HOW THIS MAGAZINE WORKS
READ-DISCOVER-IGNITE
WHAT IS IGNITE HUMANITY?
The idea behind Ignite Humanity is that we can all use our personal stories—including all the complex challenges and transformational moments we have experienced—to connect on a deeper, more profound level.
We can learn so much from other people. You don’t have to be the leader of a nation or the founder of a million-dollar business to inspire and make a change. Change starts with everyday people Igniting themselves and Igniting the lives of others. We are more powerful when we do it together.
Ignite Humanity is a global movement started by Ignite Publishing™ founder Lady JB Owen.7 PRINCIPLES TO IGNITE HUMANITY
When you decide to start a movement, you must clearly envision what you want that movement to be. When Igniting Humanity became my mission, it was important to have well-defined principles and empowering ideas to inspire others to take it seriously and feel invested in getting involved. Sitting down to create the fundamentals of what all can do collectively took both heart and soul to truly think of everyone on the planet and how they would be positively impacted and uplifted.
After much introspection, consideration, and divine listening, the following 7 principles were created to support and connect all people globally to be excited and committed to Ignite Humanity.
Enjoy reading each principle, integrating it into your life, sharing it with your family and community, and living them full-out with the knowing that if we each decide to Ignite another, we will together Ignite Humanity!

7. Give First and Offer All You Can
Give what you can for the betterment of humanity, and be the first person to extend a helping hand to those who need it. This is how we will create a culture of giving.
THE POWER OF STORYTELLING
SARAH CROSS Bestselling Ignite Author, Speaker, and CoachThere is nothing quite like a really good story. Sometimes we can barely remember what we ate for breakfast the day before, but we can instantly recall the plot of our favorite book or movie, even if it has been years since we last read or watched it. Stories leave a lasting impression. They shape us into who we are, and an impactful story can influence and inspire the thoughts and emotions of a person. Storytelling is what makes us uniquely human and connects us with one another.
Sarah Cross, a coach in the Art of Storytelling™, shares how profoundly a story affected her and how that story inspired her to take action and make some major decisions in her life.
Sarah and her fiance were on vacation in Florida and discovered an amazing wine when they went out to dinner. They especially love the story on the back of the bottle, which was about how the couple who created the wine had sailed around the world and, out of all the places they had been, fell in love with New Zealand and wanted to settle down there and make delicious wine from the region. Sarah and her now husband are both from New Zealand, so they fell in love with the story of the wine’s origin and it quickly became their favorite.
“We are conscious consumers. We want to know the story behind the brand and behind the person who built that brand. We want to know their values and what they stand for,“ Sarah
shares. “At the end of the day, all marketing is just telling a powerful story. It helps to share a unique perspective of what your product or service will do for that person, and how they will feel through the process.”
When Sarah and her husband planned their wedding, they wanted to have that exact wine on their special day. They had a sentimental connection to the wine because of the story it told. However, at a local wine festival before their wedding, Sarah met the woman who was the CEO of the wine company; what she shared about the ‘real’ story of the wine shocked Sarah. The woman and her husband did sail, but nowhere near ‘around the world’ as the bottle had stated. And, she didn’t fall in love with New Zealand by traveling there, she was already from there! The woman admitted that the story on the back of the bottle was embellished for marketing. Sarah felt disappointed and betrayed at that truthful revelation and decided not to have the wine at her wedding. When a story turns out not to be true, a brand loses all authenticity and credibility in that person’s eyes. Authenticity is incredibly important. Finding out the story was not true led Sarah to no longer feel connected to the brand and disconnected from the product. That is how powerful the story was to her.
That experience left Sarah with a very important takeaway: You must be authentic.
Sarah shares, “We want someone who has truly learned from their story, who has been through things that can inspire our journey and is relatable. Because of that experience, I started looking into the science of storytelling; our brains are designed to lean into and relate to a story. Stories are 22 times easier to remember than facts.”
Stories are what connect people. When we open up with authenticity, a heartfelt story allows us to truly get to know others and find the beauty within who they are. Since the dawn of humanity, we’ve been telling stories in various ways, which evoke deeply wonderful and human emotions that create a feeling of connection and stay with us for a very long time.
Our stories matter and are vital to the way we live and connect. As Sarah says: “Our unique story is what separates us from everybody else.”
Sharing your authentic story is what sets you apart and draws people to you. Be authentic when you tell your story; that creates connection, camaraderie, and closeness. It is our true and honest stories that will bring humanity closer together and build friendships and relationships for life.
Sarah shares more on the impact of sharing amazing stories in her episode of Humanity Live.
“Storytelling is the first way we learned how to communicate as children. It is how we pass down our culture and our messages of wisdom.”

THE SILVER LINING IN FAILURE
No one wants to fail, but it’s an inevitable part of the journey for those who are truly dedicated to the goals and dreams they aspire to reach. Failure can be disheartening. It can be difficult. But Cullen Stack, a philanthropist and digital marketing expert, believes we can look at failure as an opportunity for progress. Instead of focusing on the negative, imagine how much more driven and inspired we would be if we looked at failure as not just a lesson but a necessary stepping stone in our growth to Ignite the spark that drives us, and to have a deeper understanding and appreciation for our dreams. What if we saw failure as the beginning of something greater?
Cullen’s incredible metaphor that failure is, in fact, the first attempt in learning has allowed him to see failure in a new light. Imagine you’re a baseball player.
If you’re not hitting the ball out of the park on your first try, that gives you valuable information and insight into how to better position yourself for the next try. It is only through missing the ball and trying again that you improve and get to a place where you can hit home run after home run.
By seeing failure as those first attempts, you gain confidence in knowing that each attempt is important in helping you improve and be ready when the next opportunity arrives. You will also have all the prior experience required so that when stepping up to the plate matters, you’re
100% confident that your efforts will succeed.
When you practice and stay consistent and learn from those failures, you create a formula for success that you can replicate repeatedly. And, you wouldn’t have that knowledge if you hadn’t boldly and bravely failed first.
Cullen’s advice? “Have the vision. Have the strategy. Do the research.”
Throughout the successes and failures in Cullen’s career, he found that persisting through failure and continuing to grow as a person, a businessman, and a leader allowed him to become more successful in the long run. It set him up to be in a place where he deeply understood how to make the most of his opportunities and leverage that to do more for others.
One opportunity to do more
“FAIL = First Attempt In Learning.”
—Cullen Stack
came when Cullen’s home state, Florida, was hit by Hurricane Ian in late September 2022. Because Cullen had built so many great connections as an entrepreneur, he could connect with business owners who could donate food, water, and other necessities from their businesses.
He organized getting supplies and drove them himself to people in need. Cullen had a friend from Illinois who donated thousands of LED lanterns that he drove down to Florida. Another client in Georgia delivered a whole trailer of cases of water for Cullen to give out. A friend he had helped with marketing in the past ran a local restaurant, and they began making food. With Cullen’s experience in the military, he knew how to deliver all these life-saving necessities to those who
needed aid.
The impact was immeasurable.
Cullen had the resources and connections to make such an incredible difference because he spent years building his career and learning from every step of the journey to be at the place he is now. The early failures that Cullen experienced in his career were the stepping stones that led to this amazing humanitarian work.
Everyone has experienced failure in their lives. We can let it defeat us or use it to catapult us to the next level of what’s possible. If you’re anything like Cullen Stack, your failures only mean that incredible success and life-changing impact are what you’ll go on to achieve.

PIVOT WITH INTENTION
Pivoting in your life or career can be an incredibly exciting, intentional choice. Some might call it a dynamic switch, or a sought-after detour. However you’re going into a pivot or monumental change, Farrah Smith, a Certified Life Coach, knows from experience that you have to take control of your big decision and pivot with a purpose that aligns with your passion. That way, you can set yourself up for success on your new path and find inventive, exciting ways to develop your skills and build successful connections.
When Farrah graduated from the University of California, she was rejected from her dream job straight out of college. With her plan halted in its tracks, Farrah began working her way up the corporate ladder, and though she found herself in a successful position, she found that she was unhappy and felt like something impactful was missing. “I pivoted without intention and ended
up on the wrong path,” Farrah explains. “I was missing the key ingredient to success and happiness, which is passion.” This connection to knowing what mattered in her life taught her an invaluable lesson that she has carried with her throughout her career: pivot with intention.
Unhappy with her career, Farrah asked herself: What would make me feel aligned, living an impactful life, and internally content?
For Farrah, the answer became clear. She was passionate about helping children, animals, and the planet, so she made a career switch—an intentional pivot—to what aligned with her heart and moved enthusiastically into the nonprofit sector.
With an Ignited passion for the work she was doing, Farrah was able to raise millions of dollars for charity and help make a vital impact on the environment and sea life at an organization called Sea Shepherds.
Farrah shares 3 ways that we can pivot with intention:
Start small and build from there.
If we all waited for our dream opportunities to come to us, we wouldn’t get anywhere! So even if you have to start small, the important thing is to start. Start finding ways to align your life and career more with your passions. Find and grow unexpected skills in the job you have now and build on your passion on the side. You can start by volunteering,
“Never give up on your dreams, even if they don’t happen on your timeline. They will happen.”
—Farrah Smith
starting an initiative, or running an event. Just because you are not getting paid or making your career out of your passion right now doesn’t mean that it won’t happen for you down the line. You just have to keep working on getting there. Every step leads to the next step, and by starting where you are now, you create the path to where it is you want to get.
Explore what makes you feel in alignment.
We often feel like our career decisions need to be made logically, yet listening to our feelings and how our body feels can tell us if a new opportunity or diverging path aligns with us and our dreams. Listen to and trust yourself. Your gut knows what will fulfill you and make you happy, so let that instinct play a vital role in how you pivot throughout your career.
Have a growth mindset. Your natural abilities are just your starting point; you can
and will grow from there. Know that you can work hard, educate yourself, grow, and evolve wherever you are. You don’t have to wait and do nothing while seeking a new opportunity. You can use what is available to you where you’re at right now and find creative ways to bolster your skills, increase your knowledge, and become a better version of yourself so that when it comes time to pivot, you’re already prepared.
Know that you inspire others when you are aligned with your passion and go after your true desires. When you work from a place of knowing and feeling your desires being utilized, you help others do the same and create a ripple effect of impact, which will undoubtedly Ignite the world.
There is so much more Farrah has to share about her story and how to pivot successfully in her episode of Humanity Live.
BEING A BETTER LISTENER
One of the most important things we as humans desire is the desire to feel understood. We are a species that thrives on community, connection, and the important feeling of belonging. When we’re missing those vital basic needs, it can hurt us and make us believe that no one truly understands us. However, having someone who listens to us and acknowledges our needs can completely remove those feelings of isolation and connect us with others on a deeper, more inspirational level.
This is why Tracy Stone, Advanced RTT Therapist and Founder of Limitless Potential, knows that we, as people, all have to be better listeners. “Sometimes we don’t need advice or a plan,” she shares. “We just need to be heard, to be seen, and to feel a sense of connection.”
Here are a few of the essential listening techniques Tracy shares so you can become a better listener and ignite the lives of others.
Listen Beyond Words
What someone tells us might not be all there is to the story. To be a good listener, we must make an effort and hear everything a person is saying, along with what that person might not be saying. For example, suppose a friend shares with you that they’re having trouble keeping up with the workload at their job. In that case, we need to listen to that problem and understand that there may be other feelings that go along with it, like perhaps anxiety, a sense of being out of control, or fear that they are not living up to their own expectations of themselves. Hearing beyond the words allows you to understand more deeply on an emotional level,
but one needs to listen intently to discover what is being left unsaid.
Don’t Push
We may feel like we can help someone by providing them with a solution to their problems or pain, when in reality, all that person wants is for us to say, “I hear you.” Being a problem solver, while usually an amazing quality, can sometimes come off as pushy. Instead of using your time in the conversation with that person to solve their problem, use your connection to explore it instead. Offer compassion, and get them talking about how they feel rather than what they should do.
When we listen, we allow people to share in the way they need, not in the way we need. We open the doors for a deeper conversation that lets people solve their problems intuitively. We can become a sounding board for their inner growth. Listening is a valuable asset and a great skill that fosters more community and connection, which will indeed Ignite Humanity.

BREAKING THE MENTAL HEALTH STIGMA
Too many people fear being honest with themselves and others about their mental health. We are taught that when we have mental health problems, we need to keep it bottled up inside and be strong. But what Cindy Tank-Murphy, mental health advocate and author of the international bestseller, The Strength to Live, knows is that one of the strongest things you can do is open up about your problems and let that be a pathway toward healing and deeper connection.
In 2014, Cindy lost her father to suicide. It was incredibly difficult for Cindy to lose such an important person in her life. During her grieving journey,
Cindy discovered that learning more about mental illness and suicide so that she could be an advocate for those going through similar struggles helped her to hold on to hope. Cindy wanted to give a voice to those that need it the most and help everyone in the world understand that suicide and mental health diseases are like any other—they need treatment, awareness, and compassion in the same manner as all other diseases are globally accepted in the world. A powerful consciousness Cindy discovered through this experience is that empathy is one of the best tools you can have in your toolbox when you want to
advocate for those with a mental illness and break the stigmas surrounding mental health She shares, “One of the things we can do when connecting with someone is that we can always show up authentically. We can have empathy and choose to reach out and offer support.”
After Cindy lost her father and learned more about mental illness, she began recognizing signs that one of her daughters was struggling. She shares, “I knew at that point that I needed to sit down and have a real, honest conversation with her.” That compassionate and empathetic conversation, with Cindy actively and truly listening,
“As human beings, we’re supposed to reach out, connect, and offer support to others.”
—Cindy Tank-Murphy
allowed her daughter to feel that she could open up and share her own struggles with mental health and thoughts of suicide. That was a pivotal moment for Cindy. It made her realize how important it was to be a safe space and empathetic listener for others so that they could open up instead of pushing down their emotions because of stigma and shame.
Cindy shares that everyone should extend a little more compassion and a little less judgment because you never truly know what someone is feeling until you allow them to share openly. Your interest and caring could be the very thing they need to make it through their day and find the strength to carry on.
Cindy’s courageous journey inspired her to spend two years studying this issue and to write a book about those affected by suicide. The Strength to Live, is what came out of Cindy’s years of learning and her personal experiences on a subject she now advocates for and speaks about publicly. The Strength To Live, is a heartfelt, compassionate, and powerful look into
how we can help those struggling with their mental health and how we can help those grieving the loss of a loved one to suicide.
In her book, Cindy holds your hand through your grief process. She makes you feel as if she is wrapping you in a warm embrace, and helps you navigate the unknown path that you may find yourself standing upon. Cindy shares stories from those that have found hope and light in their mental health journey. Cultivating an understanding for this process through the depths of their despair, and stepping forward into a life filled with wisdom, new perspectives, and gratitude—Cindy shows how the Strength to Live is within us all. With action steps at the end of each chapter that will transition the reader through grief with a feeling of support and love, Cindy has written this book as a true gift in the hands of those that need it the most.
It was Cindy’s joy to work with Ignite Publishing, the leaders in empowerment publishing, to bring her book to the world. Ignite Publishing was honored to publish this
“The world would be a brighter, more caring place if we allowed struggling people to speak up about what they are going through. Often, it is hard to share your feelings, as it’s a deeply vulnerable, profoundly scary process. But when you have people who are truly there for you and are listening without judgment, that is what allows people to open up.”
—Cindy Tank-Murphy
book, knowing that it would impact millions of lives with its much-needed perspective and authentic real-life stories of those who have been impacted by suicide. Founder and CEO, Lady JB Owen, shares in her publisher’s note, “I am deeply proud to be the publisher of this book. I feel both a sense of duty and pride to support this great work in being available for those who need it most. The Strength to Live is a phenomenal book, and Cindy Tank-Murphy is an author I am honored to know, and you reading this book is a gift I feel blessed to share.”
The Strength to Live went bestseller in the United Kingdom, United States, Canada, and Australia. With number 1 ratings in the Counseling, Grief, Bereavement, and Spiritual Healing categories.
If there is one thing about mental health Cindy wants you to
know, it is this: “Struggling with your mental health isn’t something shameful or something that needs to be hidden. When you remove the shame and stigma surrounding suicide, you can talk about it and get the help you need.”
800,000 people die from suicide around the world each year. This number does not even include the number of unsuccessful attempts, and countless people are affected by every single one of these lives lost. We need to come together and care for one another on a deeper level. We need to pull back the layers, look for the signs of people who are struggling, and break the stigmas about mental health so that people worldwide can know they are loved, cared for, and have the support they need around them.

HAPPINESS IS AN INSIDE JOB
Happiness. How do we define it? How do we achieve it? What does it mean to each of us?
There is a great quote by author and motivational legend Denis Waitley that says, “Happiness cannot be traveled to, owned, earned, worn, or consumed. Happiness is the spiritual experience of living every minute with love, grace, and gratitude.”
Hanna Meirelles, bestselling author, and global trainer, shares that from a very young age, she discovered that happiness is an inside job. Coming from humble beginnings, Hanna reflected on her childhood struggles and how having ‘less than’ others and ‘being excluded’ due to her lower social status greatly impacted her own definition of happiness.
Hanna shares, “I realized at 10 years old, after being shunned by friends, that I did not want anybody, ever, to feel excluded. I wanted to include everybody, and inclusion for me meant true
happiness with love and grace.”
Moments like what Hanna went through as a child are often called Ignite “Impact” Moments, where a situation or experience teaches us the ability we have to go out into the world and make a difference in our lives and the lives of others. These Ignite “Impact” Moments help us recognize what fulfills, drives, and inspires us to do more for just ourselves and aspire to Ignite Humanity.
“We have the power to choose what we do when rejection shows up in our lives; we have the power to transform the rejection into a catalyst for something tremendous.” Hanna shares, feeling rejected can cause us to move in a new direction. Wanting connection and love can become a “transformational” Ignite Moment that propels us into our mission and a deep desire to serve others. That is what happened to Hanna when she took the time to
look back at her Ignite Moments and use them to propel her forward in life.
Hanna shared with us that through her Ignite Moments, she discovered that her self-belief attracted what others deemed impossible into her life. When she was coming out of college, her determination and passion got her the job of her dreams. Her desire and focus helped her to advance in her career and step forward into her true purpose of helping children gain an education and have access to the tools they need to excel and become the achievers they can be. Her childhood experience sparked in her what she does now, Igniting the hearts and minds of kids to feel their abilities despite their economic conditions. Hanna believes we all can Ignite our lives despite where we have come from or the way someone told us how to be.
HANNA MEIRELLESTo reach your desires, Hanna suggests you write down your 3 biggest passions and note what you can do to move the needle on Igniting that passion. Taking small steps in that direction will help Ignite yourself and all of humanity.

WORKPLACE CULTURE: HOW DO YOU SHOW UP?
We spend a lot of our time at work. In fact, the average person spends 90,000 hours of their life working! Whether we’re going into the office or working from home in a virtual workplace, we talk to our coworkers every day. Those connections, both professional and personal, have the power to make us feel great about the work we do and the skills we bring to the table. They can make us feel valued and a necessary asset to the team.
Just like how the physical space we work in is an environment, the people we are surrounded by each day and how they treat us also form an environment. This is what author and corporate executive, Chellie Phillips refers to as Workplace Culture. Chellie is an author and award-winning corporate trainer who shows businesses how to create an irresistible workplace culture, and she has seen countless successful, and not-so-successful workplaces.
Chellie explains, “Culture really is what I call the DNA of the workplace. It’s what makes it unique is what makes it different.”
Sometimes, when we don’t feel valued, we feel that way because we are in a negative workplace culture. When this
happens, we find it harder to excel at what we, deep down, know we are excellent at. Our work life is impacted, and we find ourselves seeing work as something we have to do rather than something we are proud to do.
How can we change our workplace culture so that everyone—including ourselves—feels passionate and empowered by their work?
Chellie shares a few solutions.
Remind yourself of your value. You deserve to feel appreciated, and when your professional confidence takes a hit because of your work environment, you might need an extra special reminder of your value to get your groove back.
Chellie recommends that you go out and poll five of your friends. Yes, actually poll them! Call them, text them, see them, and directly ask them two questions:
What do you enjoy about me?
“When we leave work at 5 o’clock, our day doesn’t end. The feelings that we have when we leave work, if we feel valued and appreciated or feel that we did something that matters, carry over with us to our next stop.”
—Chellie Phillips
What skills do I have?
Even if it feels awkward to ask, your friends are going to give you a genuine, heartfelt answer when you really need it. Take their words and let them fuel your confidence. Then take the positive attributes they shared back into your workplace. Use those qualities to uplift and Ignite your office. Share more of who you are to benefit the culture you work in—be it an office, store, restaurant, school, or factory, you can influence the workplace to have a positive culture by adding your unique gifts.
Chellie advises, “It will do a world of good for you to think positively about the things you are putting out there in the world that really matter.”
Decide how you want to show up.
How we show up at work is what sets us apart. When our work makes us feel like our best isn’t enough, we might find ourselves slipping into being that person who clocks in, does the bare minimum, and collects their paycheck.
Chellie recommends to anyone trying to show up in the workplace with more drive and positivity that they take the time to define their core values. Brainstorm, write them out, decide how you will embody them, and use them as a reminder of how you’re showing up at work—and in life.
Create a ripple effect. Your attitude directly impacts your workplace culture. Your workplace culture impacts every single person who works there. A positive attitude can have a tremendous ripple effect. You own that ability to positively affect your co-workers, so be willing to be the one to start the ripple effect!
“People are going to gravitate toward you when you show up with an attitude of positivity or an attitude of inclusivity. They’ll gravitate toward you if you ask them about their life or what they did on the weekend,” explains Chellie.
The ripple effect comes from knowing your value, showing up with positivity because of that knowledge, and using your supportive attitude to form connections with the people around you. Making a difference is making connections. Just like how connection unites and Ignites Humanity, connection also works on a smaller scale to make those 90,000 hours of your life spent at work that much better!

SPREAD LOVE WITH STONE ART: A HOW-TO GUIDE
Deborah DeLisi's life changed forever when her daughter, Kate, passed away from taking her own life. With nowhere to direct all the love she held in her heart for her daughter, Deborah embraced what she was going through and decided to use that loss to come out the other side. Despite her grieving, Deborah cultivated an idea for how she could use that love and loss to spread joy and compassion to other people who may be feeling the same.
The result was a movement of sharing messages of hope, and connection through an unexpected medium—beautifully painted stones left in public places for people to discover when they need a positive message most. Deborah, the founder of the Abundant Love Project brings people together by creating, sharing, and inspiring others to paint their love and emotions onto stones for people to find. She inspires others to decorate stones and leave them in random places with the hope that the person who finds them is uplifted by their heartfelt message and intent.
Sharing these artful stones and messages of love can make a profound impact when somebody needs it the most. It can be the smallest act of kindness that can set us forward toward a new path of inner happiness.
Deborah shares that anyone can be a part of her movement and this small gesture of connection can easily Ignite Humanity. She encourages you to paint a stone for yourself and for someone else. Doing this project will touch your life and the life of someone you may never meet, but will be impacted nonetheless. Here is how to create your own Abundant Love stone:
“The reason we come to this planet as human beings is to create.”
—Deborah DeLisi
Step One
Get out into nature and find some stones! Ones that fit nicely in the palm of your hand and have flat, smooth surfaces are best.
Step Three
Gather some paint pens, or purchase them if you don’t have any. Deborah recommends pens that are labeled, ‘good on various surfaces,’ even if they don’t specifically mention that you can use them on stones. She also recommends fine-tipped pens (0.7mm), as they allow you to get more detail onto the small surface of the stone.
Step Five
Write out a message on a piece of paper that you can attach to the stone. Deborah suggests a note ensuring the person who finds the stone knows they are loved. So be sure to fill your note with kindness and heartfelt sentiment. Then, attach the note to your stone with a piece of string, ribbon, or elastic band—make sure the paint on your stone is dry first!
This is a fun, caring, and creative way for people to spread joy to humanity. We all need to know we are loved, and when we all feel connected and cared for the world becomes a brighter, better, more loving place for everyone.
Learn more about Deborah’s story and how it inspired her to Ignite Humanity in her episode of Humanity Live.
Step Two
Take your stones home with you and wash them with soap in the sink to get off any dirt and dust attached to them. This prepares them to be painted on.
Step Four
Decorate your stone with an emotion you want the receiver to feel. If you need inspiration, you can find many examples online of other people painting stones of inspiration. Deborah also posts ideas on The Abundant Love Project’s Facebook page so you can see some examples of what is touching the hearts of others.
Step Six
Head out and find a place to leave your stone, somewhere you know someone will find it. Lean into the intuitive knowing of where that stone needs to be left so it can be found. Then, trust that the universe will bring the exact person who needs to hear your message of love to that very spot!
LISTENING TO INNER GUIDANCE
Connections are what unite us and Ignite change within us all. They are profound; they influence us at our core and can be a catalyst for change for all of humanity. There are so many ways that we can connect with others: through stories, through a simple hello in the grocery store, and even now, in this digital age, online through social media. It is important to focus on building connections—by doing this, we expand and collectively step into who we are meant to be.
Barbie Layton, a quantum healer, speaker, bestselling author, and TV host of You Are Amazing, understands the power of connecting with others. On her journey to success, her lowest moment of suffering with an unexpected illness caused a setback in her ambitions. She felt lost and unsure of how to go forward. It was through her love
of fashion that Barbie found the desire to get back out there and show up for those who mattered and for herself.
Barbie noticed that when she showed up for others, others showed up for her in return. Her catalyst to ‘show up’ in her life was a pivotal moment that changed her present and future. The act of ‘showing up’ was a profound Ignite Moment™ in her life, and it teaches us that sometimes we need to do what we can with the tools we have. When we do, the Universe will manifest more in our lives. The power that we hold within us is magic, and when we acknowledge this truth, we thrive and blossom into who we are destined to be.
Leaning into the Divine and trusting her inner guidance has always been a pillar in Barbie’s life. “Once I got out of my own way, that is when I really started
to see my life change.” she shares. “Sometimes, we can be so set on how things should be that we actually stand in our own way; we become the block in the way of our future successes.”
Barbie encourages us all to step outside our comfort zones and interact with everyone we encounter. “When we interact with others, we light up their day; even a simple ‘Hello, how are you?’. It can instantly transform someone else’s experience, and that is truly powerful.”
As someone committed to Igniting Humanity, Barbie Layton is an inspiration to us all to focus on the good in our lives, strive to better ourselves and all of humanity through the connections we forge, and focus on the good to, in turn, manifest more greatness into our lives.
Here are 5 ways to improve your skills and listen to your inner guidance.
1. Take time in your day to just be; use this time to focus on your senses. What do you see? Feel? Hear? This will bring you into the present moment without distraction and calm your nervous system.
2. If you have a passion, make sure you permit time in your week to put your dreams into action. If you like helping others, go out there and do some charity work. If you like to draw, set up a home studio in the corner of your room to be creative when you feel inspired. If you love to write, start that book that you always promised yourself you will write one day. One day is now. Embrace it.
3. Use affirmations every day in the morning. Stick notes on your mirror to remind you.
Great ones to use are: I am worthy, I am beautiful, I am successful, I am wise.
4. Use a gratitude journal at the end of every day to remind you of all the miraculous things that occurred on that day. Be it your children’s smile, someone opening the door for you, or the embrace of your spouse. Write down what made you feel good, and recognize how rich you are in love.
5. Push your boundaries. If you fear speaking in public—sign up for a community event to share your wisdom. If you fear failure, seek a mentor to help you start that company you always wanted to start. Our reality is what we make it. Believe you can’t, and you won’t! Believe you can, and you will!
When you listen to your inner guidance, it gives you the energy, excitement, and mindset to go out and achieve your dreams and help empower others to reach theirs as well. Igniting Humanity starts with Igniting you! In her episode of Humanity Live, Barbie has even more wisdom to share about inner guidance and Igniting Humanity.
WHAT MAKES YOUR HEART BEAT?
Dr. Yasmine Saad, a top-rated NYC Licensed Clinical Psychologist, wants everyone to ask themselves, “What makes your heart sing?” She says that whatever makes your heart happy is part of your purpose and is the key to understanding the way you think and feel.
For some, the answer to this question is dancing. For others, the answer is travel, writing, art, or teaching. It can be anything! But every person has at least one thing that makes their heart beat, puts them in a state of flow, and aligns them with who they are.
Yasmine’s idea of Igniting Humanity starts with people sharing what makes their heart full and aligned with their purpose. She believes that is the way we’ll forge authentic connections and create a world where everyone lives in alignment with their meaning and has a greater understanding of their own inner world—and those become the thoughts and feelings that make up who we are.
That idea of deep, purposeful connection is fundamental for everyone. Have you ever been around, for example, a couple in love or someone who has just received great news? Have you been able to feel that positivity radiating off of them? “When people are happy, they radiate,”
Yasmine shares. “And, we all need that. Just being around someone who is content in their heart makes others feel better.”
Yasmine shares that when we find ourselves in an emotional gridlock, unable to get out of our negative thoughts and emotions, discovering a way to put ourselves in a more joyful, optimistic, and positive mindset is what will truly help. And, that begins with surrounding ourselves with others who are doing what aligns
to what in your life is not working for you. They’re here to expand awareness.”
When you find what makes your heart joyous, share that with the world. You never know who needs your light to help them get out of their negative thoughts, and you never know when you’ll need that connection in return when you find yourself struggling to find the positive. While everyone has negative thoughts and bad days, we we can reset our
and Ignites them. Their positive attitude opens the door for us to do what makes our heart beat in return. That sharing of joy has an incredibly beneficial and widespread impact, that forms more endearing emotions as a result.
Sometimes, despite living on purpose, we feel negative thoughts and emotions. Yasmine tells us to rethink how we perceive those thoughts and emotions. She shares, “Negative emotions are just a signal. They’re simply aiming to realign you, reset you, and call attention
thoughts and emotions in more powerful ways; we just have to recognize that it is time for us to move into a new mindset and a new circumstance that will awaken our joy.
By finding positivity in our lives, we help show others how to do it in their lives. This ripple effect will empower people across the globe to connect, inspire, and uplift one another.
Yasmine shares even more wisdom-filled insight into our thoughts and emotions in her episode of Humanity Live.
“When people share their stories or the depths of their emotions, that helps other people connect to the depths of themselves as well.”

IT’S NOT WHERE YOU START; IT’S WHERE YOU GO
Gordon So, author and co-founder of Landed For Success™ was raised by immigrant parents, and like many children of immigrants, he remembers hearing the stories of struggle and hardship. He recalls his father saying, “When I came to Canada, I had 50 cents and an apple in my pocket.” Fact or not, Gordon knew the meaning behind what his father shared with him. His father wanted him to understand how much effort and work he put in to provide a good life for his children. Hearing how his father got started is a powerful reminder that even those who come from nothing, with a mindset for success, can achieve their goals and create a better life for themselves and for others.
That is why mindset is so vital to Gordon’s journey to success.
He believes we all reach a tipping point when we achieve our dreams, and the difference between success and failure is how strongly we believe in ourselves and what we can create. In his episode of Humanity Live, Gordon shares some of the important lessons he learned that helped shape him and his mindset, and how that mindset was essential to his success.
an entrepreneur could be lonely,” Gordon shares, “It could be tough and challenging, both financially and emotionally. A friend of mine once told me, ‘Every day above ground is a good day,’ and so during those tough days, I had to learn gratitude and how to be grateful.”
Gordon says practicing gratitude can also come from reaching out to others who
“We all have different things we struggle through. We each need to be grateful.”—Gordon So Gordon suggests you learn and practice gratitude, even when there doesn’t seem to be much to be grateful for. “Being
might be struggling. “Just say, ‘Hi. How’s it going?” Maybe that compassion is all somebody needs to feel better.
Remind yourself of your hero, of why you want to realize your goals and ambitions. For
“We all have different things we struggle through. We all have stories.”
—Gordon So
—Gordon So
Gordon, his hero is his mother. “She raised five of us. She immigrated to this country, and her work ethic was just unbelievable. She always had a smile on her face,” Gordon shares.
Having that person to look up to and emulate is an important, constant reminder of the why behind your dreams. That is the best fuel for success because it lives at the heart of who you are.
“My mom never gave up,” Gordon says, and that is why he believes that a mindset of not giving up, of knowing success will happen, is so important.
As his hero, she showed Gordon that wealth is more than money. Wealth is being there for your family. It’s taking care of your health and the health of your loved ones. It is developing yourself so your skills match your ambitions.
If you think big, you have to act big. Belief is important. The power of our belief allows us to manifest our success and find the drive to go after our goals. “Everything starts with the mind,”
explains Gordon. “Whatever the mind can conceive can be achieved.”
Gordon urges us to do more than think about what we can do. We also have to act on our beliefs. “If you’re going to think big and act small, you’re always going to be small. If you think big, you have to act big.” Gordon recommends, alongside developing your mindset, surrounding yourself with like-minded, motivated people. “That’s going to fuel and Ignite your dreams.”
Gordon So is just one example of how someone can have a truly wealthy mindset and how that, when combined with hard work and dedicated action, creates a lasting and profound success that affects not only the individual but every person whose life is touched by their work. Your goals, dreams, and ambitions are possible when you have a mindset for success!

Deborah DeLisi
Deborah DeLisi’s life fell apart in 2014 when her 29-year-old daughter, Kate, suddenly passed away. She felt paralyzed and in a terrifying lucid dream, unable to move forward or live without her.
Pain was her primary emotion and she began to notice it more in others. Nature became her escape as she walked the beach in solitude each morning. Noticing the smooth grey stones on the sand, she took some home and drew a heart on one side, and wrote "You are loved" on the other. The next day, they were hidden outdoors with a note of encouragement for a stranger to find.
Compassion became the sun that burned off the fog of grief. Within months, she created The Abundant Love Project. Thousands now participate and spread kindness around the world, one stone at a time.
As an artist, Deborah’s creativity remains a constant companion in the face of many challenges. Through it all, her two daughters, Sara and Kate, are her greatest creations.
