NEW ZEALAND DISASTER FUND

IDF CONTRIBUTE $50,000 TO RED CROSS DISASTER RELIEF DONATION

On behalf of the Ideal Foundation, I am pleased to advise a donation of $50,000 has been given to aid the Red Cross NZ disaster relief.

One of the Ideal Foundation’s missions is to look after New Zealand communities. Given this crucial time, it’s important to recover the lives of vulnerable communities by mobilising the power of humanity and enhancing resilience. Ideal Foundation was delighted to donate $50,000 in support of the Red Cross New Zealand disaster fund.

This funding will help Red Cross continue to be there for those impacted by the deadly Cyclone Gabrielle across Aotearoa New Zealand and be prepared to give life-changing assistance to those impacted by the next emergency we may face.

Red Cross aims to provide essential supplies, crucial psychosocial support, and practical help to those who have been forced to leave their homes.

We have full faith in the Red Cross NZ to ensure this donation is distributed to those most in need.

Together we support one another,

Roger Edgar

EVolocity CEO Sarah Fitzgerald says, “EVolocity is more than a STEM Programme, we are developing future generations of engineers, technicians, technology innovators and entrepreneurs. New Zealand needs a highly skilled workforce to deliver sustainable infrastructure and clean transportation. EVolocity provides practical hands-on engineering learning as well as career pathways for young New Zealanders. Together with our partners and sponsors we are investing in our young people and in our country’s future.”

EVolocity grows young people’s interest in science, technology and engineering and to show them that there are actions they can take and decisions they can make that will have a positive impact on climate change and our environment. EVolocity helps create possible future career opportunities for youth. Our young participants are full of imagination & innovation, they literally ‘drive’ their team built electric vehicles in our competition/programme.

EVolocity are unique in terms of engaging interest in industrial design, mechanical & electrical engineering, electronics & computer programming. The participants compete their vehicles in Regional finals and then a National finals later in the year.

EVolocity launched in Canterbury in 2014 with 16 school teams participating from 11 schools. We are now active in 8 regions across New Zealand.

Some of our current aims are to promote our programme to more students who identify as: Maori & Pasifika, Female or from lower socio-economic backgrounds. There are a growing number of girls participating, approximately 18% of our participants. Nationally, around 26% of students taking part are Maori & Pasifika.

Many of the EVolocity values line up with the Ideal Foundation. Like-mindedness along with Kiwi ingenuity and the desire to create with EV possibilities in a fun and sustainable way, we’re excited to see where this impact leads!
