We are, after all, a society magazine and it doesn’t take much to persuade us to attend more of Marbella’s fabulous events. Any excuse to get out there and rub shoulders with the city’s glitterati. Check out the gossip and pics from the hottest happenings in our extensive society section.
royalty like Britney to keep up. However, she’s soldiering on and 2011 sets to be the year for her comeback. Good luck to her we say.
We especially enjoyed the RS Academy launch of the BAC Mono supercar at Suite in Puente Romano. (page58) The evening was slick, sophisticated and stylish – just like the car! We’d have loved to take it for a spin, but after all those cocktails we thought better of it. Maybe next time.
And if your nose isn’t red enough from all that partying, then pick up a red nose for Comic Relief. Read all about how you can contribute to the fun fundraising in our feature on page 73 and visit rednoseday.com.
Also, against all odds, cover star Britney is back, and is fighting harder than ever. With artists such as Lady Gaga and Justin Bieber storming the charts with their outlandish outfits and fresh faces, it’s hard for pop

Society Marbella will also be expanding in a different direction in the near future. About to launch is Society Morocco, which is set to take the country’s sizzling social scene by storm.
We’re looking forward to the summer season kicking in. So many parties, so little time. With the weather hotting up, so are our events calendars. Luckily, we’ll have even more space in our supersized society section to include the crème de la crème of the coast’s social events. So watch out for your face out and about.

FILM RELEASES
SHOW REEL Laura-Jane Bruce keeps you up-to-date with the newest film releases to hit cinema screens this month and puts you smack bang in the middle of all films in production and gossip from the set
The celebrity world of cinema
The Adjustment Bureau
In the thriller The Adjustment Bureau, Matt Damon stars as a man who glimpses the future fate has planned for him and realises he wants something else. To get it, he must pursue the only woman he’s ever loved. On the brink of winning a seat in the US Senate, ambitious politician David Norris meets beautiful contemporary ballet dancer Elise Sellas; a woman unlike any he’s ever known. But just as he realises he’s falling for her, mysterious men conspire to keep the two apart. David learns he is up against the agents of fate itself - the men of The Adjustment Bureau - who will do everything in their considerable power to prevent David and Elise from being together. In the face of overwhelming odds, he must either let her go and accept a predetermined path or risk everything to defy fate and be with her. Starring Matt Damon and Emily Blunt. Rated PG-13.
Fair Game
Fair Game is a drama surrounding the outing of CIA agent Valerie Plame Wilson. Ambassador Joseph Wilson watched his wife’s CIA status become compromised after he wrote op-ed columns that accused the Bush administration of manipulating intelligence about weapons of mass destruction to justify the invasion of Iraq. Plame Wilson left the CIA in 2005, and she and her husband filed a civil suit against Vice President Dick Cheney, Karl Rove and Cheney’s exchief of staff, Lewis “Scooter” Libby. While Rove and Deputy Secretary of State Richard Armitage admitted they leaked her agency status to journalists, Libby was convicted of lying to a federal grand jury about his role in compromising her covert status.
The Lincoln Lawyer
LA criminal defense attorney, Mickey Haller, signs on to defend slick, suave, playboy real estate agent Louis Roulet. Roulet has been charged with assault, and his overbearing mother will do anything to clear her son’s name. Cost is no issue - Mickey has his first high-paying client in years. Digging into the case, Mickey and private investigator, Raul Levin, reveal a blacker picture of Roulet’s personality, as well as evidence of a sinister past. Another sudden death and new links to a notorious double-homicide, make Mickey question if he’s finally in over his head. His pursuit becomes a question of morality and even a question of his own mortality. Starring Matthew McConaughey, Marisa Tomei and Ryan Phillippe. Rated 18.
Starring Naomi Watts and Sean Penn. Rated PG-13.
The Eagle
The Eagle is an upcoming film adaptation of the 1954 historical adventure The Eagle of the Ninth by Rosemary Sutcliff. The film is set in the second century AD and tells of a young Roman officer’s search to discover the truth about the disappearance of his father’s legion in the north of Britain. The centurion, Marcus Aquila, travels with a British slave, Esca, beyond Hadrian’s Wall into Caledonia, where he must confront the tribes to recover the legion’s eagle standard and restore his father’s reputation. Starring Channing Tatum, Jamie Bell and Donald Sutherland. Rated PG-13

Chalet Girl
Pretty tomboy Kim Matthews, 19, once a skilled skateboarder, now works hard to support her family. She accepts a catering job in a fancy chalet resort in the Alps and is initially shocked by the glitzy world of posh people, champagne and skiing. Though the guests look down on her, she soon settles in and discovers her knack for snowboarding, as well as the chance to win some much-needed prize money at the big, end-ofseason competition. Encountering her attractive, but spoken for boss, does she have what it takes to make that jump? Starring Bill Nighy, Ed Westwick, Brooke Shields and Felicity Jones. Rated 12A.
Country Strong
A rising young singer-songwriter, Beau Hutton, becomes involved with fallen country music star Kelly Canter, and the pair embarks on a tour to resurrect her career. The duo is led by her husband/manager, James, who accompanies them along with beauty queen-turned-singer, Chiles Stanton. Complications arising from romantic entanglements and old demons threaten to derail them all. Starring Gwyneth Paltrow, Tim McGraw and Leighton Meester. Rated PG-13.
A movie adaptation of Skins has been officially confirmed. Jack Thorne will pen the script with assistance from show creator Bryan Elsley. The film will be developed by Film4 with Company Pictures, Stormdog Films and CinemaNX. Several characters from the four E4 series of the show are expected to feature in the Charles Martin-directed project. With shooting in Bristol and the Isle of Man already in process, the film is scheduled for release in summer 2011.
Andrew Garfield has said that he plans to hibernate into the character of Spider-Man for his role in the upcoming installment of the film franchise. The actor explained that the production will be a lengthy one, giving him ample time to enjoy playing such an iconic character. Garfield went on to reveal that he is working on improving his physique in order to represent Spider-Man as he should appear. The as-yet-untitled Spider-Man film is due for release in 2012. David Schwimmer has said that his new movie Trust was made with
the aim of teaching children and teens about the dangers of cyber predators. It stars Clive Owen as a father dealing with the fallout of his daughter’s internetrelated sexual assault. The film exposes the true threats posed by cyber predators. It sends a clear message to teens and parents; to be aware of the real dangers of cyber space. Trust is scheduled to open in cinemas towards the end of 2011.
Jason Segel has announced that he is writing a romantic comedy entitled Five-Year Engagement. The star of I Love You, Man and How I Met Your Mother admitted that he hopes to bring something new to the genre by creating a film that contains substance. The film tells the tale of relationships and how complicated they are. It is set over a five-year period, during which time things change and morph, the power dynamic shifts, people wane, eyes wander and you question everything. Shooting starts in April. There is no current release date set for the film. After winning the prize for Best Sitcom at the British Comedy Awards, Simon Bird has unveiled storyline details for a movie adaptation of The Inbetweeners. The actor, who plays Will McKenzie in the E4 comedy, said that the plot would centre on a lads’ holiday abroad. They visit Greece’s wildest holiday destination – Malia – and the film will contain everything you’d expect from a “boys being bad” comedy. Co-stars Joe Thomas, James Buckley and Blake Harrison will join Bird in this guaranteed hilarious film adaptation.
Disney has announced that it is developing a movie based on the abandoned attraction The Museum of the Weird. The Museum of the Weird never became a Disney attraction, having failed to make it past the concept stage. However, Disney now plans to take the abandoned attraction and turn it into a movie. The attraction was conceived by Claude Coats and Rolly Crump, the same men behind The Haunted Mansion and Pirates of the Caribbean. The Museum of the Weird was designed to contain a variety of strange and interesting objects such as talking chairs

CORNER
Gwyneth Paltrow has admitted that she found it difficult to understand her Country Strong character’s battle with addiction. The Academy Award winner revealed that she had trouble fathoming the lifestyle of the down-and-out country star that she plays in the film. In order to better comprehend the mentality of an addict, she turned to her Iron Man 2 co-star Robert Downey Jr, who reportedly battled substance abuse addiction for many years. Country Strong is released this month.
Christian Bale will lead the cast of Chinese director Zhang Yimou’s latest film Nanjing Heroes. Zhang, who helmed the opening ceremony of the Beijing Olympics and made Hero and House Of Flying Daggers, will next turn his attention to a film about the 1937 Nanjing Massacre, in which Japanese troops killed thousands of Chinese citizens in the nation’s capital. Bale will play an American priest named John who helped many Chinese escape death. The US$90 million production will be shot 40 percent in English and the rest in Mandarin Chinese. Is there nothing this man can’t do? In previous movie The Machinist, Bale gained attention for his devotion to the role and for the lengths to which he went to achieve Reznik’s emaciated, skeletal appearance. He went without proper rest for prolonged periods, and placed himself on a crash diet of mainly coffee and apples, which reduced his weight by 4 st. 4 lb in a matter of months. By the end of filming Bale weighed only 8 st. 9 lb.
and enchanted carts. The Museum of the Weird will join a host of other theme park attraction-based movies, including Pirates of the Caribbean, The Haunted Mansion and Jon Favreau’s upcoming Magic Kingdom.
Johnny Depp is reportedly set to star in an adaptation of the
Skullduggery Pleasant fantasy
book series. Depp will play a skeletal wizard in the film, which is based on the books by Irish author Derek Landy. The series revolves around a 12-year-old girl named Stephanie who enters a magical world and meets the titular character. They embark on adventures to stop a villain from unleashing a powerful weapon on the world. The movie adaptation is expected to hit cinema screens in 2013.

Cd releases, concerts and rock snippets
Beady Eye
Different Gear, Still Speeding For those of you not in the know, Oasis is no more. However, former members of Oasis, minus Noel Gallagher, have reformed as English rock band Beady Eye. Since late 2009, the band has been writing material for its new album, which is set to have a similar sound to Oasis, and their UK and international tours have already sold out.
Avril Lavigne
Goodbye Lullaby The inspiration for Avril Lavigne’s new album Goodbye Lullaby came from the promotion of her first fragrance, “Black Star”. She developed a jingle to accompany the launch of the scent, which she later developed into a full song. This set the tone for the rest of the album. Goodbye Lullaby reportedly showcases the natural beauty of her voice, and is very personal to her as she composed and produced the entire album at her home studio.

Travis Barker
Give the Drummer Some Former drummer for American rock trio Blink 182, Travis Barker has branched out on his own and produced his first solo album Give the Drummer Some. Collaborating with some of the biggest names in music spanning all genres (Linkin Park, Kanye West, Eminem and Rihanna to name a few), this album has been described as a ‘no-one genre’ and for audiences to expect the unexpected.
Jennifer Hudson
I Remember Me Appearing in 2004’s American Idol, and finishing in seventh place, was one of the greatest things to happen to Jennifer Hudson. Since then, she has appeared in Dreamgirls alongside Beyoncé Knowles and won countless awards including an Academy Award and a Golden Globe. I Remember Me will be Hudson’s second studio album and, according to the singer, reflects the chapters of her life throughout the journey she has taken to get where she is today. d
The Strokes
Angles The Strokes have been out of the limelight for the past five years, but now they are back with their infectious beats and lyrics. The first single Under Cover of Darkness was released last month, to worldwide praise. Their new album is described as a return to the basics, and fans can expect the songs to be a similar style to their first album, Is This It.
Noah and the Whale
Last Night on Earth English band Noah and the Whale are releasing their third solo album since forming in 2008. Their infectious sound is refreshing and provides the perfect CD for listening to while you are driving. The new album promises to continue with their sound of pop mixed with indie folk; it will be adventurous but unmistakably Noah and the Whale.

Kylie Minogue
has revealed that she plans to relaunch her acting career in the near future. The Get Outta My Way singer, who previously starred in Moulin Rouge and scored a part in a 2007 Doctor Who Christmas special, mused that she would like to make her return to the silver screen in a big budget musical. Minogue hinted earlier this year that she would consider reprising her breakthrough role as Charlene Robinson in Neighbours.
Kate Moss is reportedly
planning to launch her music career by releasing a rock album. The British supermodel, who has dabbled in the industry with guest appearances on tracks by Oasis, Primal Scream and ex-boyfriend Pete Doherty’s band Babyshambles, is said to be seeking guidance from rocker partner Jamie Hince as she pens material for her debut solo record. Moss previously expressed her desire to help X Factor star Cher Lloyd launch a fashion or music career.
Bon Jovi has revealed that
they are toying with the idea of performing at Glastonbury next year. The group said it would consider performing at the three-day event if it was invited. The Living On A Prayer rockers, who are due to play London’s Hard Rock Calling festival next year, also revealed that they were persuaded to play the event over a concert at Wembley Stadium because of the gig’s location. The band also recently announced a further two 2011 tour dates.

Selena Gomez and Justin Bieber are still fuelling the “are they/aren’t they” debate about whether they are dating. The pair were spotted together walking arm-in-arm after eating at Philadelphia’s International House of Pancakes in America last month, but continually deny any romantic involvement to the world’s press.
Simon Cowell’s record company Syco has reportedly invested £2 million in X Factor boy band
One Direction. The group
is apparently Syco’s main global priority for 2011. They have been to the States to meet top producers and songwriters before they start recording material for their debut album. Their new single will be released on March 13, and is almost certain to fly off the shelves.

Like many women they are not really swayed by the latest musthave products, they just want to know what really works and, of course, which items actually make it into a beauty editor’s makeup bag. So, I have decided to give away my insider’s secrets, and give an honest account of what I use in everything from cleansing to nail varnish. This month, I will be starting with the basics: my skincare. I have been acne prone since
26
my early 20s due to developing polycystic ovary syndrome. Many products only seemed to aggravate this condition and it took years for me to find a brand that not only eased the symptoms, but actually helped reduce them. I now cleanse everyday with the Cleansing Milk, from Dr Hauschka (1), one of the purest skincare ranges available. I remove the cleanser with Pai Muslin Cloths, as they have a gentle exfoliating action that leaves skin super clean and smooth. Always start by opening the pores; hold the cloth soaked in hot water against your skin for five seconds, then repeat. To close, finish with 10 sec-
onds of cold water. Once the pores are closed, I massage Dr Hauschka Rose Cream Light (2) into my skin. The rose oil and wild rose hip extract envelop the skin with a protective nurturing film. If my skin is feeling particularly dry, then I will change to the normal Rose Cream, which is slightly richer. I am probably going to shock most of the beauty world with the following statement – I do not use a toner. Cue the scary music. I know, I know, it’s like the three “R”s, you should cleanse, tone and moisturise, but I just don’t like it, and more importantly my skin doesn’t. The only toner
that seemed to agree with me was the Intelligent Nutrients Organic Anti-Aging Mist, which I used in conjunction with their cleanser, serum and moisturiser. However, it is hard to get hold of, so I went back to my Hauschka. I also stick to the Hauschka advice about using night creams. They believe creams should not be used at night time as the skin uses this period to excrete toxins absorbed during the day – so any products that interfere with this natural process should be avoided. Daily use of night creams can mean that the skin becomes dependant on an external

source of moisture rather than producing its own. I do, however, use an eye cream and I believe that you should start using one from your early 20s. I gently tap La Melle´s Dermaheal Eye Regeneration Plus Cream, the most powerful eye product available on the market today, around my eye contour. As La Melle´s biotechnology research company manufactures products locally for the South African market, it is another one that is difficult to get your hands on. If this is the case, then Environ’s C-Quence Eye Gel (3) is also fantastic. On top of this I have regular acupuncture

around my eye area from Dr Zhang, (+34 952 900 626, www. acupuncture-marbella. com). During an acupuncture facial treatment, small needles are used to stimulate circulation, boost collagen production and plump fine facial wrinkles. Believe me it works. Regular exfoliation, is another must. It gently removes dead cells and reveals new softer, clearer and glowing skin. I recommend using St Ives Invigorating Apricot Scrub (4) once to twice a week, depending on how oily your
skin is. This particular exfoliator may be on the cheaper side, but it gets the job done as well as any of the higher-end versions.
propolis and organic buriti, this effective treatment visibly cleans pores and purifies skin to reveal a beautifully clear and silky smooth complexion.
To win the war against blackheads, I use a deep cleansing mask weekly. To get the best results I spend 20 minutes alternating between the steam room and an ice cold shower. This boosts the circulation and draws out any impurities. I then slap on Nudes Deep Cleansing Mask (5), and sit in the changing room waiting for all the funny looks. With naturally active
Last but not least are the lips. Nothing beats Elizabeth Arden’s 8 Hour Cream (6). It is the ultimate multi-tasker, use it on your cuticles, as a face mask, cracked feet and even as a lip gloss. The latter is not top of the pops with my boyfriend, who constantly complains about the smell of it, but hey, it hasn’t stopped him wanting a smooch so it can’t be that bad, can it girls?

FITNESS TIPS
Heidi Klum is undoubtedly one of the most beautiful women in the world. However, she has to work hard to maintain her physique. Here, David Kirsch, her personal trainer, shares his fitness philosophy and key moves to get into shape
“
I like quick and efficient circuit training. Do the following circuit at least once for a David Kirsch “Butt Blasting” workout: Platypus Walk Sumo Lunges Bent Leg Deadlifts Push Ups Oblique Crunches Now, all of the exercises in the world won’t give you a buff body if you are not eating and hydrating properly. I would avoid the following: dairy, regular and diet soft drinks, sports drinks, and fruit. Instead, stick to greens – spinach, broccoli, kale and asparagus (the mvp natural diuretic) and snacks like raw almonds, red peppers, and celery. For hydration, drink water, green tea, herbal teas and the David Kirsch vitamin waters.
”
Sumo Lunges Do 15-20 of each: Platypus Walk Start in a plie squat position, with your hands behind your head and your thighs parallel to the ground. Waddle forward! Right foot in front of your left, stay engaged in that plié squat. Now reverse. (Make sure your knees stay out and your weight stays back in your heels throughout the movement)
28
Stand with your legs shoulder length apart. Lift your right leg from the knee and move it in a circular roundhouse. Land out to the side, wider than you started and immediately squat down, channelling a real sumo wrestler. As you come out of the squat, lift your right leg and kick out, leading with your heel. (Each element should flow smoothly into the next. There are no breaks in a sumo lunge!)
Bent Leg Deadlifts Holding a body bar, dumbbells, medicine ball (a broomstick or a baby will do in a pinch!). Stand in your start position, with your legs shoulder width apart. Hinge at the waist. As you bend forward, soften your knees and stick your butt out. (Modification: If you’re feeling shaky, hold the back of a chair or the edge of a table for balance.) (Modification: If you’re feeling great, try lifting your alternate leg as you go down.)
Oblique Crunches Lie flat on your back. Place one hand behind your head while crossing the opposite ankle over the opposite knee. Fix your gaze on the ceiling and bring your elbow towards the raised knee. Return slowly to start position.
Push Ups To do a perfect push up, start out in front of a mirror so you can check your alignment. Are your hands properly aligned? They should be directly under your shoulders and line up with your chest. Make sure your core is nice and tight, and your shoulders and neck are relaxed. Visualise what you’re trying to accomplish. You’re going to use your triceps to help execute the perfect push up, so make sure you feel them engage. Your body, from shoulder to foot, should be tight, even as you lower your body.

struggle to keep up with the leaps and bounds in audio and visual technology. It seems that every time I think I am up to date with the newest and latest flat screen with integrated subwoofer, there is a bigger and better version on the market. Luckily, the experts in the industry now provide a really complete service when it comes to suggesting the most suitable technology for your requirements. The leaders in the market realise it’s not just about the high-definition screen and the decibels of the speakers. Their trained technicians take into account the physical space you have, the atmosphere and ambience you want to create, and can even guide you on colour schemes and furniture distribution. If you are keen on audio visual widgets, experts such as See & Touch Marbella can provide you with a new line of trend-setting products named Creation. This collection includes a Wall Pad, a touch-less light switch made of aluminium with a stunning
Swarovski crystal border. You simply have to wave your hand in front of the panel and the pre-programmed light scene illuminates the room. The panel allows you to switch to other programmed light scenes, and even to the last music played. The IP-based Wall Pad is compatible with the control systems of all other manufacturers. For those fortunate enough to have the space for the ultimate home cinema experience, See & Touch has the Creation Cinema Chair, which comes together with a Joy Stick. AND THEN THERE WAS LIGHT
L
ighting has always been one of the most crucial elements in design. Some of the most stunning design concepts have been left in the shadows due to the lack of thought behind the lighting. As an interior designer, when designing any space, whether it is commercial or residential, you need to envisage the concept in both natural and artificial light to ensure that the tones, colours and textures work well in both settings. LED lighting has widely been associated with commercial projects such as nightclubs, bars and restaurants, but LED specialists have now adapted their technology to make LED more and more accessible for residential projects. Softer hues of light are often preferable to direct lighting, and LED technology now allows this possibility to be implemented in most social spaces. With dimmable, multi-colour, low energy options readily available, the opportunities are as endless as your imagination. AMCprojects is a dynamic new business, and offers a complete and personalised lighting design service that includes planning and management of interior and exterior lighting projects. A team of professionals with over 16 years of experience advise clients in English, Spanish and German on how to light their residence or business. The initial consultation is totally free with no obligations. They offer continued support in the form of meetings with architects, interior designers or builders, site supervision, with detailed instructions and advice on how to install the lighting material. Owner/Director Alan McDermot reconfirms my strong belief that the lighting of a space can be the make or break of a design when he states, “I believe that in the right light something ordinary can look extraordinary.

t the LivingKitchen international kitchen show in Cologne, the German premium kitchen manufacturer Poggenpohl presented innovations that enhance their designs. In addition to new fronts and materials as well as improved high-quality interiors, the shows highlights also included the sales launch of the new +ARTESIO® kitchen concept. +ARTESIO® was only presented for the first time last year and has already won two prestigious international design awards. Created in collaboration with Hamburg star architect and designer Hadi Teherani, the concept goes far beyond the industry’s typical fitted kitchen, offering instead an allembracing solution in an architectural melting pot that fuses furniture design, wall, floor and ceiling. Poggenpohl presented the new +ARTESIO® concept for the first time to the broad German public at LivingKitchen . There was also news on Poggenpohl’s Porsche Design P´7340 luxury kitchen. For this first time, it was seen at the show with an exclusive and stunning glass-carbon front. Familiar from aerospace and motor racing, the material underscores the exclusive look of the Poggenpohl kitchen that often gets the name kitchen for the man

Also on display with new front design was the PLUSMODO® line that’s familiar for its light, airy feel. The black-brown terra colour shade with matt surface is just one of several new surface and colour options that are not only available with immediate effect for the PLUSMODO® model but for the entire product portfolio. IT’S ALL IN THE DETAIL Whether your aim is to entertain and impress or simply to have a functional yet fashionable space for cooking home meals, an industrial style kitchen is the perfect solution. The collection of contemporary kitchens available at Gunni and Trentino cleverly contrast cool stainless steel with warm timbers and dark lacquers. Softening the clean lines of the kitchen form with more decorative chandeliers and patterned wallpapers, allows this minimal design to blend into any home space. Combining the hundreds of lacquer colours and veneer finishes available with top quality silestones and steels keeps the kitchen practical and inviting.
A walk-in-wardrobe doesn’t have to feel closed in. This design available at Gunni and Trentino lights the inner space with backlighting, and keeps the room feeling open thanks to large full height glass doors with thin timber framing. By designing the entire corner with a glazed return, benefiting from the natural light of the bedroom, the wardrobe feels like an extension of the existing space rather than a windowless chamber.
Stitched full height leather panels create this tactile feature. The ribbon of metal running half way up the doors breaks up the solidity of the units.
The simplicity of more modern, minimal design concepts rely on straight lines and natural textures to bring the design to life...
Positioning the wardrobes to integrate the entrance to the room makes for a grand entrance and by running the units full height accentuates the height of the room.

WHAT IS MY LIABILITY AS A COMPANY DIRECTOR ? By Dimas Cuesta

In Spain all stock companies are considered to be limited liability companies, with S.L. and S.A. companies being the most frequent stock companies. This means that, in principle, the company’s potential liability is limited to its own assets and this is irrespective of, and distinct from, its shareholders’ and directors’ assets. This limited liability is the primary reason for a businessman to operate under these kind of companies: to limit the risk of potential failure of the business and protect their personal wealth, dwelling, car and all the assets accumulated with a whole life of hard work, to preserve their life and the life of their loved ones at the end of it. Nevertheless, regarding the liability of the directors’ assets in relation to the company’s debt, there are various exceptions arising from insolvency situations that are frequently overlooked and which could lead not only to the financial ruin of the company but also to the financial and personal ruin of the director and his or her family. This article has the intention to create awareness of this liability system among directors, with the aim of promoting preventive advice which easily avoids situations of personal liability in regards to the company’s
debts. This awareness should lead directors to perform all their obligations more carefully than at the present moment and thus avoid personal liability of the companies’ debts before it is too late.
Liability of the directors The Corporate and Criminal regulations, along with the Insolvency Act 22/2003, regulates the widest and most severe liability system ever for directors in Spanish legal history, and sets forth very serious sanctions. Insolvency situations have increased dramatically in the last year and the number of sanctions and director’s liability is increasing enormously day by day. The situations of personal liability of the directors are more common than they should be, basically because of lack of insolvency practitioners specialised in this matter and the lack of diligence of the directors at the time of getting appropriate advice. Directors need to speak to a corporate lawyer or an insolvency practitioner when the company cannot generate enough revenue on its own to pay all its creditors. The directors or the partners should not have the obligation to pay the company’s debt from their own pockets as long as they fulfil all their legal obligations. Among the different obligations that will generate a personal liability if breached is the obligation to apply for voluntary administration before the Mercantile Courts (concurso voluntario) within two months of awareness of the insolvency in the company. Failure to do so shall give way to the obligation of the director on a personal basis to pay the balance of unsatisfied debts after the liquidation.
There are also other kinds of personal liabilities for directors of companies with debts in a situation of insolvency, such as infra capitalisation (articles 104 LSRL and 260 LSA) and operations of the directors against Spanish law or against the by laws of the company damaging a third party (articles 133 LSA). Along with these personal liabilities there are other common criminal liabilities related to certain situations of company insolvency (article 257 and following of Spanish Penal Code). Directors will not be released from such liability by simply dismissing and appointing a new director, as directors of the last two years may also be liable. Even “shadow directors” or “de facto” directors will be found liable, along with the formal director registered in the Mercantile Registry. In order to avoid these liabilities it is essential to obtain specialised professional advice in order to comply with all directors’ legal obligations and ensure, first, a complete discharge of liabilities of the directors of the business and therefore protect their private wealth from the company’s debts; and, second, also ensure that all the advantages of the Insolvency Law have been effectively used, and as much as possible has been done to facilitate the survival of the business. It is a fact that directors put themselves into the abovedescribed situations very often without being aware of it. If you are the director of a company under an actual or imminent insolvency situation, this article intends to let you know that you urgently need advice on how to best discharge your liabilities with immediate effect. If you are a creditor of a company which may be in an insolvency situation, you have an urgent need to look for professional advice on how to best claim these personal liabilities from the directors and obtain full satisfaction of your credit, interests and damages arising from the breach of the obligation to pay.

WHO’S IN WHO’S OUT
SABERING AT NERMANS The noble art of sabering originates in France, from the word sabrage; this is the technique of opening a champagne bottle with a saber. Its roots derive from the days of Napoleon. It was thought that when the officers of his army returned home after victory, they were handed bottles of champagne by cheering townspeople as tokens of appreciation for their bravery and gallantry. As the soldiers were mounted on horseback, they took out their sabers and struck it against the lip of the bottle with an upward blow and sabered off the cork. When performed on a suitably chilled bottle of Champagne, the cork and glass lip fly away, spilling little of the precious Champagne. The pressure inside a bottle of Champagne (100psi) ensures that no glass falls back into the bottle, making it safe to drink the spoils.
44
The staff of Nermans Restaurant have been successfully sabering champagne bottles since they first opened in March last year, and allow clients who observe the sabering to keep the cork as a souvenir. Nermans offer sabering shows for all special occasions, and throughout March and April will be running sabering courses for anyone who would like to learn. It is important to remember not to try this at home as it can be dangerous. Nermans Restaurant Bistro & Bar Tel. 952 815 398/607 942 167 | www.nermans.com

Room 101 is the latest, and most exclusive, bar to open in Puerto Banús. The décor is antique chic in style, with the Moroccan-esque and individualistic furniture adding character and substance. The bar area is perfect for socialising or unwinding on the leather armchairs and faux fur stools. Friendly table service is also available. Owner Danny Robson, the creative genius behind the bar’s unique look, has spent an incredible amount of time and thought developing the Room 101 design concept. The bar is adorned with paintings from Danny’s latest collection, who lists great service, a good atmosphere and a close affinity with clients as being the most important factors in launching a new bar. The attentive, friendly staff at Room 101 is an eclectic mix of Swedish, Spanish and English nationalities. The tagline for the bar is ‘it’s personal’; and everything from the décor to the atmosphere evokes this. Open from 7pm until late throughout the week and weekends, Room 101 is the perfect setting for after work socials, private celebrations and generally somewhere to relax or catch up with friends. The diverse and funky music is atmospheric but not intrusive, the décor is cosy and inviting, and the bar stocks an assortment of drinks and creative cocktails; all at excellent prices. Room 101 is now open for business, and will be officially inaugurated on March 26, so please go along and make things personal.

CLS63 AMG TORQUE JUNKIE
Motoring author, racing driver and photo-journalist Ian Kuah reports on the new CLS63
J
ust a few short years ago, the badge to have on a serious drivers’ AMG car said V8 Kompressor. Today, the new badge to have says V8 Biturbo. But while the S and CL-Class were launched with the all-new twin-turbo M157 engine family first, the CLS63 AMG is the first model to really express AMG’s sporting aspirations for this motor. The new big numbers are 525hp at 5,250rpm with 700Nm of torque from 1,750 to 5,000rpm. And if you order the Performance Package, the uprated motor delivers 557hp at 5,750rpm with 800Nm between 2,000 and 4,500rpm. Also impressive for such a powerful, large displacement engine are the 9.9L/100km average fuel consumption, and the 231g/km CO2 emissions.
65
DRIVE ON
I
drove the Performance Package car, and am happy to say that it is as engaging to drive as it looks. It also accelerates with a level of sheer brawn that leaves its legendary naturally aspirated predecessor for dead, while producing an equally spine tingling V8 growl. This is a tunnel junkies car for sure. Its straight-line performance is now truly epic, and planting your foot firmly on the accelerator produces a level of performance that will undoubtedly catch many a supercar driver unawares. The fact that the air/water-intercooled Biturbo V8 produces so much grunt low down while most supercars require high revs to really get cooking with gas simply compounds the AMG’s ability to demonstrably gather speed at a dramatic rate in real world driving conditions. All this would count for nought if the CLS63 AMG were a wimp in the bends or under braking. However, I quickly discovered that C63 AMG apart, this is the most agile and chuckable car in the current AMG range, with a great seat of the pants feel in both steering and chassis. It also has great stopping power with the optional carbon ceramic brakes, which use 360mm diameter vented discs all round. At 1,870kg, The CLS63 is no lightweight, but it is 255kg lighter than the S63 AMG powered by the same motor. It is also 100kg lighter than the rapid SL63 AMG, and has more torque lower down in the rev band. Only a serious back-to-back on a track will pick a winner, and I suspect that points would be scored on both sides with the CLS’s greater torque offsetting the SL’s amazing ABC suspended chassis. The fact that the new V8 motor has turbochargers yet responds practically as keenly as its naturally aspirated predecessor is down to a number of factors. With 5,461cc, even though this is an over-square motor with a bore x stroke of 98 x 90.5mm, the four-cam V8 has good inherent torque. Couple this to its relatively high compression ratio of 10.0:1, variable valve timing, the accuracy of direct fuel-injection, all managed by a state-of-the-art ECU, and you have the ability of the an unprecedented level of response for a turbocharged motor. AMG claim 4.4 sec for the 0-100km/h sprint with the 525hp version, while the Performance Package shaves 0.1 sec off that, gaining even more ground at higher speeds. Both versions are electronically limited to 250km/h, but as

with all AMG cars, you can have the limiter removed for a small fee. According to Mario Spitzner, Mercedes-AMG’s effusive Director of Branding, Marketing & Sales, the E63 AMG will adopt the M157 motor from July for the 2012 model year, thus completing the motor change. However, the C63 and SLS AMG will retain the naturally-aspirated 6.2 litre M156 motor. “Just as the SL55 AMG was a cult car and the Kompressor motor a sacred cow with owners, there is a hardcore of C63 AMG drivers who told us in no uncertain terms that they want the 6.2 litre naturally-aspired motor to remain in the C-Class,” said Mario. “They are also overjoyed that the C63 AMG will receive the Speedshift MCT 7-speed with the facelift this spring.” During my first drive, I played with the various settings of the AMG Speedshift MCT 7-speed wet clutch gearbox, which has now become a familiar friend, as had the Drexler 40 percent locking limited-slip differential. As with the SL, S and CL63 models, this gearbox rattles off machinegun fast but immaculately matched upshifts, while its blipped downshifts can be faster than even the mighty DSG or PDK type shifters because the 7G can skip up to two gears at a time on the way down. Ironically, the major limitation of an otherwise fast sequential gearbox is clearly stated in its name. Similar but not the same, was the verdict after a few miles of benchmarking the CLS63 AMG against the most similar car in the range, the E63 AMG. As the CLS range is derived from the E-Class, the comparison is valid and the differences as significant as the similarities. First the similarities. In non-AMG trim, the second generation CLS has a wider front track than equivalent E-Class models, and uses some of the suspension components from the E63 AMG along with a quicker steering ratio to create a more engaging drive. If you order a standard E-Class or CLS, you basically have the choice of steel springs or Airmatic with the V6 versions, although the V8 cars have the air suspension all-round as standard. On the E63 AMG, bespoke suspension arms increase the front track by 56mm for extra stability, while the front wings are 17mm wider per side for a total body width increase of 34mm over the E500.
“...We finally convinced management that our clients demand interior appointments like leather covering for the dashboard and other refinements commensurate with the status of our cars.

“Both cars use linear rate steel front springs give a more sensitive feedback at the helm,” AMG’s engineering guru, Tobias Moers explained. “They also give us the ability to better hone the ride comfort in tandem with the handling; while the rear air suspension gives us the ability to keep the ride height constant.”
front/rear weight distributions,” Friedrich continued. “At this the E63 with the M156 motor has a 51/49 percent front/rear weight distribution. Because of the turbos, intercooler and other ancillaries like a higher-pressure fuel system with bigger pumps, the M157-engined CLS63 has az 54/46 percent weight distribution.”
With this work in mind, AMG took the base chassis concept from the E63 AMG and adapted it to the CLS. Thus, the CLS63 AMG also has steel springs with electronically controlled gas-filled dampers in front and air suspension with electronic controlled damping at the rear, but from then on, the fine details diverge.
AMG introduced their linear rate steering rack on the E63 AMG. Offering a 22 percent faster ratio of 14:1 for better turn-in and overall response, this rack is carried over to the CLS63 AMG, whose wider front track gives it even keener turn-in, front-end mechanical grip and cornering stability. The Performance Package includes an Alcantara covered sports steering wheel rim, which gives better grip and feel. The combination communicates exactly what is happening up front, helping you turn into bends quickly and accurately, without being over sensitive. With honourable exception of the SLS, this is undoubtedly the best steering system on any current AMG model.
First off, the CLS has a wider front track than the E-Class out of the box, so the CLS63 ends up a further 20mm wider than the E63 in track, and 24mm overall wider (12mm per side) thanks to all-new front wings. The car sits on 9.0J and 10.0J x 19-inch lightweight, forged alloys with 255/35R19 and 285/30R19 Continental Sport Contact 5 tyres, as first seen on the SLS AMG. Visually, these changes give the CLS63 AMG an even broader and more purposeful stance than the already muscular looking base model.
When the original Mercedes 7G-Tronic gearbox was launched back in late 2003, it had a lowly torque limit of 600Nm in first gear, and 2nd to 7th gears designed for short peak loadings of 760Nm, and a maximum of 400bhp.
I noticed that the CLS63 AMG felt more comfortable in all three of its suspension settings than I remember the E63 AMG being. Discussing this later with Friedrich Eichler, Director of Engine and Powertrain Development, I learnt that this was not just my imagination or simply a function of the different road conditions I tested the two cars under.
Things have moved on in the intervening years, and the latest iteration of bespoke AMG Speedshift MCT 7-speed has taken the basic concept of this 82kg gearbox, married it to a wet clutch and beefed it up to the point where it can handle a constant 900Nm of torque. In parenthesis, an old-style torque converter automatic gearbox of similar power and torque handling capabilities weighs a whopping 125kg!
“Compared to the E-Class, the CLS bodyshell has a superior stiffness-to-weight-ratio,” he explained. “It is around eight to nine percent stiffer in torsional rigidity and three to four percent stiffer in bending. Because of this change in the elastokinematics, we are able to use slightly softer spring and damper rates, and you feel this in terms of a more supple ride in all three modes of the AMG Ride Control.”
In the first round of its development, the MCT gearbox was able to cope with the brawny M156 6.2 litre V8 AMG motor in its various guises. However, the much greater torque potential of the new Bi-turbo M157 engine was a different challenge again.
“The other reason for bespoke spring and damper rates is the fact that the E63 and CLS63 have slightly different
“The one man, one engine, build philosophy is important for our brand values and clients value the plaque with their engine builders name on top of each motor.
”
68
“Our first reaction was to add a couple of extra clutches to the six we already had,” Friedrich Eichler explained. “However, this made the ‘touch point’ where the clutched engage rather aggressive, and we felt it was too uncomfortable in everyday use, even for sporty drivers.” “The solution was to retain the six existing clutches, but raise the hydraulic line pressure,” he said. “This increases
the clamping force without affecting the touch point and works perfectly in practice. At the same time, we uprated the planetary sprockets for increased durability, so this gearbox now has plenty of headroom.” The fact is that past AMG models based on the C, CLK, and E-Class cars have been criticised for interiors that fall far short of their mechanical sophistication and their exclusive pricing levels. “That is a thing of the past,” Mario Spitzner was at pains to convey. “We had restrictions from the accountants before, but we finally convinced management that our clients demand interior appointments like leather covering for the dashboard and other refinements commensurate with the status of our cars.” “Of course, the CLS, with its much more bespoke design and use of better materials gets off the line with a head start in this respect anyway,” Ola Kallenius, Chairman of the AMG Management Board, explained. “What we then add to it in the way of our sports seats, special leather and wood or carbon trim is icing on the cake. “We are always working on deepening the AMG identity of our cars,” he continued. “The one man, one engine, build philosophy is important for our brand values and clients value the plaque with their engine builders name on top of each motor.”
69
DRIVE ON
“Now, we are reinforcing this ethos with the AMG logo embossed in the leather covering on top of the gear shifter,” he continued. “In fact, we spent many hours honing the shape and material finish of this lever, as it and the steering wheel are the most important points of contact between the driver and the car.”
It is this kind of attention to detail beyond just making well-built cars that go quickly on the road and around a racetrack that makes AMG cars special to their owners. The standard Mercedes CLS is already a special car for most people. However, the significant re-engineering that has gone into the C63 AMG has transformed it from an object d’art for any car lover, into an object of desire for the hardcore enthusiast. For some, this might just be the best AMG car ever.

DO SOMETHING FUNNY We’ll let you into a secret – no matter how much they deny it, everyone loves to dress up. This is great news for all you fundraisers out there because asking your friends, family and colleagues to change their clothes is the simplest request of all. They just have to pay for the privilege. Plus, getting sponsored to look the part is guaranteed to raise some seriously big bucks – so you’d better lead the way… Dress up, dress down, cross dress or undress. Don your nightwear, your underwear, your clubwear or formalwear. Go 70s and 80s, hippy chick or glam rock. Wear red, wear bling, wear granny pants and wigs.
EAT SOMETHING FUNNY If you bake it, they will come. It’s true. The classic cake sale is, quite possibly, the most popular fundraising idea of all time. From cupcakes to cookies, flapjacks to Florentines, and all manner of delicious goodies to send those blood sugar levels on the highest of all highs, the cash will come rolling in when the cakes come out. After all, who doesn’t like a nice set of buns? So get making, get baking and they’ll sell like hot cakes. Plus, there are tons more yummy fundraising ideas to try. Whether you host a dinner party and charge your guests to enter, hold a fine cookery competition where everyone pays to taste and vote for their favourite dish, or get sponsored to abstain from eating certain treats – you can raise a tasty sum when you fundraise with food.
HAIR-DO SOMETHING FUNNY What is it about fundraisers and hair? Whether they grow it, shave it, dye it or wax it – they sure know how to use it when it comes to raising cash. So if you’re looking for some hair-raising ideas (see what we did there?) then look no further. You can go red all over – and we mean ALL over – wax your chest, shave your head, grow a moustache, wear a wig, copy a famous barnet, or aim for the worst do you can muster – just make sure you get sponsored for your hairy efforts. So go forth and let your hair down – whilst fundraising of course.
DARE SOMETHING FUNNY Believe it or not, there are tons of fully-grown ladies and gents who love nothing more than to lunge themselves into giant tubs of cold baked beans, all to raise cash – and a smile. But that’s not all. From getting sponsored to carry out big naked antics and messy forfeits to staying silent and doing fantastic physical feats – our most dedicated of fundraisers will do (almost) anything to get their pals to open their wallets and empty their pockets. Tempted? Go on, we dare you!

BOLLYWOOD ndian food is one of the most flavourful delicacies the Ipresent world knows. The aromas and fusion of herbs and spices us with a range of dishes; from very spicy meals, to more demure flavours. Bollywood Indian Restaurant offers a mouth-watering selection of innovative and contemporary Indian dishes that blend delicate flavours and light textures, prepared using the very finest ingredients. The restaurant presents a unique dining experience, serving innovative Indian cuisine in an elegant and stylish setting, situated in the heart of Nueva Andalucía. Open for lunch from 12.30pm-3.30pm and dinner from 6pm-midnight, you can enjoy the delicious food as a lunchtime snack or an evening feast. Enjoy with friends, for celebrations and intimate meals, Bollywood is the perfect location for the whole family. If you decide to have the take-away option, 10 percent is taken off your final bill. Home delivery is also available, with a five percent discount if you live within a five kilometre radius of the restaurant, so you can enjoy the delicious tastes of India from the comfort of your own home. However, I always prefer eating in the restaurant to soak up the atmosphere and experience (and also there’s no washing up!). Bollywood is host to some of the friendliest staff here on the coast; every visit is warm and welcoming. The bilingual members of staff are all eager to help and explain the ingredients in any dish, as they all have at least eight years experience working in Indian restaurants.
ollywood employs two experienced chefs. Sudash, the B curry chef, is originally from New Deli in India, and has worked at Bollywood since the restaurant first opened last October. He has over 18 years experience in the kitchens of Indian eateries; working in popular restaurants in India, Germany and here in Spain. Ruhel, Bollywood’s tandoori chef from Bangladesh, has been working in Indian restaurants for the past 10 years, and brings everything he has learnt to the kitchen to ensure the best dishes are served to you. All of the delicious ingredients used in each dish are freshly sourced from the leading suppliers of meat and vegetables in the area, so each dish is not only delicious, but is made from the finest produce. As an appetizer, we were served poppadoms with the traditional condiments of mango chutney, diced onions and a mint dipping sauce. The poppadoms were beautifully thin and crisp, and teased our taste buds, making us want more. To start, we were served an assorted platter, which included seekh kebab, chicken and lamb tikka, meat and vegetable samosas and onion bhajis. This was the perfect dish to share between four diners, due to the diverse selection of crunchy bhajis and tender meat. For our main course, five dishes were produced to share. Firstly, sizzling chicken shashlik from Bollywood’s specials menu, in which the chicken is marinated until tender and served in a tomato-based sauce brimming with flavour. Secondly, my personal favourite, garlic chili chicken; bar-
78
becued chicken cooked with onions, peppers and a special mix of spices. This is one of the more spicy dishes Bollywood serve, and is not for the faint-hearted. However, the chefs can adjust the level of spice to your taste. Our final chicken dish was the traditional chicken jalfrezi, which is cooked with fresh onion paprika, tomato, chilli and spices in a hot sweet sauce. In all three dishes, the chicken was deliciously moist and the sauces piquant. To introduce a bit of variety into our meal, we were recommended lamb rogan josh; a Kashmiri dish cooked with rich tomatoes, onions and yoghurt. This dish originates from Kashmiri, a region of the Indian subcontinent, where the generous use of yoghurt and cinnamon in the sauces give the dishes a creamy consistency. The lamb itself was beautifully tender and melt-in-the-mouth delicious. Our final main course was saag aloo; potatoes prepared with chopped spinach. Having never tried this before, I must admit I was slightly skeptical, but the richness and creaminess of the sauce means I will definitely be ordering it on my next visit. Our side orders of mushroom rice, vegetable rice and a garlic naan, freshly baked in the tandoor oven, accompanied the rich sauces of the curries perfectly. If that wasn’t enough food for us to gobble down, we were served two desserts of mango and pistachio kulfi, which is a traditional Indian ice-cream with caramel sauce drizzled over it. Even though all four of us were fit to burst, the lightness and freshness of the ice-cream cleansed the palate and was the perfect way to round off the meal. Bollywood serves an exotic blend of fantastic fragrant food in an ambiance inspired by rich culture, all topped off with excellent service. Visit the restaurant on any occasion, and take an exotic journey through the tastes of India. Also, when you place an order at Bollywood throughout March, you will be given a 20 percent discount card to use on your next order. With an offer like that, as well as excellent food and service every time you visit, there is no excuse not to eat at Bollywood Indian Restaurant.

You’ll have already had the luck of experiencing the amazing treats that lay in wait for me at this hidden gem of a restaurant, which is tucked away in Marbella Old Town. For those of you who are ZoZoi virgins, as I was not so long ago, I am willing to bet you’ll be hot-footing it down there to give it a try after reading this. ZoZoi is a charming, cosy, rustic restaurant, which is busy every day of the week – always a good sign, I think. Diners flock to ZoZoi all year round thanks to the amazingly consistent service and warm welcome provided by owner Maryse and her team. The other big draw is owner and chef Benoit’s amazing cooking – his 25 years of experience in the kitchen shine through in every dish. Just don’t ask him for any of his recipes – they are all top secret. I made my debut at ZoZoi’s with a friend, but it is the kind of place you can go for any occasion from a birthday celebration in a big group to an intimate dinner for two. We kicked off the evening with a bottle of house red, as recommended by Maryse. She couldn’t have made a better suggestion; the Crianza was complex on the nose but smooth and full-bodied – the perfect complement to our dinner.

We started with the sharing starter, which included a selection of starters such as Thai crab cakes, caramelised ribs, tempura prawns, arancinis, stuffed mushrooms, hummus and the delectable ZoZoi tatare (made from salmon scallops and foie gras, tossed in walnut oil). The specials menu changes weekly. From this week’s starter options we enjoyed the Provençale gratinated mussels, with tomato, rosemary, garlic and onions – delicious. For my main course, I chose the honey and rosemary crust rack of lamb (which was tender and cooked to perfection) served with aromatic potatoes dauphinoise and roasted caramelised parsnips. My fellow diner opted for the smoked haddock served on a bed of crushed potatoes and leeks, topped with a soft poached egg and coated in a creamy grain mustard sauce. We could not find fault with either dish. We ended the dinner with a selection of desserts: a melt-in-themouth, home made apple crumble; a light, creamy, fluffy bourbon crème brulée; and a perfectly soft chocolate brownie with hazelnut and candied orange. Overall, the whole experience was warm and delightful, and now ZoZoi can add two more dedicated fans to its already impressive list of regulars.

DYNAMIC LOUNGE CAFE W
ith the skies brightening up and the sun beginning to shine, it is almost that time of year: bikini season. We all know what goes hand in hand with wearing a bikini – exercise. However, it is important to eat well along with exercising to remain healthy and stay in shape. Dynamic Training Centre in Le Village is one of the best training centres on the coast. Not only does it have fantastic gym facilities, classes for Jiu Jitsu and other martial arts, it also has a fantastic café-lounge where you can re-engergise after an exhausting work out. The café-lounge is open for the same hours as the gym; from 08.30 – 22.30 weekdays, and 09.00 – 15.00 on weekends. From Easter onwards the opening hours will be extended.
All the food in the Dynamic Training Centre café-lounge is healthy and organic, with a different special on the menu every single day, as well as helpful, bilingual staff available to take your order. All ingredients are sourced fresh daily, allowing you to replace those all-important nutrients that you burn off during a work out. You can guarantee that every single dish is healthy and, most importantly, delicious. With a range of sandwiches, salads and desserts that are good for you, the menu shows the amount of calories in each dish, along with the protein, carbohydrate and fat contents. Even the wines are organic! In this health hot spot, you can monitor exactly how you are fuelling your body, and be safe in the knowledge that your gruelling work out isn’t wasted.

Raising money for Down’s Syndrome
Raising money for brilliant causes
Never before has a show given more
In conjunction with the Mayoress of Marbella, and other well-known personalities and companies, Aloha College was very happy to sponsor the New Year Calendar of Asociación Crece. This charitable organisation provides all sorts of services for young people with Down’s syndrome in Marbella. As well as organising the sale of the 2011 calendar at the school, students also brought in donations on their nonuniform day. Here the students hand over the money raised in a special assembly to welcome the members of the Association.
Living Well Marbella presented a fantastic two-day exhibition last month. With over 25 workshops and over 65 stands, the Puente Romano Hotel hosted inspirational talks from Dr. Hilary Jones, Willie Thorne and Louise Van der Velde. A black tie dinner also raised money for Cudeca and Meningitis UK.
By kind permission of Cameron Mackintosh and the Southbrook Group, Aloha College presented its performance of Lionel Bart’s musical masterpiece to a packed house. OLIVER! is one of the most beloved British musicals, vividly bringing to life Dickens’ timeless characters with its ever popular story and songs about the boy who asked for more. The success of the first spectacular musical evening certainly left parents and students asking for more – luckily there were three fine performances of Oliver by Aloha’s talented students.
