ART & ARTIFACTS 2012 IIDA Houston City Center's annual fundraiser, Art & Artifacts, was held on Friday, October 19th at The Capitol at St. Germain in downtown Houston. The event, coordinated by Underwriting Chairs Amanda Meininger and Monica Rohling, raised thousands of dollars to help IIDA support its mission. The event's Parisian theme was "City of Lights", and its namesake design competition involved members creating pendant "lights" for auction. Upon arriving at the soiree, guests were greeted by a grand marquee and a gorgeous red carpet. Looking past the entry, all the designers’ pendant lights were hung from the edge of the mezzanine floor, allowing guests to get a 360 degree view of each of the incredible creations. The grand two-‐ story event space featured an illuminated photo backdrop on stage were guests could take photos. Guests could also stop by the snack bar or grab a delicious French macaron on their way to have a movie flipbook made as a keepsake for the event. An upstairs VIP lounge provided a special getaway featuring vintage lounge furniture and champagne.
Guests chatted the night away while sipping on signature drinks from the bar and bidding on an amazing selection of donated products, gift certificates, and tickets for Houston activities and special getaways. And as everyone headed home for the evening, they received a special candle favor to take with them, the perfect fit for a “light” themed event.

ART & ARTIFACTS 2012- Thanks! Such an incredibly successful evening could not have been possible without the generous donations of the event’s amazing underwriters. The huge success of the silent auction can be attributed to the multitude of industry partners and manufacturers who donated items, and a committee of dedicated volunteers made sure the night went off without a hitch.
