Welcome to the 2016 IIABL Convention and Exhibition!
TABLE OF CONTENTS
On behalf of the Board of Directors and the Staff of the Independent Insurance Agents and Brokers of Louisiana, it is my pleasure to welcome you to our 114th annual IIABL Convention & Exposition. As always, this event gives us the opportunity to network, visit and relax with fellow agents, brokers and company representatives. Our 2016 theme, Big I - The Force Awakens, reinforces how strong and powerful the Independent Insurance Agency system is when agents, companies and brokers work together to provide excellent products and services for our clients. Truly, we are a ‘Force Awakened’ to conquer the ever changing challenges in today’s fast paced business climate and to remain the preferred system of choice for insurance consumers. Take the opportunity to visit with our exhibitors and sponsors. Without their support this convention would not be the success that it is. Thank you for attending the convention. Take advantage of the programs and events including golf, fishing or relaxing by the beach or pool. We have excellent education sessions for you to learn new ideas on managing and improving your agency. Our guest speakers include our Commissioner Jim Donelon, Keynote Speaker and CE Instructor Mary Eisenhart Belka and our IIABA Chairman Elect Spencer Houldin. Music will be provided by The Wise Guys at our Dance, and with any luck at all, we will watch the Tigers in Omaha. Whether it is education, golf, networking, dining, dancing, fishing or relaxing - we have something for everyone! Have fun, enjoy the convention and may the Force Awaken you!

The expense side of the Balance Sheet must be addressed by insurance agencies at long last – on an investment basis. Operations management has never been more important – and so little understood by most agency owners, whose expertise is usually on the sales (but not necessarily sales management) side of things. Written, formal procedures must be organization-wide, encompassing sales, service, IT, and accounting, in order to build an extraordinary organization. Procedures are just the beginning – actually they are nearly the last step in establishing the wellrun agency. Owners must commit to total quality, including operations, in order to profitably support insurance sales organizations
