The company – The concept Swiss quality – Global innovation The Swiss startup company “5212 GmbH” was founded in 2004 and has its roots in the idyllic Appenzell. The company provides solutions for mobile power supply and gets rid of the problem of empty batteries in cell phones, mp3 players, and digital cameras. Today the sakku solar bag provides the solution and does so in a stylish way. The sakku solar bag was the first lifestyle messenger bag with an integrated flexible solar cell, a Swiss innovation. Equipped with an extremely flat and light solar panel, the sakku.panel, the solar bag charges different gadgets such as cell‐phones, GPS trackers or portable music players either directly or through the integrated battery pack – “Out of Battery”, is history.

This is how it works. Friendly and Sustainable The principle is simple, and it is equally easy to handle the bag. The below image illustrates the sakku technology. There are two options available.
Option „akku“ (1) The solar panel catches the sunrays efficiently. (2) The solar energy gets transmitted and charges the included battery pack (sakku.charger); electricity is available immediately. (3) Whenever and wherever needed, all kinds of electronic devices can be supplied with power and are fully charged in between 1.5 and 2.5 hours – at night too.
Option „direct“ The option „direct“ works with the same principle as the option “akku”; the difference is that this option does not include the sakku.charger battery pack: the gadgets are charged directly whenever there is sufficient sunshine.

3 Models For Masterminds and Pioneers The sakku solar bag is available in 3 different styles – each one has its very own character. The bags are produced in Switzerland with rigor quality controls, which is one of your advantages when choosing sakku over its competitors. ‐ Messenger Bag
The sakku.traveller is just like his owner – unique. Made of
recycled sailcloth, it is often the center of attraction: people stop, and observe it curiously. The sakku.traveller is a bit bigger than the ordinary messenger bag in order to fit more
when necessary; it’s got big inside pockets and every bag has a stamp indicating where the sailcloth was once sailing, and has therefore his own story. Being equipped with the biggest solar panel, this bag is our flagship.
‐ Business Elegance
The sakku.worker is perfect for urban business life. People who do not like compromises will love the sakku.worker. It is sleek and elegant, and matches with all kinds of outfits, no matter if it’s a suit or summer dress. The worker edition is smaller and is made of resistant, black cordura material. Furthermore it comes with an extra large belt, for additional carrying comfort. A 17“ laptop fits perfectly; which is obviously no coincidence.
‐ Company for your free time The sakku.buddy is the newest generation of our sakku collection. It’s friendly and social, and your loyal company for everyday. The sakku.buddy is made of recycled sunshades of balconies and terraces, which gives it a cool 70’s look – every sakku.buddy is a unicum. It features the same solar power as the sakku.worker and is moisture proof. By the way: in Swiss‐German “Badi” is pronounced as “Buddy” and means swimming place; you get the message…

Good to know. Quality ‐ impeccable Quality stands at the heart of our company’s philosophy. The sakku solar bags get produced exclusively by Swiss SME’s; technical components come from sustainably responsible manufactures from abroad and are put together in sheltered workshops for disabled people. Our rigor quality control makes sure that every sakku is checked before it gets sent out, and the sakku.warranty assures its owner our personalized service: immediate personal assistance for questions or problems of any kind, and replacement in case of defect. By the way, every sakku has the built‐in sakku.protection: a special cushion which protects laptops and other breakable objects inside the sakku.
Design – sustainable Sakku customers are not only fashionable, they also care about the environment; they may wear the sakku solar bag with a good conscience. The integrated solar panel is built to work for about 20 years and produces during its lifetime by far more energy than was originally used for its production. Furthermore, should the solar panel not be used anymore one day, sakku takes them back and integrates them into a small solar farm where it will produce electricity until the end of its days. Our efforts for a more sustainable future have brought us a nomination for the Volvo Eco Design Award in 2008.
Compatibility – universal Both the „direct“ and the “akku” option guarantee full compatibility. The option “direct” comes with a 12V car power plug which is a global standard, and for almost any possible gadget car chargers are available today. The option “akku” includes the sakku.charger battery pack, which includes 9 power tips for all kinds of cell phones, including a universal mini‐USB plug. Furthermore, any device can be charged via its standard USB plug if the cable is available. Last but not least, should the sun not shine one day, the sakku.charger may be pre‐charged at home or in the car. Whether it’s a cell phone, an MP3 player, a PDA or a GPS finder: charging is no problem.

Supported Devices The sakku solar bag works best with cell phones. Yet, most small electronic devices may be charged; below you can see a selection of types of devices that work. Nevertheless it can happen that certain devices do not get charged, this is mainly due to protections from the manufacturers. Furthermore, with the option „direct“, sufficient sunshine is necessary. The sakku is not meant to charge laptops or other bigger electronic devices, as the solar panels do not produce a sufficient amount of energy.
