting. Also, the speeches. My brother, dad, Daniel, his best man Dave and my bridesmaid Hannah, gave the most touching speeches which all had the crowd in fits of laughter and quite a few (happy) tears.

Young love… We were introduced when we were young by my best friend at the time, and actually formerly met in my local gym while I was in the middle of working out. For a long time, my friend Jason had been threatening to introduce us, thinking we would really get on, and finally it happened. It was a simple first meeting of hello and bye, and it wasn’t until I was alone exercising on another day that Zak approached me and asked me to go out with him. We were friends for a long time, and our relationship definitely changed over the years. We were living in different towns through university years and sometimes would only see each other once every 2-3 weeks. We have basically grown up together and been through some very challenging times but always seem to come out the other side stronger.
Magical Marbella…
The perfect location…
I moved to Spain permanently just over two years ago, and I couldn’t think of a better backdrop for a wedding than ocean views and blue skies. It was a no brainer. It was never going to be a big wedding, and so we preferred to choose a beautiful location over anything else and let’s be honest it doesn’t get much more magical than Marbella.
As soon as we viewed the venue it was an obvious choice, it’s absolutely stunning, with views to die for and completely outdoors, meaning you’re not stuck in an event room but can really enjoy the surroundings and the gorgeous Spanish air. There was a purpose-built ceremony area, with tree lined walls providing shade, and a really lovely breeze so it was
very comfortable, and the dining area overlooked the entire coast from mountains to ocean, it was truly panoramic. The venue was also very relaxed in allowing us to create pretty much whatever we wanted! At this point my mum Joanne and I had decided, as mentioned in Confeti’s last issue, that we were going to set up our own events business Designer Occasion, and as my wedding would be our first event we really CONFETI 51 51 CONFETI

wanted to showcase what we could do, and needed a venue that would allow this. All in all, it was a perfect fit. Letting our imagination run wild… At the start of the process mum and I sat down and brainstormed ideas as to how we could truly set this aside from other weddings we had seen. We wanted to create something very classic and elegant but with elements that were a little different and more creative. First came the colour scheme, and ceremony area decorations, I knew straight away that instead of traditional
52 CONFETI CONFETI 52
flowers covering the canopy I wanted a mass of balloons with interlocked flowers, I hadn’t seen this done anywhere at a wedding and really wanted to create this as a focal point. This then led us to flow through with other ideas like the white aisle carpet with the black bold initials, and through to the dining area with waterfall fabric chair covers and magical tree center pieces, all covered in candle light and crystals. A helping hand… All our wedding décor was sourced from all over the world and delivered to Manchester into the capable hands of Helen
our venue dresser, who then proceeded to make everything up as we planned, and then we had it shipped over to Spain. We did this because we felt there were more options, and some of the items we needed had to be made up. Right at the start we contacted Helen (Hellabaloo) who we had worked with us on different events over the years, and we just knew that she would appreciate our vision, and has her own amazing ideas to add into the mix, and really at this point creatively the sky was the limit! From the Bridal Shower up to the wedding, it was about trying new things that we hadn’t really seen before.
A dress of dreams… We flew Helen over to Spain initially to show her the venues, and the space and talk through positioning of things, and what we could turn the venue into. I then flew over to Manchester in the months that followed to work with Helen perfecting centerpieces and balloons, it was definitely a process. In between this, with ease actually, we sorted the wedding dress. Mum and I had sat ‘Instagramming’ and ‘Pintresting’ to gather ideas and in the end at the appointment at Valeria Luna we designed the dress from scratch. I was drawn to a very classic gown, in a heavy
satin with diamanté belt detail, and it took quite a few fittings to get the drape sleeves to sit as they should just off the shoulder. Valeria Luna were fantastic, so helpful, and so talented I would highly recommend them. The bridesmaid’s dresses were found in Malaga and just happened to be the perfect colour to blend with the elements, however we aren’t for just buying off the shelf so of course we customised them! We found gorgeous diamanté broaches and had them altered to look really Grecian and glamorous with an old Hollywood vibe.

It’s all in the details… The ceremony itself took quite a lot of planning as we were flying in an opera singer from Italy to sing as the guests arrived and throughout the ceremony, we also found a lovely violinist, Paula to accompany him, and held a couple of rehearsals before the big day to perfect everything. I don’t think we will ever forget sitting in our garden in the evening while being serenaded by violin to ‘Time to say goodbye’ it was an amazing experience. All the small touches were also important to us. Providing personalized waters for during the ceremony, fans and little packets of tissues, we feel the key to a seamless event is the attention to detail. Keeping things hot… Alabardero were our caterers, and we had initially selected all our canapés, welcome cocktails, and dinner options to trial at a food
such an amazing atmosphere, we partied till well after 3am. The wedding cake was made by Omaya and I had managed to source these Perspex boxes that meant we could separate the bottom and top tier of the cake, it looked absolutely breath taking and tasted even better, I would not hesitate to contact Omaya in the future she is extremely talented. It was 5 tiers of 4 different flavours with light up crystals in the base all balanced on a square Perspex stand, it was fantastic. Some of the smaller touches we provided were personalised wedding candy and pens for our guests to leave little notes, we also at the last moment, thanks to Helen, acquired a sweet cart, which was turned into the pimp your drink station, where we had a selection of syrups, sparkles and dried flowers to add to your drink and get creative. Memories that last a lifetime…

Where do I begin with the wedding photographer? So, I really spent a lot of time looking online at different people and their work, and immediately as soon as I came across Racheal and Oliver there was no other choice. Their style and everything about their work is just amazing and they are even nicer people to work with. On the wedding day they couldn’t do enough, they knew the importance of the end result not only because you only get one shot at the day but also because we wanted to showcase our business, and to be honest I think the pictures speak for themselves.

I wouldn’t necessarily say I would change anything as all your decisions happen for a reason. The hardest part for us was having spent so long planning and then obviously on the day being unable to physically do things ourselves because we were in the wedding! So, for us it would be much less stressful to work for our clients than doing it for ourselves. We had to fight the urge at so many points to ‘roll our sleeves up’ and get stuck into moving and arranging things! Real Weddings High school sweethearts… Abhishek and I went to high school together and were of the same friendship group. After leaving high school, we met again some years later through mutual friends and have been together ever since.
Abhishek and Esme fused two cultures for their special day, starting with an Arabian Nights themed soiree followed by a traditional A Midsummer Night’s Dream style celebration.
Abhishek is an avid golf fan and has spent many years, since childhood, visiting his family home in Spain and playing golf along the coast. Similarly, I have spent a lot of time in Spain with my family and after taking holidays together in Marbella, it seemed the obvious place for a special wedding. A touch of luxury… Since Abhishek and I were having a ‘two’ wedding, a fusion and mixing of two cultures, we needed a place with lots of space for the multiple events! The venue we chose not only offered lots of space, but a sense of glamour and finesse which represents our characters. The beautiful buildings, along with grace and class, seemed a perfect match for our wedding. A Grecian villa with a touch of luxury. The wedding was split into two days, an Indian day and an English day. For the Indian day, we aimed for rich, bright colours which were reflected in our wedding outfits. I wore rich golds with pastel colours, made in India, especially for the wedding – continuing the golden, summery theme, green leaves were embraided into the dress which were picked up in my jewelry. Abhishek also wore green beads and gold was embraided into his cream outfit. The theme for the first day was Arabian Nights – from Morocco to Mumbai, representing Abhishek’s heritage and the past ten years that I had spent in the Middle East. The colours, purple and orange, were represented in the flowers and the decorations in general. The second day had a more classic theme – A Midsummer Night’s Dream; white flowers and foliage dressed the venue and my dress, by a Lebanese designer and bespoke made, was inspired by the dresses worn by Pippa Middleton and Grace Kelly. The bridesmaids wore black, classic and subtle, while the page boys and flower girl wore typical British royal outfits, bespoke made also.

Morocco to Mumbai… For the first day, Arabian Nights – Morocco to Mumbai – a fusion of food was served, highlighting the ‘round the world’ theme of the wedding. Canapés were served throughout the day on both days and on the second day there was a three-course meal of truffle pasta, an option of fish and meat and finally, a delicious trio of desserts.

Real Weddings Memories to cherish… The entertainment and music was unbelievable, creating an amazing atmosphere. I walked into the second day ceremony to a live gospel choir who performed beautifully and sang several times through the ceremony. Finally, the live band created the perfect party vibe for dancing! The Love Hunters, who were an excellent choice, created a series of beautiful videos and thousands of pictures. The videos and pictures were created in perfect time, receiving two videos the day after the wedding which was the perfect way to end our magical
weekend. They were on hand the entire time, capturing all the moments we had asked for and being patient and professional throughout. I wouldn’t change a thing… The best moments were getting ready with my best friends, walking down the aisle with my father and of course, saying I do to my husband. I wouldn’t change one thing about the entire celebration, it was perfect and if I had any advice to future brides it would be enjoy it! The wedding was managed and coordinated by Brown Bear Events.

The stars aligned
PERFECTLY Rafi & Alicia lived the dream with not one, not two, but three wedding celebrations spread over 10 days and two countries, incorporating their Indian/East African background with their British and Canadian upbringings.
Thanks to the Parents Rafi and I met through our parents as they were friends and he used to come over to my parents’ house for Sunday lunch from time to time. It took five years, and me taking the wrong tablet and needing his medical advice for us to actually connect and for him to make a lasting impression, but when he did it felt like all the stars were aligned. Three Times a Charm We both come from an Indian/ East African background where a big family wedding is a must. My late grandfather also made my father promise to throw me a wedding I would never forget. It all culminated in three weddings... a legal registry wedding with our immediate family, our religious ceremony in the UK with our extended family and friends and our marriage blessing in Spain with our nearest and dearest. Three weddings over 10 days - what a task to undertake. We knew we were so lucky for our families to want to celebrate in such a way. Quintessentially British They say you either want your wedding to be all about you, or all about your guests. We very much wanted to host events that everyone would enjoy and would represent the union of both families. For the UK wedding, it was an easy decision to do it at Woughton House, MGallery Sofitel in Milton Keynes. The setting is so picturesque with the stunning entrance and country feel with the sheep and cows as neighbours. It was the perfect quintessential British feeling we wanted to help mix our heritage with our upbringing. 60 CONFETI
Spanish Spectacle with a Bollywood Twist For Spain, we fell in love with Villa Padierna at first sight. It is beyond stunning and we immediately saw how it could all fit together. We wanted to do a humanist wedding and the amphitheatre setting gave it the drama we wanted whilst keeping it intimate. Walking down those steps with my dad was everything I had dreamt of and more.
For the Bollywood night we wanted something a little different from the norm and that’s exactly what Puente Romano provided. We transformed El Chiringuito into a mix of colour and dance with an Indian style dance-off and firework display. We also had smaller events such as a welcome dinner at El Gamonal, a range of activities for guests including golf at
Villa Padierna, a shopping trip, and a beach chill out as well as traditional events to include the piti ceremony, traditional Indian gift giving ceremony, music party at Mercure Milton Keynes and a farewell brunch. It’s all about the details... For both weddings, we felt everything was about the special touches.
Time to Dress Up We loved the opportunity to dress up. You don’t get to every day, so we threw ourselves into it. It wasn’t only us, but our whole family that were able to enjoy both Indian and English glam.
Real Weddings
For the UK it was all about an English Country Garden – the flowers were white with green foliage. Everything was natural and gave a sense of the outdoors to encourage a relaxed formality. The men donned tails whilst I wore a gold and white sari from my grandmother (in her favourite colours) for the religious ceremony, but then changed into a Zac Posen wedding dress for the wedding breakfast and dancing. For Spain, although we kept it natural with the white flowers for the aisle and table seating, it was an electric blue that wove into my bouquet and boutonnieres as well as into my Gianvito Rossi shoes that accompanied my Vera Wang wedding dress. The men looked dapper in their navy blue suits which matched the navy blue bridesmaid dresses, also Vera Wang. The groomsmen continued the electric blue with their floral pochette and ties from Eton. The pop of colour gave that vibrancy we wanted, whilst also keeping everything elegant and traditional.
In the UK we tried to bind our Indian heritage with our British/ Canadian upbringing. From our Beefeater MC, me arriving in a horse and carriage, to the Indian traditional ceremony elements we included and the tastiest Indian food at our wedding breakfast. The cake was a four-tiered wonder by Amara Cake Boutique with layers such as peanut butter and banana, lemon and poppy seed and scrumptious carrot cake. Poor Sara (the owner), had to work around my unfortunate wheat and lactose intolerances, but she did it with ease and it tasted out of this world! In Spain the wedding was far more intimate and embraced the theme of love. The love we had for each other, for our family and also our friends. To capture this, we tried to make everything tailored; from the welcome packs for the guests, to the activities for each and transport to and from every event. With so many events, we were constantly trying to bring in elements about us and our families to tie everything together into one big long party and celebration. CONFETI 61

Picture Perfect... I can’t speak more highly of Nani and Antonio our photographers! I work in the content industry so I knew the quality I was looking for. With both Nani and Antonio it’s not just the equipment they use that is impressive, but the love and passion they put into it. We were all blown away when we saw the images and videos they created. We knew they were perfect to capture the essence of both our weddings, and so like Optimum Weddings, they worked across both weddings for continuity.
My favourite memories… If I had to do it all again, I wouldn’t change a thing. We felt like we were living in a dream world and we wouldn’t want anything to have changed that. Every wedding is unique and different. I think the best advice I could give to future brides is to stay true to what you (and your families) want. The wedding is a representation of who you are. The bubbles were something everyone laughed at when I wanted them, but it still brings a huge smile to my face thinking of Rafi and I walking out under the sea of bubbles in Spain to somewhere over a rainbow, as they created a rainbow over us. I’d also say to make sure you take the time to think through all the elements. How will your guest feel and what is their journey through your wedding? To bring your vision to life, it’s all about the team you have around you though! We were so blessed to have the best people helping us from the very beginning.
We found Optimum, our wedding planners in this very article a year ago just after we got engaged. With them, Charlie’s team at Woughton House, Yasmin from Villa Padierna and Tara from Puente Romano we had everything under control and the best black book in Marbella and London.
There are too many moments that stand out to pinpoint one, but a few that spring to mind are us walking out under the sea of bubbles in Spain, seeing everyone’s’ honest smiles on their faces! And the biggest moments came when we saw our families together, united. To us that’s what the wedding was all about – unity between both families. We were lucky our parents were friends before we met. It allowed for the perfect marriage of families and friends. We felt very blessed.
It takes everyone working together to create a wedding and everyone from our families, our planner, Optimum Weddings to the florists, hair and makeup artists and AV team built up my perfect #bridetribe.

HERE COMES THE SUN Aine and Dean held their Irish wedding extravaganza in the rustic Cortijo Bravo Hotel in Málaga. How we got here Our story didn’t start in the most romantic fashion. We first met more than a decade ago at a local nightclub. We eventually decided to go travelling together, exploring much of Asia and then we settled down in Perth for a few years. Dean proposed four years ago in Dubai, on our way home to Ireland. We were avid travellers, and we knew that we didn’t want to have our wedding in Ireland, so we immediately started discussing different wedding destination options. We had each spent many family holidays on the Costa del Sol over the years and knew we would be guaranteed sunshine for our big day as well as that laidback holiday vibe we were after. Outdoor entertaining We fell in love with a charming cortijo in Málaga after viewing a wide variety of venues. It has that traditional Spanish feel that our guests probably wouldn’t get to experience if we opted for one of the big modern hotels on the coast. Located in the Axarquía region, with natural surroundings and views toward the sea, the cortijo is a contemporary building

reminiscent of an old 19th century Andalusian cottage. I adored the careful combination of Andalusian and colonial styles created using fine materials and with refined interiors. We planned to have all of our wedding outdoors and the cortijo offered a range of different spaces to allow us to do so. The venue also felt very private for us and our guests as it is a small boutique hotel with only 20 rooms, each with a distinct personality. All dressed up My wedding dress was quite modern with large appliqué details. It was two-tone in ivory and gold, with a strapless upper bodice to accommodate the Spanish heat for the day and a corset back detail. For shoes, I kept it very simple, in ivory satin. Comfort was key: I selected block heel shoes so I could last in them all day and still dance the night away. I fell in love with the colour of the bridesmaids’ dresses, a delicate mauve with beaded detailing that would sparkle beautifully under the Spanish sun. Dean chose a formal grey suit, opting for the full five-piece, while the groomsmen wore just the waistcoat.
The beauty edit
See you at the…
For my hair, Alex create a flawless sleek Hollywood curl do which really suited the glamorous style of the dress. My makeup artist Nicola created a makeup look that was glowy, with brown and golden tones. I wanted to look done but not too done, opting for quite a natural look. Nicola had chosen to use the Mac lip pencil in Spice for my trial, and the girls from work surprised me by gifting me a Tom Ford lipstick which matched the liner perfectly
The ceremony was so much fun. I don’t know if that would be a normal way to describe a ceremony but it is exactly how we wanted it. It was very memorable. Our celebrant Padre Peter was full of character, which we loved. One of my best friends and bridesmaid, Amy, wrote a personal poem about us which added such a lovely touch to the ceremony. And to top it off when Elen was singing Christy Moore’s ‘The Voyage’ all of our guests joined in for a sing-song. It was brilliant.
I started the day by getting ready in the bridal suite with my bridemaids and my mother. The room was breathtakingly beautiful – simply picture perfect. Winding wooden stairs led up to a stunning four poster bed that overlooked the countryside. I have to mention the bathroom as it wouldn’t have looked out of place in the movies. My ′maids took selfies in the sunken bath, which we all found hysterically funny.

Treat yourself For food we started with goats cheese au gratin on a bed of fruit and raisin cake with duck ham and tomato jam. For the main, guests were served sirloin of beef from Los Pedroches Valley with Mediterranean vegetables and dauphinoise potatoes. We finished with white chocolate and passion fruit mousse. Let’s dance
Take it easy We didn’t have any themes; we just wanted to keep things quiet and outdoorsy to suit the venue. As it is a naturally beautiful place with a lot of greenery it really didn’t require much. We didn’t want to take away from the natural features of the site. We just took advantage of the rustic feel, using brown paper cones for holding rose petals and miniature logs to hold the name tags for the place settings.
Our band were incredible. They had our guests dancing the whole way through the band’s sets. They were so engaging and had everyone on their feet. So many guests commented that it was like being at a concert. I could not recommend them enough, a big, big highlight of the day. Then DJ Fuller kept us dancing till dawn. Smile you’re on camera Rebecca Davidson came highly recommended and on viewing her work she did seem the best photographer for us. marry in Málaga Former Tottenham and England footbaler David Bentley married his long term girlfriend Kimberly Mills in a beautiful boho ceremony in Málaga.
Happily, ever after… We met on a holiday park in Devon when we were both teenagers and have been together ever since, having gone on to have four little babies. We chose Spain for our wedding because after living there for many years and knowing the culture we knew it was the perfect location and offered us a wedding in the sunshine. Plus, so many of our friends live in Spain so it meant they could all be there. We just happened to fall upon the hotel by chance one day when visiting Malaga and knew instantly it would be the perfect place for our big day. It had the style and the vibe we desired with enough space for all our guests whilst still feeling very private. It was also important to us to have our close family stay at the venue the night before the wedding which the hotel offered. Boho vibes… We knew we wanted to have a very relaxed, boho style wedding so we chose neutral colours with hints of orange and blush to tie in with the hotel’s flowers and décor. I had my dress made in London, I knew I wanted something with a bohemian feel so had the dress altered with bell sleeves and lace, and with a detailed opened back. I wanted it quite fitted but it still had to be comfortable. I always wanted a really long veil, so I

had one made which was slightly longer then the bottom of my dress. I decided to let the bridesmaids choose their own dresses as they are all quite different and unique, so they chose dresses within the wedding palette. I was slightly nervous as some of the girls only got their dress the week before, but I was pleasantly surprised as all the dresses looked amazing and worked so well together! The flower girls were all in white dresses with slightly longer ones for the older girls. The decor was kept quite simple as the venue is so beautiful, I didn’t want to over shadow it so I decided to use touches of pampas, flowers, candles and macramé. The alter was made from a large hanging macramé piece I found and shipped over
and was surrounded by pampas. I also kept the same design for the welcome sign and the menus to keep a theme throughout. I knew I wanted to have quite wild flowers so went for blush peonies, orange Carla lilies and cream roses which were also used for the tables. All the details… We began with a starter of prawn and tomato salad; the main course was grilled steak and vegetables and the dessert was chocolate cake. We wanted to
keep the food quite simple and were delighted with the outcome. We had Miss-Gin Band for the disco entertainment and Chillandgo for the welcome reception and during the dinner plus a magician and Spanish dancers for some extra entertainment during the meal. Finally, a photobooth in the evening added a final touch of fun. CONFETI 67

The day was perfect, and I laughed and had so much fun from start to finish...” - David
Peter our celebrant was amazing, he had everyone in fits of laughter but also kept it very romantic and true to what we wanted. Another special touch was the vintage car that collected David and brought him from the villa to the wedding venue. family or friends so I’m surprised she managed to get any decent ones of us, but we were delighted with the results. The video was made by Dan Marshall, he was amazing and I’m so happy with the outcome, it captured the day so perfectly.
Memories to cherish… My favourite moment of the day was just before I was about to walk down the aisle and I knew everyone had arrived, it was just me, my dad and my bridesmaids. I could tell my dad was nervous,

but I felt really relaxed and calm and just couldn’t wait to see David. It was such a hectic morning trying to get everything ready but, in that moment, it just felt like all the stress had disappeared and what would be, would be. I really wanted to take it all in as I knew it would never happen again, then hearing our music and seeing David of course was something I will never forget. Another highlight was my daughter Devon who wrote and recited a poem for our vows... it was so special!
If I did it all again… If I could change anything, I think it would have been to have a coordinator for the actual day, I planned the whole thing myself using CONFETI as a reference and a guide but was up until 3am going over everything the night before which was quite stressful. Just having someone who could take a bit of the pressure and stress away so I could really sit back, relax and enjoy the day would have been a better option, but hindsight is a wonderful thing!
My advice would be to make sure if you haven’t got a planner and are relying on friends and family to help make sure you all know where you stand and what needs doing because trying to do it by yourself is very stressful. Keep a copy of CONFETI close to hand, as it really does offer the best array of suppliers on the coast and endless advice. Try and take in every moment because it will only ever happen once and the day goes by so fast and just have as much fun together as you can, as that’s what it is all about. I had so many comments from friends saying that me and David were by each other’s side all day laughing and having fun and that’s exactly what I wanted. Don’t feel guilty if you didn’t get to speak to every guest, them seeing you both having fun is the main thing.

IT’S
OUR WEDDING
Lesley and Tom mixed Scottish and Spanish elements to create a totally bespoke mish mash wedding celebration that perfectly showed off their unique style.
Never give up We first met nearly a decade ago in Aberdeen and we actually ended up getting married on our anniversary. We didn’t plan it like that, it was only after we secured the date that we realized the significance of the date, which we thought was a sweet touch. For our sins we both ended up working at a high-end retailer in Aberdeen. It was on one of our infamous nights out that I was introduced to our new recruit Tom. He asked to buy me a drink and the rebellious 18-year-old me quickly shot him down with, ‘I don’t need a man to buy me a drink.’ (I was obviously a few tequilas deep). Tom recalls this as the moment he was hooked. He would then go on to ask me out almost every day that we worked together. This went on for a year. I had never met anyone like Tom,
70 CONFETI
he was well educated, polite, the perfect man, the man you would marry. I remember specifically saying that to my friends, but it certainly wasn’t what I was looking for at 18. I was still enjoying chasing after the wrong guys. Fortunately for me, Tom wouldn’t take no for an answer, and after a year of patience we went on our first proper date. By that time, we had built a great friendship, so really the rest was easy. It’s true what they say, sometimes what your searching for is right under your nose. A new start Three years ago, we packed the car, the dog and all our possessions and drove down to Marbella, leaving our lives in Scotland behind. We have not only been lucky enough to meet some great friends, many who have become family, but we have
Real Weddings
totally fallen in love with the South of Spain. We wanted to share that with our loved ones, so this is why we decided to get married here. Paradise found We tried to kid ourselves that we would keep it ‘small and intimate,’ but our guest list soon swelled to 80. Tom liked the idea of a beach wedding, yet I was struggling to let go of my dream of an elopement. I wanted something a little more different than the norm and I wanted to be surrounded with lots of greenery. After viewing many
venues and lots of bickering we arrived at the Trocadero. As soon as we walked in, we both knew. The place was stunning, it caters for beach weddings, plus there is a large grassy patch near the trees with an amazing beach back drop, which really appealed to me. I wanted to be able to walk into the venue and not have to do anything decor wise, it had to have personality and soul. Trocadero ticked all the boxes. Heavily decorated in furniture collected from all over Asia, beautiful beach views and high-quality food and drinks. It was perfect.
Things don’t always go to plan
All mixed up
We used the girls at The Olive Tree Company to plan out wedding. I don’t what we would have done without them. They really helped us understand what we wanted, as truthfully, we actually had no clue. They were on hand throughout the process and on the day, which was essential, as the weather turned on us, and they manage to quickly implement a plan b. Fortunately, on their advice, we went ahead with the ceremony being outdoors as planned, and everything came out perfectly.
My style is very mix and match. I tend to not follow style trends or rules. This raised a few eyebrows when I announced that I would allow the bridesmaids to choose their own dresses, with just a guide on colour palette. I really wanted their personalities to come through and felt strongly that allowing them to choose their own dresses would do just that. I think confidence is sexy and beautiful and wanted that for my girls. In order to tie it all in, my mother in law designed and made them all flower crowns. CONFETI 71
Real Weddings For myself, I had actually known for a long time I wanted something really plain and fitted. I didn’t want the dress to wear me. I FINALLY found ‘the one’ in a lovely bridal boutique in London called The Mew Bridal and fell in love with a Rime Oradky dress. As I like to accessorize and with the dress being so plain, I felt it need something really different to contrast with it. I love art deco and vintage and when I came across couture milliner Viktoria Novak who embodies that concept, I fell in love with her work. Within months I had commissioned a head piece which I had spotted from one of her older collections. It was a splurge, but it really made my outfit. You will probably see me in Mercadona with it on now. I had six bridesmaids, and Tom was determined to only have 1 best man. For months I tried to encourage him otherwise. But no. Then a few days before the big day he decided ushers were in fact a good idea. Typical! Fortunately, the amazing Karen at Deseos was on hand to make extra beautiful button holes. I had feathers in my bouquet, and she incorporated that design into them. However, Tom only told the guys, THE DAY OF THE WEDDING. They all have a very quirky style, so even though nobody matched or were wearing ‘wedding attire’, one was even wearing jeans, they still looked pretty cool.
me he could tame my wild frizz and give me smooth beachy locks. Which he did with ease and it’s not easy hair, especially with being so dangerously close to the beach (humidity), dancing and more dancing. The amazing Nicola McGeorge was at the helm with my makeup. Again, the best result was when I let her guide me as I really didn’t know what would look best. I just knew I wanted to look natural with a nice strong lip. Kirsty Penrose also did an amazing job with the semipermanent eyelashes, which really made a difference.

Karen at Deseos nailed what I wanted for my flowers and flower arch. I remember having my makeup done and hearing lots of excited squeals when Karen came in with the flowers. It was lovely. We were lucky enough to
have the lovey husband and wife duo of Lemonface Deco taking care of the little details such as the beautiful peacock chairs and stunning candle holders. Be yourself In the end, I had my little touch of elopement. A few days before the wedding, Tom and I went to Gibraltar to make it legal. It was beautiful and took us totally by surprise. We thought it would be very formal, but it was lovely. On the day, our very good friend Chris, conducted the ceremony. He was fantastic and really stepped into the role. He has known us both for a very long time and we wanted the ceremony to be very personal, so it was a no brainer. He had us both write short answers to how we met and brought it together beautifully. Dumbledore from Harry Potter has said some amazing quotes about life and death, I know is sounds crazy, but look it up. As my parents are both deceased, Chris honoured them by incorporating some of these quotes. It was beautiful and of course our fur baby Al was there. When in Spain We wanted everything to be very social, and our guests to mingle. One of our favourite things about living in Spain, is going out with our friends, and eating tapas and of course the odd drink. It’s so social and interactive. We had Trocadero do a selection of 15 tapas. It was great, and we had a fantastic response.

The dance off Tom surprised me walking down the aisle. He arranged for me to walk to a violinist and cello player, playing radio heads motion picture soundtrack. It was amazing. We also had a great band we spotted at the Elviria food trucks, that played a mixture of reggae. Plus, we were lucky enough to convince the talented John Hobbs to DJ in the evening for some family friendly dance/house music. Captured forever We had Mireia Cordomi on photography, I just really clicked with her style. I didn’t want anything set, just someone talented to document the day. The results were amazing and just what we wanted. The amazing Jeremy Standley looked after the videography. He is crazy talented and provided us with the most amazing videos. I will never forget Walking down the aisle and being surprised by the amazing violinist and cello player and seeing everyone mingling and enjoying themselves. ccording to the journal “Sleep”, married couples tend to be asleep at the same time 75% of the time, and the happier the wife is with the relationship the more in sync the couple’s sleep schedules are. But there are bound to be differences. These can be resolved in a variety of ways, ranging from dual master suites (according to companies engaged in bespoke home design there is a growing demand for these) to using a book light instead of a bedside lamp. Sharing a space that is, say, sixty by eighty inches is not only intimate but at times quite tricky to navigate. There may also be a problem that the space is shared by more than two people. The odd dog or two is perhaps commonplace, but Angelina Jolie once told “Vanity Fair” that she and Brad Pitt often let their six children pile into their nine foot bed for “family sleep”. She also admitted that such “co-sleeping” left “mommy and daddy very tired the next morning”. One has to add that the custom does not appear to have contributed very much to the couple’s long-term happiness either. Even without children present, nine foot of bed surface is not conducive to the cuddling up that is so essential in married life. Even in England, where the “upper classes” have always had separate bedrooms, the regular appearance of heirs and successors testifies to the fact that at times a certain amount of nocturnal activity regularly took place! The moments of sharing which happen when lying in bed, away from children, telephones, work and a multitude of daily distractions is vitally important to the health of a marriage. Bed provides warmth, comfort and security. Even the unmarried Elizabeth I of England, who was a notorious insomniac scared of the dark, always had a female sleeping companion in or adjacent to her bed. “Co-sleeping” may be a common practice around the world, but research has shown that there is a distinct correlation between such “family sleep” and marital stress. This is particularly true where the woman is concerned.
Mothers tend to have more fragmented sleep with a child or pet in the bed, whilst fathers tend not to be so disrupted. But this in itself is stressful, with wives envious of their husband’s ability to sleep like a log. “Time” magazine once illustrated this point graphically by reporting the case of Gabrielle Balkan. This lady tends to try to get to sleep by ten thirty at night. She is then awakened by her husband, Aaron, who likes to keep late hours, and then by one of her six year old twin daughters who suffers from feeling itchy or with a stuffed up nose. “I’m on the edge of the bed anyway”, reported Gabrielle, “hanging on by a thread, but when she gets into bed, I have even less room, and Aaron is oblivious”. Her remedy is to leave the daughter with her husband and go to the twin’s room, where she cuddles the second twin in the bottom bunk, before climbing into the top bunk to sleep.
"In the course of the night, I'’ve slept in all three beds!"
Such a situation can become dangerous if the couple do not discuss it. In Gabrielle’s case a visit to the doctor for the itchy stuffed-up twin could result in an operation for enlarged adenoids and some moisturiser to correct the itch. Aaron could learn to be a bit more considerate in climbing into bed more quietly. At least he doesn’t appear to snore! Research has shown that somebody married to a loud persistent snorer will lose approximately one hour of sleep per night. Whilst not all snorers suffer from what is called “sleep apnea”, it is a condition that affects about thirty million people in the United States alone. In extreme cases there
Padre Peter, cleric for wedding ceremonies and regular contributor to CONFETI Magazine
is a remedy. Known as CPAP (an acronym for Continuous Positive Airway Pressure) these machines provide a fixed amount of pressurized air through a face mask. Of course, sleep apnea may not be the cause of snoring, in the which case ear plugs may be the answer, or beds in separate rooms (reputedly Katie Holmes consigned Tom Cruise to a “snore room” in order to get her beauty sleep. They split in 2012, although this may not have been the cause!) Separate rooms may also be the solution in the case of those couples who cannot agree on bedroom temperature. This is exacerbated if there is also a disagreement on the subject of air conditioning. It may be that the wife, for example, wants air conditioning whilst the husband wants open windows. Our friend Gabrielle has problems in this field also. “I definitely sleep cooler, and Aaron sleeps hotter.” She has solved the problem by dressing warmly to go to bed, even at times wearing a hat. It is, however, possible to find a product called “OppoSheets” (Google them!) which are halfcotton and half flannel. And In 2007 a husband and wife founded
“ChiliTechnology” to help create sleep products to influence a better night’s rest. They came up with a temperature controlled mattress pad which enables each side of the bed to have a different temperature (back to Google!) In 2000 a comedy called “Best in Show” hit the screens. It was a “behind the scenes” look into the highly competitive and cut-throat world of dog-shows through the eyes of a group of ruthless dog owners. It never realised the success that it deserved. In one hilarious scene an upper-class, stereotypical yuppie couple, Meg and Hamilton, take their pooch Beatrice to a marriage therapist as the hound is suffering from a psychosis after catching them making love. This, of course, is another problem with “cosleeping”!

Everybody’s doing it; Mila Kunis, Nicole Richie, Serena Williams, Jessica Simpson, Mark Wahlberg, and it’s not just the A-listers, nowadays more and more people are opting to get married after having kids. The traditional get married, move-in, have kids’ sequence has radically changed and is no longer the only legitimate path. Couples living together with children has become the new normal. 55% of 28 to 34-year-old millennials choose to have their first child before marriage, according to a report released in June by the American Enterprise Institute and the Institute for Family Studies. If you are opting to get married once you already have one or two little ones you are probably wondering how to incorporate the children into your wedding. How to include them in the ceremony? How to keep them, and your friends’ kids occupied during the day? First things first, ask your kids how they’d feel most comfortable taking part and find an age-appropriate way to include them. Here are a few of our favourite ideas to make them feel as special as possible and part of the celebrations.

1
Let them help with the proposal…
2
Bring them along to the cake tasting…
Landry Fields Wedding Photo by Christian Oth Studio
Involving the kids from the very beginning is sure to make them feel included and is a great opportunity to provide extra reassurance of their place in your heart.
3
We are yet to find a kid who doesn’t like cake so secure some serious parent points by asking their opinion on flavours and design. Not only will it make them feel special, they will love telling the guests that they helped pick the cake. Include them in DIY decorations…
This one is a win-win, as the kids will have great fun plus you get some help and save money with a little DIY. Whether it’s handwriting the name cards, sealing envelopes, or decorating table arrangements, make it a moment you share together.
4
Write them into your vows…
If you are opting to write your own vows this is a wonderful way to remind them this marriage is about your family unit. Plus, why not engrave a name plaque for their room with the vows so they have a special keepsake from the day.
5
Have them walk you down the aisle…
With traditions evolving it doesn’t have to be your father, or a parent who walks you down the aisle, if your child is slightly older this can be a way to make them feel extra special.
6
Make them bridesmaids or groomsmen…
7
Have them perform at the wedding…
8
Add some kid-friendly touches to the day…
9
Hire a kid’s entertainer…
If you have teenagers, why not add them to your bridal party? Or if they are younger, page boys and flower girls are an excellent way to make them feel like they have an official role. Babies or toddlers who are too young to walk down the aisle can be pulled in a beautifully dressed wagon by older members of the bridal party, just be sure to practice this before the big day!
Do you sit through hours of singing or dancing at home? Why not allow your child to showcase their talent in a special performance for everyone? Perhaps a dance with their friends, or even reciting a poem, allowing them a moment in the spotlight will mean a lot to them.
Activity packs for the table including colouring books and stickers is a great way to keep the kids entertained during the reception. Or why not set up a giant Jenga or arrange a scavenger hunt for them during the cocktail hour.
Just as you would book a band or arrange a singer, a kid’s entertainer can be a fabulous highlight for the younger guests. A good option is to plan this while the speeches are taking place as it will allow the adults the opportunity to listen uninterrupted and keep the kids from getting bored during dad’s tenth story!
10
Task them to be junior photographers…
Equip them with disposable cameras, easy for tiny hands, and designate them as junior photographers tasking them to document the big day. A beautiful opportunity to see your wedding through your children’s eyes, that or prepare for lots of photos with cut off heads!

The Ultimate HONEYMOON Packing Guide Packing for that once-in-a-lifetime holiday is a daunting task, for a helping hand follow these easy tips to ensure your trip goes as smoothly as possible. Plus, we have thrown in some of our favourite items that need to make it into your honeymoon suitcase!
Do know the rules!
Don’t wait until the last minute!
If you are travelling long-haul make sure you have done all your research in advance with regards to visa and travel documents and have everything available and easy to access once you land in the airport. You don’t want to be faffing around, desperately searching for your documentation at customs; that doesn’t say relaxing honeymoon to us.
Don’t overpack!
Make sure before you fly you are up-to-date with all the travel restrictions so you know what you can take on the plane. Check with customs, airline weight limits, and even hotel safe procedures to ensure everything is in place and ready to go!
Do make photocopies of passports, ID’s and credit cards!
Print two copies of each and bring one with you and leave the other behind in the hotel room. In the event you lose your wallet or bag you will always have access to the information to enable you to arrange replacements.
Start your packing list the month before you are set to travel, if you are heading off in a traditional time frame, shortly after you say I do, you will no doubt be very busy preparing for the big day itself so the last thing you want is to be frantically packing as you are rushing out the door. Plan ahead and make a list to avoid any panic, this is supposed to be a relaxing time, don’t start things off in a stress.
Do you really need to take 10 pairs of shoes on a beach holiday? Think ahead and plan your outfits to avoid overpacking. Big, heavy bags make travelling a lot more challenging, and realistically it’s your honeymoon, if you’re not in bed you’re going to be at the beach! Don’t pack shoes you have never worn… trust us you won’t wear them, and you won’t need them. Your honeymoon is not the time to be breaking in new shoes, no matter how beautiful they are! Don’t forget to leave a little extra room for souvenirs, you will want to bring something home to remember this special time.
Don’t bring bulky toiletries!
Travel size items are ideal for vacations; toiletries such deodorant, toothpaste, moisturiser, make-up remover etc. can all be purchased in smaller, handy travel sizes, perfect for keeping to your luggage allowance. Even buying two of more travel size items can be easier to pack than full size bottles, plus you can leave them when you head home, adding a little extra room for shopping!

When it comes to accessories; pack light. Opt for pieces that can transition from look to look. Statement earrings are a great choice for dressing up a simple evening look. This gorgeous green set will shine against a honeymoon tan or keep things neutral with soft grey.

You are going to want to capture every moment of this once-in-a-lifetime trip and a good camera is a must. Batukarang Nusa Lembongan
Our first stop in Indonesia: Nusa Lembongan, one of three islands that make up the Nusa Penida district. As our boat docked, we looked around saw a tall hill that bordered the whole beach which was filled with small hotels…
and there amongst them, was ours, Batukarang. From what we saw, we thought we were in paradise, and stepping foot into our hotel only made us more certain of it.
The hotel complex is located on the hill, with various levels formed of suites, villas, a SPA area, an infinity pool with views of the sea, a pool bar and a restaurant on the lowest layer with direct access to the beach. An absolute dream location. We were anxious to see our room, and one of the staff, which like everyone in Bali couldn’t have been more pleasant, took us to our dreamy love nest. They say a picture says a thousand words… and everything was so beautiful, but especially the bathroom, with
its stone bath tub and an outdoor shower really took our breath away. We ate, swam, walked on the beach, saw the most unbelievable sunsets and biked throughout the island. Our first stop and we were already madly in love, what could be better than this? But Bali always surprises you, with an almost infinite number of beautiful locations… none is better than the next, they’re all unique, you simply need to hope for the time to experience each and every one of them. The island houses After the torrential rain that fell upon us as we left Nusa, we finally reached land, where we were taken to The Island Houses and met the owner, a charming woman named Annelies. She’d prepared the Gili Meno house for us but due to the bad weather we had to change it for Seminyak… initially we thought, ‘what a shame! It’s not going to be the same’, but when the taxi left us at our door, and we opened the huge wooden gates, we almost fainted in excitement. African House was to be the home of our dreams for the next few days. With an open plan living space where there was a living room, dining room, kitchen and just by it three individual cabanas which operated as bedrooms it was like being in the jungle within the city. The decoration was something to behold, every detail had been taken care of, African fabrics, small and intricate pieces of furniture which had been acquired from all corners of Bali, warm lighting, background music… and a beautiful pool which connected all the bedrooms. Without a doubt we experienced an unimaginable sense of peace. We did Yoga on our terrace and we had freshly made breakfast that was served in our villa. An absolute luxury. The bedrooms were tasteful and designed with personality and colours that captivated your attention, beds surrounded by canopies… a magical holiday, recommendable to all. In the area where we were there were other villas, all decorated differently, various styles, something else to them, allowing the guests to experience a different kind of holiday. When you visit, don’t doubt to spend some time chatting to Annelies, who will share her unique story, and take it from us, hearing it will make you want to take a leap of faith and turn your life around like she did!

Next came the chance to lose ourselves in the wonderful rice fields of Ubud. Annelies, our previous host, recommended a slightly unknown hotel. She mentioned that availability was complicated as they tend to be full all year round, but we didn’t let that put us off and spoke to Wendy, the owner of the boutique hotel. And luckily for us, she welcomed us with open arms. Being at Stone House was like submerging yourself somewhere out of this world, of course, having beautiful rice fields in front of you helps, but it was an oasis… like its name indicated, everything was geared around the beautiful grey stone pool, surrounded by palm
trees and dense vegetation that made you feel like you were truly in the middle of nowhere. The huts, which all faced the pool were stunning. The place captivated us to the point which didn’t leave our huts in the days we were there and loved every minute of it. There was one small detail that stood out amongst the others. In our bedroom there was a writing desk where we found a block of organic paper and colouring pencils. When you’re surrounded by such beauty, your imagination escapes you and all you want to do is try and capture it somehow to never forget, and what better way than by drawing.
Once more, a magical place, unbelievable breakfasts, breathtaking sunrises, sunsets on a terrace overlooking rice fields… what more could you ask for? Thank you, Wendy, for welcoming us into your home, it was a magnificent experience. CONFETI 91

Confeti Travels Securing a reservation in this bamboo hut usually requires booking at least one year in advance, so you can imagine what the place is like. After almost two hours by taxi, venturing into the deep jungle, leaving behind the city and travelling to somewhere where we had nothing around us. Here there were three huts, truly at one with its surroundings and with no distractions. The perfect location to do nothing at all, except enjoy nature. This is a full-service accommodation, with breakfast, lunch and dinner included, and a staff that exude kindness. I wish that a few words could describe the experience, but it would require a lot more… Serenity, peace, beauty are a few to start. Nothing can compare to Camaya House, it’s living in the jungle. Without walls, windows, doors, only bamboo and the sound of the fauna around you. Your gaze will get lost in the depth of the greenery, the rice fields and the noise of the crickets. Relaxation has a synonym and it’s called Camaya.

Six senses From the jungle we travelled to the beach, a location in the south called Uluwatu, where Six Senses would prove to be the hardest goodbye. Being there was the closest thing to being in paradise. The spa is considered to be one of the best in the world, with world changing massages and sunrise yoga classes. Breakfast is a real treat, with culinary options from around the world, sweets and pastries of all types, every fruit imaginable and a top tier service.

Confeti Travels Our room, a luxury cabana, had been thought through and designed to perfection. The bed was something out of a dream, with views of the sunrise, and a bathtub from which you could contemplate the ocean. Once again words can only make a mere attempt to describe this place, but nothing can compare with living the experience yourself. The outdoor cinema was worth a visit, located on the right of the infinity pool both that and the ocean blended in the horizon, creating a surreal view which is embedded in our memories forever. We’ve all heard Bali’s sunsets are out of this world, but this was something out of dreams. Thank you to all the staff for how they treated us, the incredible villa where we stayed and every small gesture they had with us. Love like this is much more beautiful.
Bali is a country we will always return to, because there’s always new places that will surprise you, and make you fall in love more than their predecessor, even if you thought it impossible. Bali fills the soul with emotions, smells, experiences, and unforgettable memories.
There’s a saying that says, if only I hadn’t gone a first time so I could relive it all like the first time, but in Bali, you will always fall in love again. It will always be like the first time. Fall in love again, in Bali.

ho would of thought a large picture frame could be such a brilliant wedding prop, plus it won’t go to waste as you can use it to frame your favourite photo after the big day! It’s not just the bride and groom who can ‘frame’ themselves, why not leave multiple frames around the venue for your guests to play with; not only will everyone have great fun it provides a quirky theme running through the wedding photos making for the perfect bridal album. You can even match the frames to your wedding décor and style. Nowadays, with social media becoming such a part of our daily lives it’s time to make the most of it on your wedding day… pick a hashtag, something like… #JayneandBillsWedding and ask all your guests to use it when they upload wedding photos to Facebook, Instagram or Twitter to be sure you don’t miss any of the memories, laughs and antics from your special day!
