Since 2008, the Stater Bros. Charities Believe Walk has donated over $4.5 million to local cancer organizations. “Half of all men and one-third of all women in the U.S. will develop cancer during their lifetimes; today about 11 million people alive in the United States have had some type of cancer. We in the Inland Empire, where the population is larger than that of 24 states, deserve the best cancer care,” said walk participant Dr. Brian W. Kwong DDS FICOI.

Dr. Kwong. After the 5K walk, participants were greeted with a Believe Walk after party at Ed Hales Park; which was filled with vendors, music, and you guessed it…more cheering. “I’m very thankful that I’m not personally affected by cancer. I’ve always done the Believe Walk because God forbid, if one of my family members or I was ever in this situation…I would hope to receive this type of support as well,” said participant Megan Perez. The Believe Walk not only rec-

ognizes those who are currently undergoing cancer treatment, but also recognizes the survivors and the fighters that the community has lost along the way. “I walk to make a difference in the lives of those who can’t walk today and to help raise funds to find a cure. I have been doing this walk in memory of my beautiful mother Eloise Lopez since 2011,” said participant Denise Sandoval. For more information, visit www.believeinlandempire.com.

3 people gather on Friday the 13th at the Travers mansion in New York for the reading of Josiah’s will, which is a wall chart rendered in the form of a rebus (a part word, part drawing puzzle) that almost defies solution. Instead of designating an heir, it offers the estate to anyone who can solve the will! The lights keep going out and

people keep getting murdered. The audience will have a ball trying to untangle the puzzle faster than the hapless characters. By the final act, revelations are exploding as surprise piles upon surprise and gasps alternate with howls of laughter. Show dates Oct. 20 - Nov. 4. Written by Monk Ferris; directed by Sandra Cordasco.

An open letter to 1st Ward SB residents 2) Like most of us, I have taken out three (3) personal loans throughout my entire lifetime: Auto, School and a Home loan. My autos are paid in full, my college school loans have been paid for more than 30 years and my home loan is in good standing and on schedule to be paid in full in 2034.

Guest Op-Ed by San Bernardino 1st Ward Council Candidate Gil Botello Dear 1st Ward Residents: I am writing in response to the recent false and desperate mailer by my opponent who has broken his promise to campaign fairly and follow the law. 1) My opponent lied. I come from a good, honest hardworking 4th generation 1st Ward Family and I have NEVER been arrested. In fact, I am supported and endorsed by the San Bernardino Police Officers Association (SBPOA) and the International Association of Firefighters (IAFF – Local 935). I respect law enforcement and with your continued support, I will join with First Responders for the betterment of our Ward and our great City.

3) During the economic downturn and national mortgage crisis of ’08, I was temporarily unemployed and feared losing my Family Home. I had two choices: lose my Home or fight to keep what had been in my Family for a generation. I am a fighter so I asked a Federal Court Judge for some breathing room. I was granted the time I needed, caught up on my payments and kept my Family Home and I am proud of that decision because it allowed me to stay in the home that I love, the community I grew up in and I was able to meet ALL of my financial responsibilities and move on with my life! I agree with the statement that “as they go low, we go high, so I wanted to address these three points in an open and transparent letter with you, my friends, family, neighbors and fellow 1st Ward Residents because character and the truth matters; and, hiding behind a shady campaign mailer and trying to cheat by damaging my reputation with false allegations is not good for our Ward and certainly not good for our City. I thank you for your continued support and respectfully ask you for your vote on November 6th!

Only one man is right for Colton Mayor

It’s time for Colton voters to once again choose a Mayor to lead the city during these extremely challenging times. Only one man has the maturity, experience and integrity to move the city forward.

That man is Frank Navarro. A long time resident, former law enforcement officer, business owner, veteran and current council member. Navarro has the experience, intelligence and passion to get

things done in a professional and honest manner.

The other candidate is Mark Garcia. A security guard with no experience and a checkered past including conviction in federal court on conspiracy to distribute, multiple lawsuits against him for not paying his bills and bankruptcy. I don't believe that this is the type of person to try to lead our city, much less be our repre-

sentative.

So when you vote for Mayor, please put honesty, integrity, professionalism and experience ahead of all else when you choose! Please vote for Frank Navarro!! Randy R. Rouser Colton

Billionaires battle to get your vote

Most do not fully understand the influence of the billionaire class on our elections—many times more than Russia or China put together. Before voting in the midterms it might be wise to assess what billionaire influences you support. Liberal news outlets, which are all the major networks except Fox News, and some radio talk shows, want followers to know that the Koch brothers, Charles and David, unduly fund Republican Party candidates and causes on the right side of the political spectrum. Liberal newspapers include almost all big city newspapers and most major national news magazines. Conservative news outlets often fail to mention the Koch brothers and speak only of George Soros as the big funder for most liberal outlets. Neither mentions the other, leaving the impression that only the other is buying elections. Candidates cross and crisscross America with alms bowls in hand begging the mega-rich to buy them. First let us consider George Soros. His money, exceeding $32 billion, is targeted for influence and political power over this nation and the world—all directed to the far left side of the political spectrum and the globalization (code for world government) of the world. Prominent among his myriad of wellfunded socialist organizations are: ACORN, the Tides Foundation, Sojourners, The Quantum Fund, and Media Matters. Some of these organizations operate in other countries, as for example, The Open Society Institute (spends 425million a year on socialist causes) and Friends of the Earth, designed to build support for an international network of organizations dedicated to the environment. The Center for American Progress schedules their “experts for talk show events even developing talking points for them. The Apollo Alliance played a major role in the development of the Stimulus Bill in 2010. The American Constitution Society defends far-left interpretations of the Constitution. And, MoveOn.org organizes action alerts to followers via the Internet. No other one person, outside de-

ceased David Rockefeller’s Council on Foreign Relations (CFR) and the Trilateral Commission (organizations remaining the most powerful special interest groups in the U.S.), each also promoting the left and world government, has as many organizations as combat ready and as highly financed, as does George Soros. He hosted fundraisers for President Obama and made numerous visits to the White House. There is reason to believe that Soros greatly influenced the Obama presidency on: The Stimulus Bill, Cap and Trade, opposition to the extension of the Bush tax cuts, and banking reform.

Even now he is believed to be financing the communist/socialist/anarchist Antifa, the hundred or so demonstrations against President Trump the past two years, and the present impeach Trump and Brett Kavanaugh demonstrations. Most of the “yellers in the Kavanaugh Supreme Court hearings and those pounding and scratching the doors of the Supreme Court to force unlawful entree, just days ago, are believed to be funded by him. Still, the left side of the political spectrum fails to see this as threatening and dangerous to our republic. Now for the Koch brothers, Charles and David, who built Koch Industries making it one of the largest privately held corporation in American. Their semi-annual summits attract the candidates, who discuss policy, and likeminded donors. “Freedom Partners is the central hub for the Koch-backed network that includes groups like the activist-recruiting Americans for Prosperity, the millennial-targeting Generation Opportunity and the Hispanic-wooing Libre Initiative. Taken together, the Koch-endorsed groups make up a political machine that raises and spends more money than any other republican outlet. Democrats accuse Koch-backed groups of airing tens of millions of dollars in negative ads against incumbent Democratic lawmakers in the past and of helping the Republicans win a majority in the Senate. They also accuse them of funding the Tea Party move-

ment—a charge without foundation. As far as we can document the Koch brothers have not funded demonstrations, street violence resulting in property damage, or confrontation with police and followers do not wear face coverings to hide their identities, like Antifa.

Obviously funding candidates and founding organizations pushing ideology is the game of some billionaires on both sides. The candidate with the most money and publicity usually wins and the rich, by their funding, select contenders long before the people vote. Some may argue, since both sides are doing the same thing that it is, in this respect, fair. But both parties project the image that only the other party invites billionaire influence. This columnist, however, is unable to find the right side of the political spectrum, funding a single riot, or “yeller dragged out of a committee hearing for disruptive behavior, or mob activity in the streets blocking traffic or damaging automobiles, or driving out of restaurants conservatives (even Senator Cruz) dining with their spouses, or cornering senators in elevators threatening them if they do not change their vote , or attempting to force entree into the Supreme Court. None!! So although billionaire candidates and organizations dominate both political parties there remains quit a difference. So the question is, what billionaire buys your vote? One problem, however, is that since the media personnel haven’t themselves, as a group, voted less than 80% for a Democrat in the White House for the last 50 years, most Americans only hear about the Koch brothers as buying elections. Dr. Harold W. Pease is a syndicated columnist and an expert on the United States Constitution. He has dedicated his career to studying the writings of the Founding Fathers and applying that knowledge to current events. He taught history and political science from this perspective for over 30 years at Taft College.

Wo rd s t o T h in k Ab ou t : A sn ap sh ot o f Gr eek cu lt u r e in the city of Babylon-supposedly of a venereal disease. His successor was Ptolemy, Alexander’s General. The afore mentioned years was the time of the development of Grecian mythologies. It paralleled the concept of democracy. While the Jews developed the concept of freedom from slavery, Greeks gave us the word democracy.

G. W. Abersold, Ph.D. The country of Greece is in bad shape. It can best be described as a third world country. Or even worse. Its economy is a shamble. It owes an enormous debt to many countries. The political structure is pitiful. The infrastructure is chaotic. I was there a few years ago and the smell was filthy. A far cry from the mid-1900’s. Melbourne, Australia has a Greek population compared to Athens, Greece. Its heyday is in the past. My suggestion is that if you plan to visit there, take plenty of shots and vitamins. Now, back to the time when Greece was at the top of its glory. The classical and Hellenistic eras, 480-30 B.C.E. The days of the great Greek philosophers: Socrates, Plato (386 B.C.E.), Aristotle (384 B.C.E.), Phillip II (359 B.C.E.). Alexander the Great (356 B.C.E.) to (32 3 B.C.E.). He died

The list of mythological chaptered is almost endless. I have a list of thirty gods including Zeus, Artemis, Mercury, Hercules, plus 26 more. They each represented human tendencies-good and bad. The human application is clear with words like Narcissism and Oedipus. Currently the census places Greeks in the U.S.A. at approximately 3,000.000 (3 million) living primarily in the large urban cities: New York City, Philadelphia, Los Angeles, Chicago, etc. There are also about 91,000 men and 2500 women in the military. Perhaps the highest ranked with a Greek heritage is Admiral (4 star) James Stavridis (Ret.), formerly in charge of NATO. Religiously, most Greeks are members of the Greek Orthodox Church. All of the mid-eastern churches broke away from the Catholic Church in 1000 A.D. The basic issue was whether priests could marry. By the way. The New Testament

was written in Greek, due to Alexander the Great’s influence and Greek the language of the Roman Empire. It was decided in 367 A.D. when Athanasius set the 27 books. It was written in Greek. A professor at Redlands University, Dr. Gordon Hynes, Ph.D. proved that over 300 verses of St. Paul’s writings were plagiarized from Plato and Seneca’s writings in Greek. The prevailing language of the known world for 450 years was Greek. Many thanks to Alexander the Great. Because of the dominant language, the Patristic Fathers decided to publish the New Testament in Greek, to reach the most people. Forbes economic magazine names six (6) Greeks of among the 400 richest Americans. The six have total assets at $16 billion. Number one is John Paul DeJoria, whose net worth is $3.4 billion. Number two is John Catsimatidis whose net worth is $3 billion. Number three is Jim Davis, his net worth is $2.1 billion. Number four is George Argyros; his net worth is $1.9 billion. Number five is Michael Jaharis, whose net worth is $4.2 billion. Number six is Dean Mitropoulos has a net worth of $1.2 billion. By the way, Aristotle Onassis net worth at his death was $2.3 billion. There seems to be two basic traits that all six have. First, they started out rather poor and through their own efforts became very

wealthy. Second, all six are very generous in helping others. Mainly non-investors. I must admit that beside Pete Sampras, I am ignorant of Greeks and professional sports. A very few names are familiar. Like Al Campanis of the Dodgers. Harry Agganis with the Boston Red Sox. Clay Bellinger, Baltimore Orioles. Chris Chelios, NHL hockey. Jimmy Carson, NHL hockey. Adam Burish, NHS hockey. Andreas Chronis, NFL football. Jim Eliopulos, NFL football, Pete Calathes. Michael Bramos, basketball. When it comes to movies and entertainment, there are very few Greeks. Jennifer Aniston, Tina Fey, Bob Costas, Betty White, Telly Savalas, John Aniston. Most of them I’ve never heard of. There are three items about Greeks you’ve probably never heard about. Number one is about the New Testament. The books in it were decided on in 367 A.D. by Bishop Athanasius and a cadre of religious readers. Later Martin Luther the founder of the Protestant Reform rejected the Book of James and the Book of Revelation. Why was it written in Greek in stead of the language of Jews, Hebrew or Aramaic? Because the coverage would be too limited. Like English today, Greek was the international language. That’s the

answer. Second, English has about 460,000 words in it, according to knowledgeable grammarians. About 46,350 of them are of Greek origin. A few of them: alphabet (made up of the first two Greek letters (alpha and beta); auto, antique, Bible, life, cosmos, Philadelphia, phone, scope, telescope, Theos, thesis, zoology; Angel, poet, ballistics, plus 46,350 more or less. The third item concerns Christopher Columbus and the historical discovery by the Greeks of the Northern Americas. Columbus, according to his son was of Greek nationality NOT Italian. In 1937 a noted historian, Spyro Cateras stated that his name was really Prince Nikolas Ypsilantis and originally lived on the Greek island of Chios. Other historians verify that the Mayans have many Greek words in their language. Also, when Alexander the Great died in 323 B.C.E., his General was Ptolemy who had maps that the world was round and there were lands west of Great Britain, Iceland, Greenland, Newfoundland. Dr. Minas Tsikritsis and Professor Mariolaik both state that Greek explorers discovered the North American lands in around 87 A.D. Amen. Selah. So be it.

Symphony celebrates 90th performance year

I

n honor of the start of their 90th concert season, the San Bernardino Symphony Orchestra has scheduled an anniversary gala, a concert featuring world premier music, and a historical retrospective reception... all on October 27th! The evening will begin with a black tie anniversary dinner party to be held at 5 p.m. under the giant tent alongside the California Theatre. Guests will enjoy a delicious plated dinner and inspiring musical performances by some very special guests, chat with past conductors and performers, bid on silent auction items, and hear all about the up-coming concert. Then at 7:30 p.m. immediately following the gala, the concert will begin. This historic occasion will include the premiere of Emmy award-winning composer John Christopher Wineglass’ Voices of the West, a new work commissioned by the San Bernardino Symphony Orchestra to celebrate the region whose name they proudly bear. This inspirational composition celebrates those things that most positively distinguish San Bernardino and the diverse peoples who established the region. With music inspired by the bird songs of the Serrano Indians, hymns of the Mormon pioneers, Spanish folk tunes, and African American spirituals, this beautiful piece of music will also pay tribute to the brave first responders, and to the region's unique geogra-

phy, from the majesty of the local mountains and vistas, to the built environment that provides homes and commerce to millions. “Voices of the West fulfills a long-held dream,” said SBSO Board President Dean McVay. “We have hoped to be in the position to create something meaningful and important about the region for years and now, through the generosity of many civic-minded arts lovers* this dream is coming true.” The widely renowned Los Robles Master Chorale, under the leadership of Dr. Lesley Leighton, will join the San Bernardino Symphony Orchestra for Voices of the West. You will be bidding on a lien, not on the property itself. Placing the highest bid at a trustee auction does not automatically entitle you to free and clear ownership of the property. You should also be aware that the lien being auctioned off may be a junior lien. If you are the highest bidder at the auction, you are or may be responsible for paying off all liens senior to the lien being auctioned off, before you can receive clear title to the property. You are encouraged to investigate the existence, priority, and size of outstanding liens that may exist on this property by contacting the county recorder's office or a title insurance company, either of which may charge you a fee for this information. If you consult either of these resources, you should be aware that the same lender may hold more than one mortgage or deed of trust on the property. NOTICE TO PROPERTY OWNER: The sale date shown on this notice of sale may be postponed one or more times by the mortgagee, beneficiary, trustee, or a court, pursuant to Section 2924g of the California Civil Code. The law requires that information about trustee sale postponements be made available to you and to the public, as a courtesy to those not present at the sale. If you wish to learn whether your sale date has been postponed, and, if applicable, the rescheduled time and date for the sale of this property, you may call 916939-0772 for information regarding the trustee's sale or visit this Internet Web site http://www.qualityloan.com, using the file number assigned to this foreclosure by the Trustee: CA-15-697700-BF.
