The Site Visitor Center, cromeleque dos almandres Like a few slices of rock extending out of the hills, the building is conceived as a series of stone set onto the slope. The building conveys a sense of crudeness and simplicity, deriving its shape from neolithic architecture. Looking from afar it neither hides itself, nor stands out from its background as a piece of menhir, but rather blends with the menhirs as part of the neolithic civilisation.
Ihvan Pahrevy

The visitor is guided through the wilderness, embracing the nature before reaching the visitor center that is sitting calmly on the slope, giving an impression of a sacred ruins that escapes the aging by the time. The visitor center provides a transition space with a long upward ramp facing a glimps of the ancient menhirs through the vista, where visitors could contemplate their surroundings, giving them time to appriciate a part of the magnificent wonders of the past.

The Lagoa Comprida Lake Bath Consisting of rocky hills, blue lake, and lush meadow, the site is a dramatic composition of nature’s many faces. The heaviness of the stone and the vastness of the lake dominates the landscape and act as a background for the humble meadow.
Ihvan Pahrevy
Architecture Portfolio
To preserve the natural feel of the landscape, it is important to use local material for the building. As the site itself is like a painting, interventing it with an element that isn’t in it must be done with caution as to prevent the loss of the original ‘sense of place’.
The building must also be designed to be sturdy and strong enough to withstand the windy environment and harsh winter climate.
