For larger events, the rustic special event venue, Chautauqua Hall, is perfect for community gatherings, square dances, and the like.
Don and Vivian Doolittle’s two-bedroom apartment has a view of Chautauqua Hall on the Manor Campus. They used the comprehensive Design Studio at Willow Valley Communities to pick out finishes to personalize their home.

The Doolittles are a delightful couple who retired from Bergen County, NJ, to a modest development near Charleston, SC, in 2002. As some ailments began to emerge in recent years, they looked into a CCRC in the area. That’s when their son, Don Jr., who works in Lancaster, insisted they come up and tour Willow Valley Communities. The rest is history.
With their children close by in Lancaster, Maryland, and New Jersey, Vivian is happiest when the grandchildren come to visit. Here’s how she describes her perfect day. “First the family would go to the pool, have a poolside lunch at the Clubhouse Café, then go play pickleball and the arcade games. Later we all meet for an outdoor barbeque picnic at Chautauqua Hall. Back to our apartment for dessert, then go bowling ‘til 9:30.” Sounds like grandmother heaven!
Vivian is dealing with some lower back issues. She needs to have surgery but can recuperate if needed at the supportive living facility at Willow Valley Communities before getting back to the apartment. And, with a short walk, Don can be right by her side during her recuperation.
Soon to be under construction is the newest residential offering at Willow Valley Communities, SouthPointe Village, 120 luxury apartments on the Lakes Campus. These apartments will be 2 BR/2.5 baths or 2 BR/2.5 baths w/ study. They are available now for pre-sale.
