Because of Him PR

Modern Miracles and One Long Ago What do the light bulb, bionic legs, and Jesus have in common? Each appears in a video posted on YouTube by the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints earlier this week. Already at (#) views, “Because of Him” contrasts the feats of human ingenuity—some might even call them modern miracles—with the unprecedented miracle of Jesus’s Resurrection. Easter’s deeper meaning is gradually becoming displaced by the focus on egg hunts and chocolate bunnies, John Smith, director of the project, explained. “We tend to get caught up in the festivities and forget the powerful message of the Resurrection,” he said. “We wanted to remind ourselves and others that Christ is the reason for this season as well Christmas.” Smith’s observations reflect recent trends. A 2010 survey by the Barna Group determined that although most Americans believe Easter is a religious holiday, less than half believe it celebrates the Resurrection. The message is fading the most among those ages 18 to 25, who were the least likely to say that Easter is a religious holiday. “We want future generations to feel the hope that comes from the Easter message,” Smith said. “It’s a very simple and beautiful message: anyone can start over again at any time because of Jesus.”
