Welcome Message Welcome to Egypt, Land of Legends and mystery Dear IFMSA friends, It’s an honor to welcome back all our friends to our beloved country. Organizing an EMR means giving something back to our region, enabling us to connect to other NMOs, and developing friendships that last for a lifetime.

The OC is highly motivated, got the necessary experience, so let us show you what our country has to offer for the environment of this event and what our organization has to offer for the content of this meeting. IFMSA-Egypt, an organization founded 43 years ago, has a broad history of organizing IFMSA events: the AM in1980, the Exchange Meeting (later called March Meeting) in 1996, the AM in 1998, the EMR1, AM in 2005 , the EMR5 in 2009 & most recently 1st and 2nd SRTs . All events that marked the IFMSA history demonstrate the experience our organization Sincerely, has gained in the past years. Pre - EMR A well-organized Pre-EMR is a pillar for a productive successful EMR; that’s why our OC have exerted all the efforts to ensure a Pre-EMR with the quality that meets all the participants’ expectations. The Pre-EMR will last from 3rd – 6th February, provided that the 3nd of February is the Arrival Day and the 6th is the opening ceremony of the EMR. The Venue & Accommodation for the Pre-EMR will be Cataract Pyramids resort; the same venue & accommodation for the EMR. And our OC will be ready to launch up to 7 Parallel Workshops with the capacity of 150 participants with the maximum Registration Fees of 150 Dollars per person. 7 air-conditioned Meeting rooms are available for the Pre-EMR with chairs and supplied with AV-equipment and wireless internet access. Also it is available to have sessions on by Swimming pools, Roof tops and on the Gardens open air.

Theme Event Universal Health Coverage “I regard universal health coverage as the single most powerful concept that public health has to offer. It is inclusive. It unifies services and delivers them in a comprehensive and integrated way, based on primary health care.” Dr Margaret Chan, WHO Director-General
What is universal coverage ? Universal coverage (UC), or universal health coverage (UHC), is defined as ensuring that all people can use the primitive, preventive, curative, rehabilitative and palliative health services they need, of sufficient quality to be effective, while also ensuring that the use of these services does not expose the user to financial hardship. This definition of UHC embodies three related objectives: • Equity in access to health services - those who need the services should get them, not only those who can pay for them; • Quality of health services is good enough to improve the health of those receiving services; and Ensuring that the cost of using care does not put people at risk of financial hardship. Universal coverage brings the hope of better health and protection from poverty for hundreds of millions of people - especially those in the most vulnerable situations. The challenges and opportunities for universal health coverage have been found to be common to all countries in the Eastern Mediterranean region Region, although to varying extent, which reflects the need for efforts to enhance universal health care across the entire Region. Universal health coverage means that all people have access to good quality health care, without running the risk of financial ruin. This means without having to pay from their own pocket excessive amounts that would either limit their spending on other essential services or push them into poverty. Universal health coverage focuses on all types of health service and not just treatment.

Visa Information According to the last update from the Egyptian Authorities on External & Internal Affairs: Citizens of the following countries are required to be in Possession of a Pre-Arrival Visa: • Algeria • Iran • Iraq • Lebanon • Libya • Morocco • Palestine • Tunisia Citizens of the following countries may Enter Egypt for a period of no longer than 3 Months Without Applying for a Visa: • Bahrain • Jordan • Kuwait • Oman • Saudi Arabia • United Arab Emirates • Yemen Normally, a visa application can take about 7-15 days, but in some cases it may take up to 4 weeks. We’ll be having the Egyptian Authorities on External & Internal Affairs involved in order to ensure a smooth visa-issuing process. In addition to providing Official Invitation Letters to all the applicants approved by their respective NMO Presidents.

Also it is worth mentioning that the“Visa Coordinator” Member in the OC is responsible of providing all the registered delegates with all the information and assistance they will need in order to apply and issue the visa.

Transportation Our budget is designed to offer transportation Free Of Charge on the arrival day of the Pre EMR (Feb 3rd), the arrival day of the EMR (Feb 6th) and the departure day of the EMR (Feb 10th), from and to Cairo International Airport, every 30 – 60 minutes according to the follow of arrivals. Also the OC will be ready to provide transportation from and to other Egyptian International Airports upon prior request Cairo International Airport recieves more than 170 flights perday from more than 40 international airports. Registration & Payment Delegation quota for the EMR: 1- Each NMO is allowed a quota of 20 delegates. 2- Out of quota delegates: Alumni, Observers, Support Persons, The quota excludes IFMSA Regional Team and EB-TO. 3- For the out of quota delegates, they must be approved by EMR Regional Coordinator & respective NMO President 4- Externals, Observers and IFMSA Officials, must be approved by the EMR IFMSA Regional Coordinator 5- NMOs that needs extra spots shall contact the OC prior to the registration deadline & The OC will do it’s best to manage it provided that it get approval from EMR RC.
Deadlines: - Registration will start from 4th of October 2014 till 1st of December 2014. - Cancellation Deadline: 14th of December 2014. - Substitution Deadline: 28th of December 2014.
Fee: - Pre-EMR: 150 USD. - EMR: 150 USD. - Observer: 200 USD
Payment: - As soon as the delegates are approved by both sides, the invitation letters will be sent by an email. The invoices will be sent to the NMO presidents. - The registration fees should be paid by wire transfer. EMR Social programe The chosen theme of them Social program of the EMR is Egypt from the past to the future. We are eager to concentrate on the many cornerstone of Egyptian culture and characteristics from the ancient times to the modern one. We will take you through a time trip of the ages. Kicking off the Social program with a Nile trip, you will be taken on a Feluka cruise through Egypt’s main artery, the NILE. A sensational trip observing the busy Cairo metropolitan from the quiet winds of the Nile. Next comes the greatest monument in the World and a testimony to ancient Egypts engineering and greatness, the Pyramids. A days trip to the world wonder with camels, horses and whole bunch of memories.
