Fall is finally here which is always a time full of activity for our IIDA Houston City Center! We have already kicked off our first event, which was the Volunteer Orientation and we have so much more happening in the months to come. This is always an exciting time for IIDA because it symbolizes the beginning of a new year with many new opportunities for our organization and our community. In July, the 2017-2018 Chapter Board members were graciously hosted by OFS Brand, Tandus Centivas and National for a 4-day retreat in the “Windy City”, Chicago, Illinois. We were able to visit the newly renovated IIDA Headquarters office, take a boat tour and spent our days discussing new opportunities for IIDA TX/OK Chapter, City Centers and our members. Your new Houston City Center Council is ready to hit the ground running starting with our Membership Social on October 26th, the perfect time to get all your colleagues involved in IIDA. Let’s not forget ZeroLandfill was moved to the fall, which will have a special Harvest day for Teachers & Artist. This year, Modern

IIDA DRESS DRIVE
“I have nothing to wear” will never have the same meaning again in Houston! It is now a literal statement for some of us, and those of us that escaped Harvey with our closets intact realized we do have lots to wear (and share). IIDA asked the community to help upcycle these items. This past week, all affected by Harvey were invited to take a short break from their challenging day to come shop for clothes while enjoying a glass of wine, nibbles, and pampering in return for their time. We had new and like new formal dresses, mens’ suits, professional attire, shoes, handbags and accessories to choose from. We also raffled gift cards, and distributed goody bags for guests to take home. This event was open to everyone “on the front lines” (AKA the Architecture, Design and Construction community) of rebuilding Houston. If you have a co-worker or neighbor that lost their closet too, please notify Heather Barlow at 713-854-2449, as we would still love to help! Together we are HOUSTON STRONG as we rebuild our beloved city together.
Please join us in thanking all who donated time and resources to make this event a success: Donations: Younique/Gayla Jensen, Global/Angela Price, Interior Architects/Clara karnei, Ziegler Cooper Architects, Blue Water Studio/Kimberly Phipps-Nichol, Quality Service Floorcovering/Hillary Waters & Steavie Cain, Method Architecture/Cheri Bartels & Coryn Williams, JE Dunn/Amber Timmermeyer, ACS/Alyssa Turner, WHR/Gail Sterlinig, Curve Hospitality, Abel Design Group, Huitt-Zollars, Page, Kirksey, Gensler, Sephora, PDR, HOK Time: Heather Barlow, Kimberly Phipps-Nichol, Hilary Waters, Carla Whitten, Ashley Elks, Mary Taylor Carwile, Danielle Farley, Courtney Ortiz, Kressia Rodriguez, Kimberly Serrano, Dean Dorman, janet Farren, Natasha Appel, Rachel Kelsey, Kate Barkmann, Sana Rehman, Amanda meininger, Anna Dunn, Megan Romboletti Gift Card Sponsors: $150 Sephora Hillary Waters (QSI), $100 Kohls Kate Barkmann (Human Scale) $100 DSW Anna Mitchell (Allsteel), $50 DSW Pat Groves (Wilson Art) Venue/Food & Beverage Sponsor: Crossville Studios
