Hei!

PLANTS TO MAKE PROSFYGIKA BEAUTIFUL, STONES TO MAKE HER SAFE Diploma project
This project seeks to investigate on the potentials of Athens as a city transitioning from being a ”capital in crisis” to becoming a living city made by and for it´s inhabitants. Situated in one of very few modernist housing complexes in the centre of the city, the project aims to discuss how such a place - with it´s typology and location may become a resource in the Athenian urban landscape. The project is, rather than an absolute proposal, a speculation on how one may see this neighbourhood change, according to the hopes and needs of not only the community appropriating it - but for the city as a whole, learning from the city itself. Tutors: Anders Rubing & Andrea Spreafico

Axonometric view of the neighbourhood, where three ”common spaces” has been transformed from being apartments to becoming a ”bakery”, a ”assembly room” and a infrastructure offi ce - with only small changes and diff erent furniture defi ning the rooms.

blocks buildt in vast landscape, disconnected from surroundings - a space of “otherness”.
blocks are inhabited and spaces in between are embraced - life folds out to surroundings.
3. blocks are suddenly surrounded by big buildings, and the relation to the city is cut off - again it becomes a space of otherness.

Life between the buildings/ extention of home
2a) stretching out
today buildings are closed off, surrounded by big buildings
but in stead of being introvert, programs are added to include surroundings
hopefully, by doing this, the thresholds are softened, and the blocks are easier to approach from the outside
When stretchinc out, the project introduces three programs into the buildings, that all relate to the surroundings: 1. A legal aid office 2. A common kitchen 3- A garden 4. A school for unemployed youth 5. The objects of negotiation In addition to the program, the project introduces a selection of simple objects placed in between the buildings, as negotiable elements that define the common space.: The ”aldo” playground, the ”conversation piece”, the stones (leading the way and showing where things are, and the table - all round and open - contradictory to the strict, rectangular shape the houses have.

3. Welcoming the city - the mini agora The mini agora is really just a kiosk; the kiosks, (or the peripteros, which is greek for kiosk) in Athens has played an important role for the city´s public life. The first peripteros in Athens was introduced as the free press came, and has since been looked at as the ”people´s agora”. The peripteros has a recognizeable shape, and is small and easy to move. Consisting of a core that is two by two metres, and a roof that is three by three metres, the peripteros defines a suitable low key public space in a dense city like Athens. The last proposal is therefore a small kiosk that can be moved around between and around the buildings, and as a communicative element in the city. The idea is that it it a soft, recognizable element, allowing low key pop up events to happen. Or you can just relax and have a cup of coffee.

Collaboration with James Barber and Victoria Storemyr

COMPLEX CONTEXT Mastercourse autumn 2016
This project is looking at the city between the mountain and the fjord: Bergen, and the importance of water - the rivers as well as the rain - and how it has shaped the city as well as the way we live and move. To understand the city, we´ve walked up and down and mapped three different rivers on three different sites - ending up with focusing especially on one river in Møllendal, which is in development as the extention of the city core. The project is divided in two: 1) The story along the rivers and interventions dealing with how we meet the Møllendal river, and 2) a communal bathhouse at the end of the river as the final and main intervention. Collaboration with Susanna Lindvall and Miriam Sharp Pierson

YOU, ME, US BAS Master course 2016
In this project´ve been interested in looking at platforms for commonness – spaces where you meet and do things together as equals, despite of backgound, religion, economy, gender, sexual orientation etc. - but at the same time as individuals;not as ”us” and ”them”, but ”all of us together”. What it is that connects people, and what ”tears” down borders for ”unknownness”. Children, for example, are easily integrated with each other, as they have the school as a platform for getting to know each other as equals. Grown up asylum seekers however, do not automatically have this, and are therefore easily left to themselves. The project is situated in the old Transformation station at Landås, which is Bergen´s first suburb. Landås was established in the late 50s, and is mostly consisting of low post war housing blocks and a few detatched houses. Landås is also where one of Bergen´s asylum centres are. Landås transittmottak is situated in the old Teacher´s college, and the whole building is quite big and kind of strangely placed in a very residential area. andås square was built as the centre of Landås, and has today lost it´s function as a neighbourhood square. It still offers a few services, such as a grocery store, a dentist, a flower shop and bingo. There is even a very nice global food store, and a small library.
”What is most important is to do as we do normally, invite the migrants to come in the same way we invite the other neighbourhood residents. That way everybody is equal with no hierarchy causing discomfort.” Agnes Tvinnereim, Bærekraftige Liv Landås

”The library is very important in the local community here at Landås. It was built for that purpose in the late 50´s, and it still serves it´s purpose. Landås has become a lot more diverse since then, and the nice thing is that this actually is a place where everyone comes to! I wish we had more space, though - for bigger gatherings and events. Åshild Sæle, Librarian at Landås Filial

DAMSGÅRD SILO Bachelor project
Much of the industrial heritage of Damsgårdsundet has during the recent years been cleared and replaced by apartment buildings, which has transformed Damsgårdssunded from being a diverse productive area to becoming homogenous and repetative. This project aims to resist this tendency by making a thoroughly civic use of the Sand Silo, its crane and environs. Removing street level barriers to draw the passerby through to the water and under the silo itself gains the project an immediacy whilst the installation of gallery, performance, and restaurant spaces provide foreground and a curated set of cultural inputs that hopefully will enritchen the social and cultural life of Damsgård. Tutors: Magnus Wåge, André Fontes, Pablo Capdevilla
