IEEE CS Special Technical Community on eGovernment Members to Present Tutorials at ITMC2,014 LOS ALAMITOS, Calif., 20 May 2014 -- Two members of the IEEE Computer Society Special Technical Community on eGovernment (e-Gov STC) will be holding tutorials on technology trends for open and smart government at the IEEE International Technology Management Conference on 12 June in Chicago. Carlos JimĂŠnez, founder of the IEEE e-Government initiative and chair of the IEEE Computer Society e-Gov STC, as well as head of strategy of IEEE Spain, will lead a tutorial on Open and Smart Government. In addition, Luis Teran, assistant doctor at the Information Systems Research Group at the University of Fribourg in Switzerland and an e-Gov STC board member, will discuss the SmartParticipation platform. Tom Schenk, director of analytics and chief data officer of the Chicago City Council, will also talk a about Chicago's open government initiatives. "This a very good opportunity to know more about the link between open government and smart cities from a strategic, managerial, and technological view, including topics such as big government data or the cases of Chicago's open-source SmartData Platform, the City of Chicago data portal, or the Chicago's online data dictionary, which is an open source project to map the city's metadata," said JimĂŠnez.
