Special Technical Communities Now Available to Increase Networking Opportunities LOS ALAMITOS, Calif., 22 March 2014 -- In an effort to provide more networking alternatives, IEEE Computer Society is now offering technology professionals the opportunity to select from among 13 Special Technical Communities (STCs) to join. These self-sustaining online communities are intended to unite computing professionals (including students) who share common technical, geographic, career, or other interests. Participation in the Special Technical Communities is also intended to help drive new technologies and create knowledge in the particular field of interest. "These communities provide a meeting place to have discussions, develop materials, and share information about a focused topic," said Special Technical Communities Chair Christian Timmerer, an assistant professor at Alpen-AdriaUniversität Klagenfurt, Austria.
