Making all injections safe

Theme Event

Unsafe Injection & Global Outbreaks Unsafe injection practices are a global issue. Over the past few decades failures to follow safe injection practices have burdened many developing as well as developed countries with outbreaks of infectious diseases. Globally, approximately 3-4 injections per person per year are administered. As such, the danger of contaminated needles and syringes put thousands of millions of people at risk of contracting bloodborne pathogens including hepatitis B virus (HBV), hepatitis C virus (HCV), and human immunodeficiency virus (HIV). Safe injection practices include measures taken to perform injections in a manner that is safe for patients and providers. Such measures are included in standard infection prevention practices and apply to all patients in all healthcare settings. Healthcare should not provide a pathway for transmission of bloodborne viruses to patients or providers. We as future healthcare providers, we should involve in finding solutions to Public Health issues and learn about public health issues steadiness and global health. We should be equipped with the right skills and knowledge for that. WHO country office will organize Panel in the second day for all the SRT participants to disseminate the knowledge among all the attendees of the workshops. Our theme event aims to to increase the social accountability of the medical students towards this crucial topic and create new generation of advocates and well knowledgeable future health care providers Questions and answers session will follow to guarantee that the information is well understood and discussed perfectly during the panel In order to asses the knowledge of the participants and focus more on the their needs, questionnaires will be distributed among all the accepted participants. In addition, we will distribute a post-SRT survey to evaluate the learning and knowledge of participants after the theme event.
