BLOG INSPIRATION
A SHADED VIEW ON FASHION
Our group chose ‘A Shaded View Of Fashion’ as our blog inspiration because is contrasts with our magazine. We adopted her personal style of writing with brief text and also recreated her introduction (we changed “Dear shaded viewers” to “Dear readers”). We also adopted the blog layout and similar fonts and titles of the blog posts. Her posts are concise but descriptive with emphasis on the images rather than the text and we used this to influence our blog post. Diane Pernet’s blog is sophisticated and prestigious and focuses on fashion shoots and brands, similar to Harpers Bazaar, however ASVOF is a contrast of the magazine, an element of our photo shoot. ASVOF experiments with color, lighting, mood and is genre bending whereas Harpers Bazaar is editorial, brand endorsing and commercial with a classic standard structure and style.

RED RIDING HOOD PHOTO SHOOT 2015
Dear readers, I wanted to focus on contrast, paradox and duality, the lighter and darker to reveal different aspects of her personality. She is a complex woman torn between her innocence and her sin - she becomes one with the wolf. In these images, she is dominant, powerful and feminine but also scared, vulnerable and guilt. This is a fairytale of Jekyll and Hyde‌ Images by Francesco Francaviglia Styling by Tommaso Del Vecchio Submitted by Group 5
MAGAZINE INSPIRATION
We chose Harper’s Bazaar as our inspiration because we wanted our photos to looks like a professional editorial style photo shoot. Like A Shaded View Of Fashion, Harper’s Bazaar is also prestigious. But unlike the blog, the magazine is commercial with a strong focus on brands, fashion trends, beauty trends and details such as textures, fabrics and colors. To connect our photo shoot with the magazine, we created three collages to recreated the trend collage pages. One demonstrates the red dress as a trend with runway examples, the second one is focused on a specific trend (fur) and the third deconstructs our models make up and compares the trends with celebrities. These pages are staple sections in Harper’s Bazaar and our recreations with our own fashion and beauty connected the type of media.

CULTURAL INFLUENCES
Dr. Jekyll and Mr. Hyde by Robert Lewis. Stevenson
Dr. Jekyll and Mr. Hyde (1886) is a famous novella about dual personalities and inner conflict. We wanted to represent the themes of this novel.
Film Noir and the femme fatale
‘Relativity’ by M.C Escher
The melodramatic female characters of Film Noir appear glamorous, dominant and powerful but act fragile, weak and submissive.
M.C Escher was a graphic artist whose most famous work was a lithograph print ‘Relativity’ 1953, which is a visual paradox. The never ending staircase is a metaphor for both paradox and our characters journey.
