Mr Enfield: He's a old men that is friend of Mr Utterson. Dr Jekyll: He's the protagonist of this story. He's middle-aged man who works as a doctor because he is very interested in chemistry. He comes from a well-known family and he is rich. He is a generous person because he gives money to poor people. He's also a good friend. He's tall and has blonde hair. Mr Hyde: He's the evil part of Henry Jekyll. He's violent, destructive, bad and mad. He's younger than Jekyll. He's short and has a very big chin. He looks evil and deformed. Dr Lanyon: He's a friend of Mr Utterson and Dr Jekyll. He's an old man who is interested in chemistry. He's the only person that have seen the transformation of Jekyll. Mr Utterson: He's a lawyer and a friend of Jekyll and Lanyon. He's a very good person who cares about his friends. He's a curious and intelligent person. He's tall and has brown hair. Poole: He's the butler of Jekyll. He helps Utterson providing him with information about Jekyll. He's old, quiet and polite.

SUMMARY Chapter 1 This story starts one night when Mr Hyde collide with a girl and then he jumped into the girl's body. Mr Enfield saw it and he and the girl's family order him to pay a hundred pounds in exchange for not go to the police. Mr Endfield talk with Mr Utterson of this and also add that the signature of the cheque that Mr Hyde gave them is different to his name. Chapter 2 Mr Utterson starts to worried about what Mr Enfield has told because the name of Mr Hyde seems familiar to him. He reads the will of Dr Jekyll that says that all possesions will go to Mr Hyde in case of death or dissaparence. Mr Utterson was worried about his friend Jekyll so he goes to visit Dr Lanyon, an old friend of Dr Jekyll, but he doesn't obtain information about Hyde. Mr Utterson go many times to the old door, to wait for Mr Hyde. One night they both met and Mr Utterson talk with Mr Hyde. As Mr Endfield he also thinks that Mr Hyde has “a evil look”. Chapter 3 Mr Utterson goes to visit Jekyll's house. There we talk with Poole, his butler, and he says that Dr Jekyll really trust in Mr Hyde and that he has given the key of his laboratory. Mr Utterson thinks that Jekyll is in trouble. Two weeks later Jekyll invited Utterson for dinner and he ask Jekyll about his will. Jekyll says that he is in control and he can get rid of Hyde. After that, one night, there was a crime. An old maid saw it. Mr Hyde kill a man by hitting


him with his cane and suddenly he jumped on his body. Chapter 4 After that, the maid call to the police which starts an investigation of the crime. When they were examining the body they found a half of the cane and an closed envelope with the name of Mr Utterson. The police give the envelope to Mr Utterson. He goes to the police station because he wanted to see the man. He recognized the man, who was one of his clients, and also the cane, wich Utterson gave to Jekyll many years ago. The police and Mr Utterson go to Hyde's house, where an old woman opened the door. She tell them that Mr Hyde had very irregulars habits. Both of them examinate the house and they found a chequebook burned in the fireplace and the other part of the broken cane. After that, Utterson went to Jekyll's house. When Utterson saw him Jekyll looked very ill. Chapter 5 Utterson and Jekyll were talking and Jekyll says Utterson that he will never meet again Hyde and gave him a letter of Hyde which says that he scape. Then Utterson invited to his house to Mr Guest, which analize the letter of Mr Hyde. He says that the handwriting of Jekyll and the handwriting of Hyde were almost identical. Chapter 6 The time passed and Mr Utterson stop worrying about Jekyll and Hyde. Dr Jekyll also changes. He start to pass time with his friends, gave money to the poor people again and became very religious. One week, Utterson went to Jekyll's house three times, but he not enter because Jekyll was ill. Mr Utterson was worried about Jekyll again so he went to visit Dr Lanyon. Lanyon looks very ill and terrified and he said to Utterson that he will dead in a few weeks. Whe Utterson ask him about Jekyll he turns very angry, so Utterson sends a letter to Jekyll asking why he stays at home and why he and Lanyon aren't friends. Jekyll send a answer saying that he must to be alone and that is a bad person and also says that Lanyon is right when he says that they must never met. Mr Utterson was very surprised. After the Lanyon's funeral, Mr Utterson opened a letter from him. Inside there was another letter that says “Read the letter inside only after the death or disappearance of Dr Henry Jekyll.� Chapter 7 One day, Poole go visit Mr Utterson and he seems very frightened. Poole and Utterson go to Jekyll's house. When they arrived all the servants were in the hall because they also were very frightened. Then they go the door of the laboratory. Pooles knocked at the door and a strange voice come inside the laboratory. The voice doesn't seemed like Dr Jekyll's voice so Poole begin to think that someone has killed his master. Chapter 8 Poole starts to tell Utterson about how Jekyll order him to bought a chemical everyday. Poole also tell him that once he saw Mr Hyde in the laboratory. After they talk, they both


decide to enter inside the laboratory to know what is happened to Jekyll. Chapter 9 When they achieve to open the door we found the Edwards Hyde's body laying on the floor. They think that it can be a suicide. Then they search Jekyll, but they don't found him. Utterson founds an envelope in the table of the laboratory in which there are a will, that says that all the possesion of Jekyll will be of Utterson, a note, that tells Utterson that reads the letter of Lanyon and the Jekyll's confession. Utterson goes to his house to read the letters. Chapter 10 Mr Utterson reads the letter of Lanyon that says that Jekyll send a letter to Lanyon asking him for go to his house, pick some things and then give them to a messenger. The messenger was Hyde, and when arrived to Lanyon's house he took the chemicals, prepared it and drank them. Mr Hyde was transformed into Dr Jekyll in front of Lanyon. He was terrified. Chapter 11 After read the Lanyon letter, Utterson started to read the Jekyll's confession letter. In the start of the confession Jekyll explains that he had two personalities, one good and one bad, and that he wants to separate them in two different bodies. He bought many chemicals and make a potion. Suddenly he drank it and transformed into Mr Hyde. After some time, Mr Hyde was turning stronger than Jekyll, and one day, he went to bed as Jekyll, but when he woke up, he was Hyde. Chapter 12 After that occurs he was very shocked. He decides to not become Hyde anymore. For two months everything was fine, but then he wants to be Hyde again. That night he murdered Danvers Carew. After that, when Jekyll was sitting on a bench of the park he started to turn into Hyde. That day he had to ask for help to Lanyon. From that time, Jekyll turned into Hyde very frecuently and Jekyll can't found more potion to the transformations. Jekyll decided to wrote this letter for Utterson to know the truth.

PERSONAL OPINION I liked the book and I think is very interesting because you don't know what is happening until the end. Because of it is very intriguing. My favourite character is Mr Utterson because I think he is a very good person and he is very polite. In general I liked a lot the story.
