BUILD YOUR OWN INTERNSHIP

In 2021 the Entrepreneurship Programme organised the 2nd edition of Build Your Own Internship – an immersive and interactive 10-weeks internship preparing participants for real-life situations through providing a comprehensive mix of theoretical and practical know-how.

This initiative started beginning of June with a very diversified pool of 15 Bachelor and Master students from all the three faculties of the University of Luxembourg.

DEVELOP – BUILD YOUR OWN INTERNSHIP All of our students need to do an internship and with the Covid crisis, we could not organise this as we used to. I thought it would be a good experience for our students to participate in this course: they are really taken out of the academic comfort zone and learn very useful skills like communication, working in a group, etc. They also got to experience new type of interaction which takes place between the mentor and the group and is not like the teacher-student relationship but more of a professional interaction. For our students from Humanities tracks, it was the whole new universe: to do a financial report, market study - this is very new to them. I think it’s one step closer to the real life and that’s what university should provide.

After learning the foundation for entrepreneurship with 8 self-paced workshops, participants were working on their business ideas supported by a number of great mentors and presented their pitch to the jury in the end of the course.

Build Your Own Internship is an online course which brings students of the University of Luxembourg 10 ECTS towards their degree.

The first edition of Build Your Own Internship was created as a response to many cancelled summer internships in 2020 due to the pandemic.
