There are two holy and joyous days for Muslims every year. One of them is Eid-ul-Adha . Numerous cattle are sacrificed every year on Eid-ul-Adha in Bangladesh. How can the cattle market be in this pandemic situation? We are sharing some of our ideas on that. The goal is to create a well planned environment, where both the customer and the cattle seller will feel safe during this pandemic. Due to the financial instability of the people, the number of cattle for Qurbani may be less this time than other times. Again, due to the gathering of many people at the Qurbani cattle market, the situation in Corona may deteriorate. However, according to some, if the number of Qurbani Haats is reduced, the Corona will spread less. But is that really so? Reducing the number of haats will increase the pressure of people in one place and it may be difficult to control. If the number of haats increases and proper management is ensured in all cases, then the gathering of people in one place may be lessened and at the same time it will be easier to supervise.

What should cattle markets (Haat) look like during this pandemic?

In that case, we will try to discuss how the risk can be reduced. We will also discuss how cows and goats can be displayed considering the overall situation, how there can be circulation of human and animal movements, how to dispose of waste and how to reduce the risk of corona.

Every 250 meters there will be an intersection of human and animal roads, so this place has to be crossed carefully. Nodal points will also be provided for collecting ‘Hasil’, money transaction points like bKash, snack shop, hand wash will be provided at a certain distance. For every ten cows, there may be a space of 10 feet where the customer can be shown the cows around if needed and the seller can sit and relax there if he wants.

First of all, everyone has to follow the basic hygiene rules. Of course everyone has to wear a mask and at the same time maintain social distancing. Everyone should voluntarily maintain a distance of 2 meters from each other.

It is important to ensure maximum safety when both people and animals enter the Haat. In that case disinfection chamber or tunnel can be arranged at the entrance. Since many people will gather, there may be a large disinfection tunnel instead of separate disinfection chambers. It will take a minimum of 30 seconds to walk through. Both humans and animals can go through such tunnels.

(A Synectics Approach for Char Mirerbagh on the River Buriganga)

Keraniganj, Dhaka.

Bangladesh is a riverine country. But our rivers are getting degraded day by day due to occupation, wrong steps, and man made pollution. By taking the right initiative, it is possible to restore the rivers to their own beauty. This research report is being presented on re-imaging the water edge identity of Char Mirerbagh on the banks of the River Buriganga. It is possible to keep the riverbank free from encroachment through soft engineering and by creating a beautiful environment and recreational zone by considering the needs and benefits of the people in the vicinity without interfering with the normal flow of the river. The issue of riverbank revitalization has been highlighted through the proper research process. This study examines the issues that are responsible for the deterioration of the Riverfront and tries to find out what are the perceptions of people about the Riverfront use.Data has been collected for understanding the actual condition of the Riverbank and to get the perception of the citizen about their views and what are their expectations regarding redevelopment of the Char MirerBagh Riverfront.

A DIALOGUE BETWEEN LAND AND WATER

THERE ARE TWO TERMS FLUIDITY AND STABILITY . FLUIDITY OF BURIGANGA RIVER AND STABILITY OF CHAR MIRERBAG .THESE TWO ELEMNTS ARE LIVING IN A SYMBIOTIC PROCESS . THEY ARE DEPENDING ON EACH OTHER EVEN THE PEOPLE LIVING AROUND THESE ELEMNTS ARE RELATED WITH BURIGANGA RIVER .IN THIS DESIGN PROCESS WE HAVE TO RESPECT BOTH LAND AND RIVER . When designing a riverbank, care should always be taken not to disrupt the normal flow of the river If the side of the river is filled, exactly the same amount of space has to be left for the river The river bank should be in the form of a slope. So that the river can be given enough space during the rainy season. This prevents the river from changing its course and reduces the incidence of floods in the vicinity So several parts are designed to act as a water retention area during the rainy season.

At first, the existing roads have been located and at the same time, the waterway connections of Dhaka with Char Mirerbagh have also been identified. Attempts have been made to find out how much space will be available if the dockyards are removed
Design Development Phase Later, various functions and amenities have been added considering the character of the river bank and the need for the locality.
Development Phase Different functions have been considered based on the L iterature survey and Questioner survey demand of local People and the catchment area in the vicinity Communication System Promenades Recreational Facilities Community Center Ghat Park Field School Markets Clubs Design Development Phase Attempts have been made to find out the relationship of the river with the locality and how the river air enters the locality.
