Camping Games & Activities for GrownUps

SOURCE: Various

Just because you are all grown up doesn’t mean you’re too old for camping games and activities. Here are a few camping games and activities designed for adults that prove spending time without cellphone service doesn’t have to feel like the end of the world.

Murder by Winking

This is great to play around the campfire because the dancing shadows can make it very interesting. Here’s how it works:

Everyone stands around the campfire and one person is designated by the group as the neutral leader. All others around the campfire close their eyes while the lead person walks around the circle and chooses the murderer by tapping that person on the head. Once the selection is made, everyone

Then, if the murderer winks at you, you die. When you die, you sit down and slump over. If you are still “alive” and witness the murder you can call out the murderer and win the game. However, if you are wrong, you have to sit down and join the rest of the “dead.” The goal is to discover the murderer before they “kill” everyone.

Would You Rather?

“Would You Rather” is a less complicated game, but it’s classic fun and lets you find out more about your campfire companions. Each player asks a question of the person sitting opposite them. The question can either be serious or frivolous, but it always begins with “would you rather?” For instance, “would you rather have popcorn or creamed corn?” “Would you rather have a unicorn or t-rex?”

This is just a fun ice-breaker game to play for a few rounds and find out more about your camp partners.

Glow in the Dark Frisbee

Glow in the dark Frisbees are made for nights around the campsite. The only other thing you and your companions need are glow sticks. With the glow sticks around your necks or your wrists, everyone will have the ability to see their fellow campers in the darkness.

This game is best played in an open area near your site like a parking lot or a meadow. To see better in a more rugged place, use the red light on your headlamp or even the lights on your car if you can aim them into the area. Be careful not to trip and fall, and be especially careful around the fire.

Who am I?

Everyone around the campfire chooses someone from real life or fiction. Superheroes, cartoon characters, celebrities, historical characters, and politicians are all fair game. The key is to choose a person or character that others have a good chance of guessing.

Then, each person writes down the name of the person – real or fictitious – on a post-it note and places it on the back of another player. That player has no idea who they are, and figuring that out becomes the goal of the game. Players do this by asking others questions to try and guess who they are.
