PRODUCT RUNWAY 13 The IIDA Houston City Center would like to thank everyone who participated in Product Runway 2013, produced by Community Service chairs, Laura Thompson (JCS) and Sean Pantin (PBK). This year’s show, “Animation Fabrication” was held at the Bayou Music Center on April 19th. It was by all counts a tremendous success with 24 design teams, 48 Garment Label sponsors and 1400 in the audience. The fashion show represented the finish line for a competition that began in January and included four pre-‐events at underwriter’s showrooms, including the “Sneak Preview -‐ Team Reveal” at J Tyler, “Fashion 101” at Steelcase, “Q&A” + “Garment Judging” at JCS, our top underwriter. Together, we raised $15,000 for our charity; The Houston F urniture Bank, $2500 for T.A.I.D, $2500 for the IIDA Education Foundation, sponsored a Student Campus Center with (10) IIDA Student Member Scholarships, and had a lot of fun along the way.

The “High Definition” VIP happy h our at the Hard Rock Café was packed with over 400 guests who enjoyed complementary drinks and appetizers before taking their runway seats at the show. Rebecca Spera of ABC “Mirror Mirror” added a bit of glamour as she joined Sean on stage as our celebrity emcee. Judging was a snap with our panel of seasoned veterans including Jeff Gremillion, Editor in Chief of Modern Luxury Houston Magazine, Joy Sewing, Fashion Editor for the Houston Chronicle, Alex Chapman, Professor of Fashion Design at HCC, and Michelle Maresh, Editor & Publisher of Houston Design Resources Magazine. PR13 represented our 5th Anniversary Production, which was celebrated by a performance from our Past Producers with a tribute to “Beauty and the Beast”.

CNTD: PRODUCT RUNWAY 13 New Features to this year’s competition included complimentary on-‐site hair & makeup by Visible Changes, a total of 13 additional awards, audience participation with real time text voting for the Crowd Favorite Award, pre-‐show on-‐line voting for Most Philanthropic Team, and two new Silent Auctions including both past and present runway garments, most of which are still available! The Planet Funk dance came back for a second year and stopped the show with their break dancing rendition of “Alice in Wonderworld”. The fashion show was amazing and the competition was fierce with PBK, Gensler and Kirksey Architecture taking home the top prizes. We want to thank our fabulous Underwriters for their on-‐going and continued support; the hair & make-‐up artists from Visible Changes for creating personalized, custom looks for our models; the faculty & students from HCC School of Fashion Design for providing invaluable advice and mentoring at Fashion 101; and our Garment Label sponsors, whose combined contribution of time and materials made this show possible. But most of all we want to thank our Design Teams whose tireless energy, incredible imagination and amazing creativity are what make Product Runway the marvelous success it is.
