1 The River UNAC Location: 10 km east from Kulen Vakuf, nothwest Bosnia & Herzegovina Spring: Near Drvar (Gornja Sanica) Characteristics: Mountain river, ca 30 m wide and 0.5 - 4 (1-2) m deep The River Unac is a perfect specimen of a mountain river, in that it has a great water capacity and flow rate. It merges into river Una near Martin Brod. Upstream of the mouth of river Unac is the best fly fishing location under the special fishing regime. At this part Unac is 30m wide and 0.5-4m deep. Unac is extremely rich in large rainbow and brown trout. Many of the fish caught weigh between 2 and 6 kg, although some fish caught in whirlpools can often weigh up to 10 kg. Besides trout in Unac graylings can be caught. Trout can be caught using dry flies, nymphs and streamers. Fishermen should note that the fish are active all day on a dry fly and that Unac is famous for the extraordinary number of fish caught in the early evening.

2 The River UNA Best part for fly fishing: Between Kulen Vakuf and Martin Brod ca. 10 km long Spring: near Donja Suvaja and Donji Lapac in Croatia Characteristics: mountain river, 25-60 m wide and 0.5-2.5 m deep Una is mountain river with plentiful rapids, cascades and waterfalls. Una got it’s name during golden age of Roman Empire. The story tells us that when the first Romans saw it they said UNA – that means THE ONLY ONE. It really was, and is a precious stone among the worlds natural inheritance. Every single fish caught is a experience for itself because all of the species are native and absolutely wild, and not rearly extremely large. It offers the best conditions for fly fishing using dry fly, nymphs and streamers. Resort located in the center of Kulen Vakuf, 2 km downstream and 200 m upstreams from the main bridge in place is extremely rich with large species of brown trout and graylings.

3 The River RIBNIK Location: North-west region of Bosnia & Herzegovina Spring: Gornji Ribnik, some 20km from Kljuc Characteristics: Medium mountain river, ca 30 (20) m wide and 50-80 (0,6-1,5m) cm deep This is a true chalkstream, which is a real challenge, especially on the autumn when the clear water is low and the fish is shy. Ribnik is inhabited by grayling and brown trout. Very accessible for fly fishing. Hence it is very shallow you can walk through it at almost every place. Ribnik is specialy rich in grayling which is very wild and extremly slick and makes 70% of all inhabitant. Please notice that Ribnik shall offer to all experienced fishermen more than 50 actions a day, and could be recomended to all that makes first fly fishing steps. The Ribnik river springs from under the Srnetica mountain near the vilage Gornji Ribnik. It springs from two strong springs whose volumes varies between 1.5 - 2.5 m3/s. Ribnik’s spring is in small town Gornji Ribnik (some 15 minutes drive from Kljuc) and is inhabited by grayling and brown trout. Ribnik is 4800m long and is very accessible for fly fishing, wide 30m, deep 50-80cm and because it is so shallow, fishermen can easily cross the river at most locations. All locations on the river Ribnik feature either FLY ONLY or CATCH & REALESE regimes. The River Ribnik is especially rich in wild grayling, which make up 70% of the fish population. It is also rich in capital size grayling which is extremely wild and cunning. It can be caught using dry flies and nymphs - the fish are active all day on a dry fly. Ribnik generally offers experienced fishermen more than 50 actions a day, and provides a good place to learn how to fly fish.The smaller spring is shorter than the other (100 m) and much smaller based on the volume of water. Both springs joins, from where the river has characteristics of a mountain river. The trough oh the river is covered with the pebble and rocks. Somewhere, the rocks reach size of a half of a meter. In the Ribnik vilage, the river does not have characteristics of a mountain river any more. The banks are soil, and water plants cover more than 50% of the trough oh the river. In these river plants live huge number of shrimp that are the basic source of food of grayling and brown trout. 8

4 The River PLIVA Location: Northwest of Bosnia and Herzegovina Spring: Šipovo, village Pljeva Characteristics: Mountain river, 25 m wide, 1-3 m deep The river with extraordinary color, purity and diversity of underwater world species, is surely one of the most beautiful fly fishing rivers in Europe. Pliva’s spring is in village Pljeva, 6 km upstream from Šipovo. Some of the most beautiful fly fishing in the country is along a 5 km portion of the river which runs from this spring to the center of the small town of Šipovo. The river together with the entire Pliva Region makes special and untouched natural beauty and represents a diamond of the world’s natural inheritance that will take your breath away. The river Pliva is very rich in Pliva’s native grayling that reaches 60 cm in length. Although you can easily see a school of graylings, catching a grayling often tires even experienced fisherman because Pliva’s clear water and plentiful nutrition allow the fish to grow extremely strong. For that reason, fly fisherman from around the world covet Pliva’s graylings as significant trophies. The wild nature of these fish in addition to the extra thin leader (0.10 - 0.12) required to catch them could lead to a lengthy fight lasting more than an hour. However, your patience and efforts will be rewarded. Many experienced team recommends Pliva to all fly fishermen ready for a challenge and a noble duel with Pliva’s grayling. Let us be immodest and claim that fly fishing fans highly respect the river Pliva because they find it a challenge for proved masters of magic called fly fishing. 10

5 The River KLOKOT Location: Northwest of Bosnia and Herzegovina Spring: Bihac, village Klokot Characteristics: Speed flow river, 25 m wide, 1-3 m deep The Klokot is a tributary to the Una. The 5-kilometre long stretch of water is very beautiful and particularly suited for fly-fishing enthusiasts. There are large populations of grayling, brown trout, rainbow trout and pike and it is not uncommon to hook a brown trout weighing up to 5 kilos.The river is up to four meters deep. The most attractive part of our fishing district is close to the river spring, and therefore, it is a cold and clean water with a lot of oxygen, a real paradise for grayling and brown trout. The policy of the management is to eliminate the rainbow trout from the river, as it is not autohtonos species of the river, and at the same time , to enrich the water with the grayling and the brown trout by continuous fish ranching.

6 The River SANICA Location: North-west region of Bosnia and Herzegovina Spring: Bootom of mountain GrmeÄ? Characteristics: Medium mountain river,10-25 m wide and 0.50 - 4 m deep The dryfly fisherman´s dream river, where the grayling is likely to rise for the dryfly all season long. Sanica is left tributary to the river Sana, 12 km from Kljuc. Very accessible for fly fishing and rich in grayling that makes 70% of total fish inhabitant, mostly longer than 45 cm and not rarly 60 cm. Besides grayling you can find brown trout. It is possible to catch a fish using dry fly and nymphs. Notice that fish is very active all day long especialy on dry fly.

7 The River KRUŠNICA Location: Northwest area of Bosnia and Herzegovina Spring: Area of Bosanska Krupa Characteristics: Mountain river, 20 m wide, average 1-4 m deep Another representative of absolutely clean mountain rivers, with emerald green drinkable water and spring that can not be compared with anything in the region. Enormous capacity, with 120 m deep water at the spring makes this beauty unseen. The river itself is 6,5 km, with fly fishing area of 3 km. Temperature of water at spring is 8-9 C° up to 12-13 C° at the conclusion to river Una. This area offers the best conditions for fly fishing using dry fly and nymphs, but streamers are forbidden. Krusnica River is rich in grayling and brown trout. Many of grayling caught were about 40 cm long, while for brown trout you can expect specimens up to 5 kg. Krusnica is one of few rivers on which fly fishing season lasts from May to November.

8 The River NERETVA Location: Southwest region of Bosnia and Herzegovina Spring: 1227 m above sea level, Jabuka Mountain Characteristics: Mountain river, 20-30 m wide, average 1-5 m deep Neretva River is the richest water tributary to the Adriatic Sea, and with its length of 230 km makes one of the most beautiful fly fishing valleys in the world. Clean and drinkable water hides in its deeps an endemic specimen of fish—softmouth trout, lat. Salmo obtusirostris, which makes Neretva River unique in the world. There are also rich population of grayling, brown trout and marble trout lat. Salmo marmoratus cuvier 1817. Neretva River together with its many tributaries makes the strongest erosion system at Balkan Peninsula, and its continues carving soil intensively. Fly fishing area is 4 km long, located in Glavaticevo only 30 minute drive from M-17 road and some 80 minute drive from Sarajevo Airport. Area is surrounded with 7 mountain tops over 2000 m above sea level with influence of both Mediterranean and continental climate. Neretva River springs are on west side of Cemerno pass and south side of Zelengora mountain. Amassing area offers the best conditions for fly fishing using dry fly, nymphs and streamers.
