This event, a collaboration with numerous esteemed community partners, promises to be a pivotal resource for Inland Empire residents, offering legal and family emergency services complemented by an atmosphere of music, food, games, and raffles

Vanessa Perez, Executive Director of TFCF, emphasized the event’s significance, “We’re offering legal services for people with an adverse background and criminal history

Record sealing and rental payment assistance will be some of the main resources offered ” She further clarified, “Record sealing is when your record is completely c l e a r e d F o r e x a m p l e , i f y o u g e t a n expungement, sometimes convictions will still appear, but record sealing ensures that no convictions are retrieved from a background check when applying for a job ”

Kim Carter, TFCF founder, and ambassador, underscored the importance of such services, saying, “It’s vital because it offers people a chance at economic empowerment and expanded educational opportunities and employment We all make mistakes, and once they are rectified, it’s essential to let individuals move forward ” S p e a k i n g f r o m p e r s o n a l e x p e r i e n c e , Carter added, “In 1994, I couldn’t get a job a t p l a c e s l i k e J a c k i n t h e B o x o r McDonald’s because of my background Today, some of those organizations that once denied me employment now contract with me because I’m in a leadership position ”

The Community Action, Fair, and Legal Clinic will feature on-site legal representatives to assist with record sealing, SB 731 petition-based expungement, family law, and other criminal defense services

On Sunday, August 13, 2023, at approximately 4:37 a m , a Rialto Police patrol officer was driving east on Rialto Avenue, east of Spruce Street in a marked police vehicle The officer drove over an unknown object in the middle of the roadway and immediately turned around to investigate The officer discovered it was a pedestrian who was deceased The pedestrian was later identified as DeAngelo Banks Physical evidence located at the scene indicates Banks had been previously struck and killed by at least one vehicle before the officer ’s contact The Rialto Police Department requested the California Highway Patrol respond to assist in this investigation

California Highway Patrol and the Rialto Police Department’s Major Accident Investigation Team responded and conducted two separate investiga- tions Investigators recovered evidence at the scene, and video footage information indicates Banks was walking eastbound in the lanes of traffic on Rialto Avenue Video footage from properties nearby the incident revealed a vehicle of interest driving eastbound on Rialto Avenue toward Banks prior to him being struck The investigation is in progress, and efforts to locate this vehicle are ongoing Therefore, at this time details on the suspect vehicle are being kept confidential

Suspect Ar r ested and Found to be DUI Following Felony Hit & Run Traf fic Collision

On Friday, August 4, 2023, at approximately 5:23 p m , officers responded to the 1100 block of North Riverside Avenue for an unknown injury traffic collision involving a vehicle and a motorcycle

Officers arrived on scene at approximately 5:27 p m and discovered the involved vehicle had fled the incident location Rialto Fire Department personnel arrived minutes later and administered medical aid to the motorcycle rider and passenger Both victims were transported to a local hospital for treatment of major injuries

The Rialto Police Department Major Accident Investigation Team continued their investigation and identified the suspect vehicle as a red 20062010 Honda Civic

The investigation showed the vehicle was going southbound on Riverside Avenue, when it entered the two-way center turn lane to enter into a driveway

The motorcycle was northbound in the #2 lane of Riverside Avenue, when the vehicle failed to yield to the motorcyclist’s right of way causing a collision The suspect then fled the scene and left both victims laying in the roadway

Through a continual investigation, the Rialto Police Department Major Accident Investigation Team identified the suspect as, 29-year-old, Eddy Escobar, a resident of the City of Rialto

Escobar was located and taken into custody A subsequent DUI investigation was conducted and Escobar was found to be under the influence of alcohol, three times the legal limit

The vehicle used in the commission of the crime was later recovered near Escobar ’s residence in the city of Rialto

Escobar was booked into West Valley Detention Center for CVC 23153(a)-DUI Causing Injury or Death, CVC 23153(b) – DUI over 08% BAC Causing Injury or Death, and CVC 20001(b)(1)

Hit and Run Causing Injury or Death with a bail set for $500,000 Additionally, Escobar was found to have a prior conviction for DUI

The San Bernardino County District Attorney’s Office reviewed the case and filed criminal charges for the above crimes

San Ber nardino Gunpoint Robber y at Baseline Gas Station Ends in Fatal

SBPD Shooting at 8 A.M. on Aug 11

ASan Bernardino police officer fatally shot a robbery suspect after allegedly robbing a female gas station cashier at gunpoint and subsequently brandishing a firearm at the officer, according to the San Bernardino Police Department

At approximately 8:49 A M on August 11th, officers responded to multiple calls reporting an armed robbery at a Baseline and 'H' Street gas station Callers described the suspect as a 30-year-old black male with shoulder-length hair, donning a white shirt, and seen wielding a black handgun He was reportedly associated with a blue or purple Mazda parked near the fuel pumps

Upon arrival, an officer identified an individual matching the suspect's description walking away from the gas station's entrance The suspect, holding a handgun, began weaving between vehicles at the fuel is- lands Despite the officer's repeated commands to drop the weapon, the suspect allegedly raised the handgun toward the officer

In response, the officer fired two shots, striking the suspect, who dropped the firearm The suspect was taken into custody and later transported to a local hospital, where he succumbed to his injuries Two individuals from the associated Mazda were detained for questioning

The incident unfolded during a peak morning hour, with many bystanders pumping gas

SBPD PIO Sgt Chris Gray stated, "The case is still under investigation Anyone with additional information regarding this incident should contact Detective D Sawyer at 909-3845630 As standard protocol, the San Bernardino District Attorney's Office responded to the scene on the incident date and is conducting a parallel investigation ”
