UPDATE
The 1st session of the 54th Oklahoma Legislative Session opened Tuesday January 8th. New statements regarding CEU requirements were proposed to include in our existing State of Oklahoma Registered Interior Designer Law. OIDC is proposing a 24 CEU hour requirement over a two year period, which is commensurate with the existing architectural act. A portion of our law pertaining to continuing education is listed below. 21. Adopt rules providing for a program of continuing education in order to insure that all licensed Architects, or Landscape Architects and Registered Interior Designers remain informed of those technical and professional subjects which that the Board deems appropriate to professional architect or landscape architect practice. The Board may by rule describe the methods by which the requirements of such program may be satisfied. Failure to meet such requirements of continuing education shall result in non-renewal of the license and/or registration issued to the architect or landscape architect. For more information on OIDC and how to become a member visit http://www.oidc.info/
NCIDQ
UPDATE
th
Article taken from NCIDQ Blog – July 16 , 2012
“WASHINGTON, DC— As previously announced, NCIDQ is phasing out the paper-and-pencil multiplechoice exams as the organization launches computer-based testing for two new multiple-choice sections of the NCIDQ Examination. The Section 3 Practicum exam is not changing and will continue to be administered in a paper-and-pencil format. The multiple-choice exams will be given only three more times in a paper-and-pencil format. After the fall 2013 administration, the multiple-choice sections will be delivered exclusively via computer at a network of testing centers across North America. Those who have not passed both of the current paper-and-pencil multiple-choice sections by the end of 2013 must retake both of the new sections since the content will have shifted between the new sections of the exams. Whether you are retaking a multiple-choice section you did not pass previously, or whether you are taking the multiple-choice exam(s) for the first time, you must pass both Section 1 (Codes, Building Systems, Construction Standards and Contract Administration) and Section 2 (Design Application, Project Coordination and Professional Practice) before the end of 2013. For those individuals who have not, their passing multiple-choice score will be voided and they will have to take both of the new sections on computer.” http://www.ncidq.org/AboutUs/AboutNCIDQ/News/TransitionforPassingMultipleChoiceExams.aspx

BOWL–A–RAMA
The 2012 Bowl-A-Rama Event was a fantastic success, with $500.00 dollars being graciously raised for OIDC! The theme was “Pick Your Decade” upon which designers’ consumes were based. Bowling pin trophies were awarded to the best team costume, worst bowling score and best bowling scores! Best Pin decorating contest also won an iPod supplied by Interface Flor. A raffle was also drawn for a gift card to the Good Egg Dining Group! Our event partner for this event was Jim Sedladek with Interface Flor. Mr. Sedladek has been underwriting this event for several years and we are excited to announce his involvement with next year’s event as well. CASINO NIGHT
The IIDA 2012 Casino Night was our most attended event for the year. As a result of the planning by our previous Programs Chair, Rachael Gruntmeir, the chapter was able to round off the evening with great success. The event featured elaborate decorations, games, a photo booth and food supplied by CafĂŠ 7. Guests were able to turn in their chips for a chance to win one of the fabulous door prizes. The night began with a T-shirt drive for Youth Services of Oklahoma County with a total of $1,000.00 being raised for the organization. None of this could be possible without the help from our many event underwriters. Each underwriter was featured in some way at the event and IIDA is very appreciative and thankful for their support.
